Cowboys, avoid like the plague. MCS have struck them off the register.
Signed up with this company for solar panels after finding them through MCS website. Unbeknown to us, between signing the contract and the work commencing, they were struck off the MCS register. We discovered this quite by chance, they would not have volunteered it, and we would have been left with a non MCS accredited job, which can make it difficult to get insurance, mortgage or sell our house. They have now stopped responding to our communication and refused to refund our deposit. Fortunately I had the foresight to pay by credit card so we are in the process of getting this recovered by the bank. Trading standards also involved. We are still waiting for the scaffolding they erected in an attempt to bully us into going ahead to be removed, months later. It rattles and bangs every time the wind blows, causing goodness knows what damage to our house. Dishonest unscrupulous cowboys, avoid like the plague.
Note Install Solar's response to another recent post about the same issue, claiming that they are now re- registered - I have spoken to both MCS and Napit this week who both confirmed this to be untrue. MCS website also provides a list of accredited companies.

Had a bit to wait not company’s fault…
Had a bit to wait not company’s fault getting materials etc . But once they had everything they phoned and said what date arrived on time and installed the panels and battery etc all working fine and the install guys were great had it all done in a day and cleaned up mess etc even had call back from company asking how it all went so am happy with the install and would recommend them .

Storage Battery Upgrade
I used Install Solar previously to fit my 6kwh PV system and 10kwh batteries. This installation went well. Given the rising costs of electric I wanted to fit an additional 15kwh of battery storage which I can charge in the better weather from my PV panels and in the winter from cheap overnight tariff from Octopus Go. The existing batteries and the 3 new 5kwhr ones were fitted very tidily in my garage and are working well. I am very happy with the installation.

Efficient and fabulous.
Efficient, helpful workmen and brilliant characters. Fitted my solar panels and kept me up to date. Great communication and friendly talking men who couldn't do enough. Great quality service. The 3 gents were all individually professional and helpful in each area of their expertise, even when I accidently set the fire alarm off they were beyond helpful.

Keep clear - very hard to obtain a refund
Please avoid. Be aware that their website terms and conditions imply that you can cancel and obtain a refund prior to installation. These also state that deposits won’t be taken 3 weeks prior to installation. I asked to cancel after delays and a change in materials and no date for installation provided (regardless of what they say in their response below). According to their online T&C I can cancel for any reason but yet
they have failed to respond to my emails. It has now been almost 3 months since I paid a sizeable deposit and over 2 weeks since I asked to cancel. Interestingly they were able to take the time to respond to this post.
They have lost their MCS accreditation which they say is temporary but the full implications of accepting installation without this were not properly explained. Not covered by RECC during the loss of their affiliation with MCS despite their website claim that they are. Be very aware that you may not be able to get any deposit you pay back even if they vary the terms and there are significant delays. Overall a very stressful experience and I would like my money back now as I have lost faith in them.

Do your due diligence!!!!
Do your due diligence, this company ripped off my parents-in-law, said they could install quicker that other companies but now don’t answer the phone or reply to emails, now found out they are not accredited due failures to comply with the MCS quality guidelines. Just a poor double glazing sales outfit with no desire to fit the right systems for their customers just what suits them when suits them. Contact trading standards and they have already heard of them, surprise surprise. Will be reading about these con artists in the newspapers soon when they go pop with lots of customer deposits.

Our initial free survey to completion…
Our initial free survey to completion of the panels was achieved within 8 weeks. In a single day the full work was complete. We are completely comfortable in recommending other potential customers to Install Solar.

On 27 September 2022 I was advised by consumer advice scotland to write to install solar which I did . They gave me a standard template which I used and I emailed it to Stevie bell , David Carey , Finn trotter
I wrote “ dear sir/madam on 3 august I entered into and agreement with you for solar panels . As I have heard nothing from you despite my efforts and you have failed to meet the delivery dates I am now making time of the essence and require that you fulfill the contract by the following date 11.10.22.
If you fail to meet the full terms of the contract by this date then you will be in breach of contract and all sums should be refunded “
I was then emailed by install solar to say that the installtion would be complete by end of today - the 11 October 2022
No one from install solar showed up or contacted me today the 11.10.22
Last week I also heard from Jordan Williams from MCS who confirmed that install solar ltd was suspended from the MCS register in May 2022 and as yet have not been readmitted . He advised that no company should be installing solar panels if they are not registered particulalry if you are signing up for a feed -in tariff as it will not be recognized by the grid . Also if you have a system installed by a company that has no accreditation and then subsequently they regain their accreditation then your certificate of installation cannot be backdated
I have notified my credit card company and they have now initiated a charge back on install solar ltd
I’m hopeful that my deposit will be refunded in full .
I will let you know if I achieve this

Excellent service
We met the director face to to to discuss our requirements for solar panels and I cannot fault the technical knowledge and expertise, not only were our panels installed within a reasonable timeframe, we also found the after sales service to be excellent!

Had an issue with delivery of products but I suppose understandable with the world these days doesn’t make it an less frustrating but 1st class job when eventually done saving already after 3 weeks. Still waiting on final paperwork but again with the delays can understand. Installers first class and so far so good with aftersales

Buyer Beware
I’m in the middle of a dispute with Install Solar over the length of time my installation has taken, the poor standard of their workmanship and my belief that they have not upheld parts of my contract with them.
Suffice to say they have no interest in trying to resolve any of the issues I have raised and the matter now sits with Citizens Advice / Trading Standards.
I will post an update when CA / TS have concluded their enquiries, and that update will provide more details of my issues as well as a few pictures.
In the meantime, my advice is “buyer beware” and perhaps look elsewhere for your Solar Panel installation.

