Unpleasant check out experience at the Oak Creek…
I have been shopping at the Oak Creek location for years and have always enjoyed the experience. However, since the self-checkout was made the only option, my purchases have repeatedly been put on hold for verification. This has now happened three times, including today, and it has made the checkout process unpleasant and frustrating.
I hope they will reconsider removing the staffed checkout option or improve the current system. In the meantime, I have decided to take a break from shopping at IKEA.
save yourself a headache and do not…
save yourself a headache and do not order from here. they will ship items with missing parts and sell you inventory that is out of stock.
customer service (online) is trrash they wont even give you the number to contact them or the store directly
Planner did not show up to scheduled meeting
I have booked an online appointment to design a kitchen. I took a day off from work and put my baby to nap. No one showed up. Ikea has no respect for their customers time and schedule. This is shameful.
What A Mess Of A Company
What A Mess Of A Company. Have ordered several things in separate orders, orders have been split up, lost, wrong things have been sent, items have gone missing. What an absolutely disgraceful logistics team. Do not order from Ikea if you want reliable service and peace of mind.
My first order from Ikea and the last
I made my first order online from Ikea. It was shipped from Ikea in Renton. The sender address is 601 SW 41st St (Ikea Renton address). They sent me a different shelf unit, and we realized it after we almost assembled it, because they looked similar.
I contacted customer service by chat. All they agreed to do is to send the correct item and waive the shipping fee of $10. And we'll have to ship them back the incorrect item.
I asked if they can refund at least half of the the missing item. It's not a big sum. The entire shelf cost $44.99. So half would be about $22. But they refused to do even this. Only $10 fee, and that's it. I realize that $22 is also a small refund, but at least it feels more fair, a half of the missing item.
My husband now will have to disassemble the incorrect item and put it neatly into the packaging. We had to carry the heavy incorrect item to our floor. Now we'll have to carry it back down to the mailing room. I 'll have to cover all previous labeling and remake the shipping material, print return label, call fedex, etc. On top of this, I wasted about an hour chatting with their customer service (first with a regular agent, then with a supervisor). And all they can offer me in exchange is to waive the pathetic $10 shipping fee. Zero flexibility.
And on top of this the first agent showed total lack of attention for detail. I gave her the article number of the missing item in the beginning of the chat. When I fully explained the issue, she requested this number again. I said that I already wrote it above. She found it. But then in the end she said that 2 items of this articles were ordered, even though I ordered only 1. That means that she mixed up with a different article in my order, and if that wasn't caught, she could send me a wrong item again. And then they would likely force me to do another return and do zero refund.
Additionally, I asked if they can at least do expedited reshipping of the correct item, but they couldn't do even this. I have to wait another 5 days to receive my much needed shelf.
The very first online order from Ikea demostrated that a big percentage of their employees are simply sleepwalking at work, not paying attention to what items they pack into shipping, nor what items are requested to reship. I dealt with 3 employees of Ikea (the one who packed my shipping, the first customer service agent and the customer service supervisor). 2 of the 3 employees made mistakes.
Ikea absolutely doesn't respect customer's time and trouble their workers' negligence cause.
Given that the very first order went so wrong and showed Ikea's customer service in all its patheticism, it seems that the percentage of online orders they mess up is 100%. At least, that's true in my case. One orders from Ikea at their own risk.
Update 4 days later:
It's unbelievable, as long as the story with Ikea already is, it's just the beginning.
4 days later after the situation described above, I still didn't receive any notifications that my replacement shelf was shipped. So I contacted customer service chat again. I was shocked by their answer. They said they couldn't charge me for the replacement as payment was declined. But the replacement was supposed to be sent for free as I already paid for this item originally!!! And I double-checked this with that so called supervisor in the previous chat. Turned out that so called supervisor created a replacement order incorrectly and didn't check the box that the order is supposed to be free, while assuring me that it will be free.
And if that wasn't enough, the person who handled the shipment, tried to charge me again. When the payment didn't go through (fortunately), they simply abandoned the order and didn't even contact me, even though the order shows my phone number and email on it (I received it by email).
When I asked if I can discard the wrong item I received from them as it's taking half of room in my apartment, the agent again said no and that I have to return it. I asked why then didn't they still send a return label if 4 days have passed since my previous chat. The agent said that she added a note to the corrected replacement order so that they send me a return label. Does that mean if I didn't ask, they would never send it to me, and I would have this piece of garbage in my room indefinitely???
It is obvious at this point that Ikea is totally disfunctional through and through. One person doesn't know what the other is doing. There is zero accountability. At this point I dealt with 5 employees (original order shipper, previous chat agent, so called supervisor, replacement order shipper and today's chat agent). 4 of those 5 employees made errors. It's been almost 2 weeks since I ordered a shelf from Ikea. I still don't have it.
