Oh, look! Irwin's is bombing this site with fake reviews! Another demonstration of Irwin's Plumbing being a dishonest operation. If you dont want to be over-charged, avoid this shonky outfit. They charged my elderly mother almost $1300 to change a basic mixer tap. They were at the home for under 30 mins. they told her she needed a $13 000 plumbing job due to supposed tree roots in a section of pipe. Yeh right. They offered a full refund when I complained but then refused to follow through without having a verbal discussion with me. I had stipulated all correspondence in writing. Irwin's provided vague and unconvincing reasons why they could not refund without talking to me - all flimsy reasons that were veiled as 'customer care' and such nonsense but would have likely instead been a request to remove my public Facebook post about them or sign a non-disclosure agreement. Like hell, Irwin's, Im not as stupid as your business is without ethics. I suggest you google Irwin's Plumbing and my Facebook post on Exposing Dodgy Builders and Trades and read the 400+ comments about their unscrupulous over-charging for yourself before you make the mistake of engaging these crooks. Do some digging and you will find a tangled web of dirty businesses linked to this dodgy operation with a public record of over-charging including Smith's Plumbing, Prestigious Plumbing. They are related and they prey on people, especially the elderly. I am coming for you "Irwin's".

In response to your further waffle about 'constructive communication'. It is you being obstructive, in fact. Insisting we have a verbal conversation when you have failed to provide a reason for this being necessary is blackmail. You are withholding the refund you promised because I have asked for everything in writing. Please ask away whatever it is you need to know. Explain exactly what you require in writing and I am more than happy to correspond with you in writing. You are also free to 'investigate' the over-charging without a verbal discussion. It's simple: You changed a mixer tap and charged my mother well over $1200. you were there around 20 mins. You have had ample time to 'investigate'. What did your 'investigation' reveal? The public comments on my post revealed to me that you are dishonest highway robbers. Please do tell me though what your investigation determined. I will also add that despite asking for an invoice with a detailed breakdown of labour and materials, you have also failed to provide one. Instead of fixating on having a nice little chat with me, how about instead you provide the invoice I requested and refund my mother's money like you promised. If you were genuine, you would not continue to withhold the refund because I am asking you to communicate with me only in writing. The 'appropriate channels' are in writing. I have sent you two emails on 4 May and 5 May to which you have not responded. So you are ingoring me and failing to communicate with me via the 'appropriate channels'. Dont try to gaslight me with your high-horse fake words. Do you adhere to your legal obligations, or are they optional? I ask for more than one reason, but I will give you this much for now: You are in breach of the law due to your failure to provide me with an itemised invoice within 7 days of me requesting it. Leaving you this review is only the first step I am taking.

Quoted over 8x the amount of another plumber today. Sent the quote through to multiple of my plumbers from work and they laughed at the dollar figure. I wonder how many poor people get

Edit : had a plumber and an apprentice complete the job this morning. Mains re run and tied in. 8am - 11.45 am. Job finished and back to full operations. And literally 1/8 of the price. Can you explain to me how you were justifying your original quote of 12k then with “ a discount “ down to Around 10k for that volume of work? Clearly you are contracting out these jobs but I can’t sit back and let you just take advantage of people with ridiculous quotes.

I've found the staff at of Irwin's plumbing quite helpful, reliable and honest, even though I had to wait 2 days. For the plumber to connect my washing machine.
In the future I would be happy too recommend this plumbing company to anyone looking for a plumber.

I think the issue here is they are face company and outsource work, so while its great they were able to get out very quickly. The quote for how much they were charging to do a few tests was outrageous, so I think some people get fair people turning up amd some get the company I got.
Workers were nice and did explain a few things but first day didnt seem to kmow what to do. Second guy next day figured it out and then another exorbitant quote which I declined then spoke with the boss who was pushy.

Overall I appreciated the plumbers who turned up and identified the issue but over 2k for identification and 9k to actually fix the problem was huge. I worked out the part and potentially a few hours work to do the job would max out around 1k so 9k is insane. Im glad I didnt use them to get the work done. Ill be making sure I never use this company or the company that came out, who was Nstream plumbing pty Ltd. They are just completely out of my price range.

UPDATE

I got a resolution from the customer care team. They were very helpful and adjusted the cost to a fair amount so I am changing my rating from 2 to 4.

The customer service is excellent as was the plumber. The initial quote to fix a leaking kitchen tap was beyond outrageous but was subsequently adjusted to a more reasonable amount. Still pricey though.

Once here they were quick and had it all fixed also had time to explain what was done but the cost was to high was disappointing but there friendly team called and was rectified

Sean is very helpful and did help to get what I wanted. Although prize a little high but managed to get 10% out. Friendly and easy.

Same day call out although it was a little pricy. I was uncomfortable with some elements of the service provided which was rectified immediately by the customer service team who contacted me (not the other way round), listened to what I had to say and acted on it to make the experience better. They are looking at their T’s and C’s and processes as a result of the conversation and feel heard.
