Garage Remy Frères experience
1. My experience of Garage Remy Frères.
2. I would expect you to have well trained staff; familiar and qualified to install all camping car equipment, to a good standard, safely.
It is difficult to understand how the installer wasn’t aware of the installed damaged wires since the ground cable paper label was applied very close to the damage. The damaged ground wires made the diameter of the cable effectively smaller which then increases resistance, this may cause overheating in the circuits. Why were both ground cables added to an occupied post on the fused busbar, when there were 5 minor posts (rated >30A circuit) available and a unoccupied post (>200A circuits) below these. That the allegedly defective cable was so short may explain this. The effective gauge of this damaged circuit could not be assessed. Hence replacement was necessary. The reaction by the garage was unacceptable.
One of 2 MPPTs fitted by Garage Remy Frères was the Antarion MPPT 15A, this was not set to LPo4 (it was set to Gel, only discovered with a mirror). Since I had a lithium battery installed directly below it; this was unhelpful.
I have replaced this with a second Victron SmartSolar 75/15 MPPT (both the Victron MPPTs, one supplied by Garage Remy Frères, are networked together with my existing Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger, using the Victron App which synchronises the absorption and other important stages to prolong the life of a lithium battery).
Why would I agree to another manufacturer (Antarion) when my setup was to be Victron, I was approached by a Garage Remy Frères staff member at the Victron display (my wife was present), the only name on the devis was Victron and then my email query was confirmed by a Remy Frères staff member 4 days before our rdv.
I am content for the cables (removed as explained above), and photographs of the installation (and my revision), to be examined by a reputable company such as Victron or Bürstner, outside France; that will ensure impartiality.
I rewired the system to an acceptable standard. I am 80% disabled.