Unfortunately, Trustpilot has a limit on the length of the review. So I'll have to end here.
I ordered a closet system in January…
I ordered a closet system in January 2025 one large piece was not in stock as well as a couple smaller pieces, I was told they were due in stock shortly. The next day I received an email that the large piece was in stock, went to the site and of course said it was unavailable. Kept checking, every day. Finally after two months I called that I needed to return the items (boxes have not been opened or moved since delivery). The customer service person scheduled the pick up with JW logistics for 3/22, the day came and went with no pick up I called half way through the day and was told the pick up was cancelled. Here we go again, after a couple of calls it was scheduled for 4/5. Again no show for pick up. I have spent over 20 hours on the phone, talked to at least 21 people (yes, I have all the names, including the ones whom I asked to spell their name because I could not understand them and once they spelled their name they hung up) Was promised calls back and never have I received even one call. Including Dean who has now promised twice that Ashley the team lead would call me back. Had it rescheduled with Tamika's help from the back office for 4/19. I called on 4/16 and Jason assured me it was scheduled. Called AIT on Friday the 18th and NO record for the pick up. Back and forth for 4 hours with customer service at IKEA and getting rag dolled around and given different answers. Spent over 4 hours on the phone that day. Was again assured of a call back to help schedule the pick up and NOTHING. Yesterday spent another 4 plus hours on the phone and still nothing is resolved. No way to reach anyone but the useless customer service line where no one helps and says they cant schedule it the back office has to schedule it. I have asked for an immediate refund and then maybe they will figure out how to pick this stuff up ,but of course no one can do anything.

Beware of Beware of Buying IKEA Floor Model or As-Is
I left IKEA Renton with a functioning clock today. But first I was told by 3 IKEA employees that I had to go home with a totally broken, unusable item that cost $50.99. The reason? The item was sold As-Is.
I interacted with 2 IKEA employees when I purchased this item. The website was reporting that there were 4 of these clocks in stock, but there were none. I asked a salesperson about this and she asked if I wanted to buy the floor model and I said Yes. She directed me to another part of the store where another employee took the clock, then gave it back to me, without a word. He gave me a tag that said in huge black letters on a yellow background: $50.99. The original price was $59.99. I didn’t think this was much of a discount, but I didn’t say anything.
When I got home, I printed the instructions from the IKEA website, and I inserted new batteries. According to the instructions, the numbers were supposed to start flashing, but they didn’t. I tried to insert a USB cable, but it would not go in. The instructions did not say what kind of cable to use and it didn’t come with a cable. The clock did not work at all.
I prepared to return the item. I got the tag and receipt. Now that I had my glasses on, I could see that the tag said in very small letters, under the price, “ASIS Non-Refundable.” I didn’t think that would be a problem. I wasn’t planning to ask for a refund. I just wanted a store credit. I assumed that a reputable company like IKEA would issue a store credit for an item that was totally broken. I never imagined that a company like IKEA would expect me to pay $50.99 for merchandise that was unusable. But I was mistaken.
I went to the Returns area 2 weeks later and told the IKEA employee that called my name that I would like a store credit for an item that was broken. She said it was As-Is so she could not take it back. I explained that no one told me it was As-Is and As-Is was printed in tiny letters that I didn’t see because I did not have my glasses on. She called a manager in Recovery and when she hung up, she handed the clock back to me and said they would not give me a store credit.
I said that was unacceptable, and that I wanted to talk to the Recovery manager.
The Recovery manager came out and was insulting. She reiterated that the item was As-Is and said several times that I had waited “a month” to return it. I bought it exactly 2 weeks prior. She said I could put on my glasses, turn over the receipt, and read the As-Is policy which is printed on the back. She said they would not give me a refund. I said I didn’t ask for a refund, that I wanted a store credit. She said no. I said that is unacceptable, I want to talk to your manager.
Soon a third IKEA employee came over to talk to me. She pointed out that the area I went to to get the tag 2 weeks ago, had a sign that says As-Is.
1. I didn’t notice the sign
2. Even if I did, I would not know that it applied to me because no one said As-Is to me, only Floor Model.
3. Even if I was told the clock was As-Is, I would still expect a store credit if the item turned out to be totally broken and unusable.
She said IKEA’s As-Is policy is very strict. I said, if that’s your policy, and you are going to enforce it with no exceptions, you need to train your employees to explain that to customers. She said I had waited “over a month” to return it. It was, in fact, exactly 2 weeks. She also referenced the fact that the clock had been “deeply discounted.” The clock was discounted less than 10%. Since it didn’t come with the cable included with new clocks, I would have to purchase one, which really makes the discount closer to 5%. That is not a deep discount. Eventually she took the clock in the back, and returned with it in about 2 minutes. It was working. I asked what they did and she said they just put batteries in it. I put new batteries in it and it did not work, so I don’t know what happened.