I see Install Solar have replied and stated they have resolved any snagging issues I may have had …
I’m truly gob smacked by that claim because Install Solar have been nowhere near my property and certainly have not made any attempt to resolve any issues.
Their claim that they have fixed the issues is therefor an out and out LIE.
UPDATE 02/10/22
I see another reply from Install Solar, again implying that the installation has been completed to my satisfaction and highlighting that I have an outstanding balance.
I agree, there is a balance to be paid BUT as previously communicated that balance will only be paid when your company has addressed my list of issues.
Do you honestly think that I would be receiving any communications from Install Solar if I had a fully paid up balance ? No , I think not.
As I have previously highlighted, and as has previously been communicated to Install Solar, the matter is with CAB and Trading Standards.
Until then I will continue to warn people about the potential hazards of dealing with Install Solar.
UPDATE 07/11/22
Just had a phone call from Alex, which appears to relate to Install Solars update posted earlier.
A site visit arranged for tomorrow, so hopefully this whole thing can finally start getting resolved 🙏

Finally ! The issues have been resolved following a site visit by Vinny and his two mates. A much much much improved install, and a much much much happy customer. Thank you !

Supply Chain Issues...
I read all the reviews with interest...IF you put your name to it I am delighted to speak to you personally. I am always looking to improve, but as an Installer I am at the mercy of suppliers. Like most we depend on Global supply chains so if I am told a delivery is coming on a certain date, I arrange an installation. When it doesn't arrive no one is happy.. but it is very difficult to control global issues. Suez Canal had a knock on effect for example. War in Ukraine?? We are not perfect but strive to improve. Please be patient if stock is an issue. I was quoted THREE years for a new car.....made in the UK

Failed to deliver in full
We were pointed towards InstallSolar as a local MCS certified company that is compatible with the Home Energy Scotland loan scheme. It is concerning to read from other reviews that InstallSolar may have lost this accreditation. I asked one of their representatives but they've not yet answered the questions.
Our install was delayed initially due to supply issues over a mounting bracket. Once resolved the install was completed quickly. The team of installers arrived without any sort of plan as to how many panels went on each part of the roof which I was surprised about. I'm not entirely happy with where they all ended up as some are in shaded areas at the bottom of the roof when there is still space at the top... I think the team that Install Solar sub-contracted to probably took the easy option rather than what was best for the install.
They also discarded the peel-off paper backing from the panel mounting kit all over the roof which then blew into neighbour's gardens and caused unnecessary problems.
After the panels were in for a few days the energy monitoring system we have in the house was reporting some errors and on closer inspection we found a smaller inverter than had been specified was fitted. To their credit, Install Solar quickly rectified this.
The solar panel install was back in July, we are still waiting for batteries. Other firms seem to have availability but Install Solar continue to send our their "Don't call us, we will call you" emails. I don't doubt there are stock issues given the global semi-conductor reply and industrial action affecting the closure of shipping ports etc but I do not have the confidence that I will receive the batteries in good time.
As it stands I have (today) informed InstallSolar of my intention to purchase batteries from elsewhere (significantly cheaper too) and am awaiting a refund from the money they have received.

I simply don't believe the good reviews on here. The bad ones much more reflect my experience with the same story in regards to excuses for delays. Furthermore I now beleive that they do not have MCS accreditation and that they have not applied for prior permission from the DNO as is required for a system over 4kw. I will first thing on Monday be asked for my money back and exploring the insurance they sated was included in the contractual agreement.
Update.
The comments made by Install Solar in response to this post are false. I have not had an installation, enfact I took them to arbitration via the RECC and won. They have been instructed to return my deposit in full. They still at this point have a few days to do so under RECC terms, however if they do not I will move forward with court action.
Update March 23
They have ignored the RECC and I've began legal action to enforce via the County Court. I will not be giving up on the £4700 deposit they owe me.

Initial issue started on the 16th August - Battery not connecting to inverter. Someone turned up that same afternoon but problem looked more complex therefore as i was away, next date anyone could attend was agreed as the 23rd August- After some bumpy communication, batteries were taken off site for further testing. All was good there and they came back on the 1st September where it was confirmed that the inverter was the problem. And install Solar came prepared with a replacement. And i was back up and running that afternoon.. Bit better on the communications please - BUT i got my problem resolved thank you

Don’t touch this company
We signed up for Solar panels and batteries in January paying a whopping 50% deposit which along with aggressive sales pitch of escalating prices is against their own committed code with advertised RECC. Additionally this amount of deposit and length of time to fit, invalidates IWA insurance policy they sell with you.
Instillation date took three months to get, then days before they cancelled reporting they didn’t have a tool to drill roof tiles.
Since then been given runaround of different reasons why they haven’t got materials and instillation date. MD failed to reply to calls, Production Manager failed to reply to emails both being handed to girls in the office.
Since then lost all confidence in the whole company and have asked for refund in full. Refund has still not been provided.
Stay clear of them. Look for smaller companies that give a more client focused approach rather than just looking for sales. Read all the negative reviews because it could be your up there next.
Avoid at all costs
The company advertise that they are MCS accredited - they have lost this status!
We are still waiting for our £5k deposit back, despite it being with us tomorrow for the last 2 weeks.
They hounded us to get the sale, calling every day. But now we can't get them to call us back or answer a call to get our deposit back.
Great team and great value
