You may think interac is safe as it is…

You may think interac is safe as it is used by Canadian banks however it is an access point to your bank info and it is not safe. You are much more safe purchasing using a credit card. Alot of people are using it to send money just out of convenience but no one ever stole your identity because you paid them with cash. Stop being lazy and helping the criminals which includes the banks themselves and the corporate intersests that control them. They love to track all you do.

AVOID INTERAC AUTODEPOSIT: A Recipe for Headaches and Missing Money

I'm writing this review to warn others about the serious problems with Interac e-Transfer's Autodeposit feature. Do not use Autodeposit. It's a trap that can lead to delayed and inaccessible funds, endless frustration, and hours wasted trying to resolve issues that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Autodeposit is marketed as a convenient way to automatically receive e-transfers. The reality is that it's a poorly designed system with a fatal flaw: banks can disable Autodeposit on your account without notifying you. This means that someone can send you money, it will appear as though the transfer was successful on their end, but you will never receive it. The money essentially becomes inaccessible, neither creditted to your account nor immediately returned to the sender. It's stuck in a limbo state, creating a stressful and time-consuming situation for both parties.

This isn't a rare glitch; it's a widespread problem. Online forums are full of people sharing their frustrating experiences about transfers that are delayed or never arrive due to Autodeposit being mysteriously disabled.

Here's why Autodeposit is so dangerous:

No Notification: Your bank won't tell you if they disable Autodeposit. You'll only find out when a transfer fails.

"Ghost" Transfers: Transfers appear to go through, but the money never arrives. Senders get a confirmation, but recipients get nothing.

Hours of Hassle: Resolving these issues can take days or even weeks. You'll be forced to deal with multiple levels of customer service, often with little to no help.

No Automatic Return: Unlike a normal failed transfer, money sent to a disabled Autodeposit account isn't automatically returned to the sender. It gets stuck in a limbo state, requiring manual intervention to recover.

Zero Transparency: The entire process is incredibly opaque. Banks provide vague or no explanations for why Autodeposit is disabled or how to fix it.

The supposed "convenience" of Autodeposit is a joke. It might save you a few seconds on a normal transfer, but the potential for a massive headache and wasted time makes it completely not worth it.

My advice:

Disable Autodeposit immediately on all your accounts.

Use manual e-transfers with security questions. It's a tiny extra step that provides far more security and peace of mind.

Warn your friends and family about the dangers of Autodeposit.

Demand that your bank and Interac improve their communication and implement a better system for handling failed transfers. This includes automatic returns after a reasonable time period.

The Interac e-Transfer system itself is generally reliable. The problem is the way banks have implemented (and mishandled) the Autodeposit feature. Until they fix this, Autodeposit is a risk you should not take. Don't become another victim of this ridiculous system.

complaint

I am submitting a complaint against INTERAC regarding a serious security issue that occurred with their e-transfer service. My business recently accepted e-transfers as a payment method. Unfortunately, when a client attempted to send a payment of $3,000, the transfer was intercepted by a hacker.

Upon discovering the issue, we reached out to TD Bank for assistance. To our dismay, they froze the client’s account for a week and ultimately declined to refund the stolen funds. This lack of resolution has resulted in significant financial loss for my business, and I am seeking full compensation for this incident.

Given the severity of this situation and the apparent vulnerabilities in the e-transfer system, we will no longer accept e-transfers as a payment method. I am escalating this matter and urge INTERAC to improve their security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. I expect a prompt response and resolution to this complaint.

Their employees hate their Job

They hate their Job. The last representative I spoke to hanged up on me twice as she was confused and didn’t know how to proceed. And made it look like I was wrong cause she was ashamed. I hope she gets what she deserves