IKEA clearly puts time and effort into training it’s employees to enforce its As-Is policy even when circumstances make it unethical to do so, as they were in my case today. It may be legal. It is not ethical.
IKEA needs to redirect some of the energy it puts into training employees to enforce the As-Is policy, into training employees to make the As-Is policy clear to customers before they buy one of these items. For example, “This is a floor model which means it is sold As-Is which means it cannot be returned, even for store credit, even if you find it doesn’t work at all.”
I couldn’t even throw it in the trash because it requires special disposal.
I wanted to put this in writing and submit it to IKEA, but when I called customer service I was told that there is no email or physical mailing address for IKEA.
Ikea Brimnes Queen Size Bedframe
My son purchased a queen sized Brimnes platform bed . Matching 4 draw chest and nightstand. There was a problem with the slats which we resolved. Why I give Ikea 4 stars is for their price/value ratio and wow!!! Some of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. Jacksonville beach Ikea customer service should be the gold standard in the service industry. I highly recommend Ikea for furniture, price and customer service
No problems with Ikea
No problems at all with all the furniture we have at home from Ikea store. They are solid, they are modern, they are very good looking and not expensive.
IKEA is cheap and cheaply made
IKEA is what it is. It's super cheap furniture, and most of it is also cheaply made. I remember buying a dresser once for $68, which is an incredible price. But it had actual PLASTIC feet and the drawers were basically cardboard. What do you expect for $68? I think it has actually gotten worse, though. I had a bed of theirs for about 10 years, and it had some actual wood in it and a very solid steel beam. I think it had only about 4 long screws that held the legs on - and was pretty easy to assemble & dis-assemble. I moved with that item about 3 times. But the last things I bought just a few months ago - TERRIBLE! I bought 2 night stands, and they were IMPOSSIBLE to put together. And I have been putting furniture together for years, but this was absolutely impossible. Even after I finally got it done, the drawers don't close right. For laughs I went back to the store and took a closer look at the floor sample. It's drawers didn't close right either! Just crap! I should know better! I am old enough now to be able to buy real furniture, and I will try to never buy anything from them again. Except maybe some meatballs! And p.s. they are notorious for their ATROCIOUS customer service.
The only problem I have with ikea is…
The only problem I have with ikea is their reluctance to make instructions more intuitive.
The instructions are literally written for people who are already ikea building vetetrans.
If ikea really cared more about their clientele they would invest in a youtube production section of their industry and create videos on building ikea products.
This would be helpful because then people would understand in great detail how to build their ikea furniture rather than having to constantly build and unbuild their furniture.
IKEA is #greenwashing themselves big…
IKEA is #greenwashing themselves big time.
It is a company that is involved in many filthy environment areas. Such of destruction of old growth forest, to the Amazon rainforest and other production such as steel.
This is not a a sustainable or environmentally friendly company.
many unique, useful, simple designed furniture
When I need furniture, IKEA first comes up in my mind. So many unique, useful, simple designed furniture. The price is very good!
Ikea Planning Studio - the most awful business you have ever seen
Ikea Planning Studio, Manhattan
Dreadful!!! stay away from this place as far as you can!!! I never experienced anything as bad as this!
They dragged me for two months with the design and purchase of the kitchen, during which they kept losing my information and each time I came I had to restart the whole process from scratch. Their so-call 'designers' are a bunch of incompetent people that one wonder where they find them. They don't have customer service so you cannot contact anybody for help. I managed to connect with the store manager and asked for his help, but he did not even care to answer my message let alone do anything. When I finally completed this torturous process and had everything ready for installation, they told me there is four(!) month waiting time. I had to return everything and get started from scratch elsewhere, where the whole process from beginning to end took three weeks and cost less than Ikea! Not only did Ikea caused me huge financial loss because of the delay, they also never fully refunded me for this ordeal.
How come that very time I order…
How come that very time I order something is missing from my delivery???
The delivery is horrible
The delivery is horrible. IKEA made arrangements 4 times with me for a delivery and failed to show each time without any notification. After 3 weeks, I still haven't received my delivery and spent hours talking with both IKEA and logistics firm trying to figure out where my package is. Unfortunately both companies are blaming each other for the lost delivery with no result.
I always go to the place where it is…
I always go to the place where it is easy to purchase and get a refund. The price is of course important. Simple and easy to assemble. Love ice cream cone also.
Love their product
