I wish I could give this an experience a zero rating. I am writing a review solely based on my experience. My family and I spent a long time looking for a reputable dog trainer to train our German Shepherd but this business of people saying that are “so called trainers “ we realized is nothing but a scammers way to get you to hand over thousands of dollars to them without it looking like they are scamming. We attempted to get our 1st German Shepherd training as a puppy and this guy collected the entire fee he requested from us and never showed up to train our pup, so that made us really hesitant and scared, we did spent years managing the best we can with our pup but I’ll be the 1st to say we are not dog trainers and with that our pup did develop certain behaviors that we did not know how to correct but was managing. When we decided to get another pup, we made up our minds that we would get them the training they needed and deserved. My husband found Hightailk9 on instagram, we saw this person showing off what her dog can do and how she trained her dogs and we contacted her to get more information. I explained everything I stated before to this person and how we really tried our best to get our 1st dog the proper training but was scammed, she expressed how sorry she was to hear that and promised me that she was the very opposite and I trusted her because of all the great reviews I read. We decided to have an initial meeting to see her work in person and also allow her to see the struggles we were dealing with and again she brought out her “show dog” that knows tricks and convinced us with that to book with her. We were initially going to do a board and train for our oldest pup but at the meeting she convinced us to book the same for the lil one because they are in the same household and should receive training together, it made sense to us and that’s what we did. I filled out a detailed intake form from Kay, which asks me to lists all the issues I was experiencing with both dogs and that’s exactly what I did. Issues like: Dog, people, food aggression, pulling on walks, obedience, commands, etc.. and Kay promised that she would address all these things on a flyer she sent me with different prices, and we chose a package that included many things like advanced obedience and guard dog training. I am extremely upset and highly disappointed because my dogs spent a month with these people and came back with the same issues, concerns and problems. I realized what she did was only show videos of taking the dogs for walks, and showing how they are obedient to her by not walking out her door, group sessions videos of other people walking the dogs, she also showed 2-3 minutes videos of her training them as guard dogs but I realized that the few minutes on the videos were the only training sessions my dogs received. I asked her if we can come over to see the progress of our pups, at which she replied I would need to pay for an individual session fee in order to do that and I declined because we paid over $5K for training. The videos she did post made me feel hopefully and I was extremely happy with the lil bit she shared because we really wanted it to work with her. She did not listen to how I feed my dogs and did her own thing. Mid way I asked Kay about the progress of our pups and she began to explain that our oldest was still behaving the same way because we let him get away with too much for so long, I thought to myself please tell me something I don’t know, hence why we are paying you to train him, you promised on your flyer to address all this issues, so what’s the problem? During that conversation via texts messages she did not convince me that the board and train was going well, I asked her can she be honest to tell me if things is not working out well because her responses regarding the progress left me with a pit feeling in my stomach. She stopped texting with me and said she will call instead, which now I realized she did not want to implicate herself via texts so, she hopped on a call with me instead and danced around answering the questions and concerns I had about her not so good response. Since that phone call I felt like I did with the 1st trainer we hired. There were things she promised that I had to ask her over and over again if she addressed and a day or two before I picked our pups she posted a video at HomeDepot and it confirmed to me that the training did not go well, because she had to correct the dogs so many times and I did not see advanced obedience on that video. I saw fear in my dogs eyes, and realized that they would listen to her out of fear, not obedience. My lil pup came back looking malnourished. Same issues with both dogs, during pickup she had to correct the dogs so much that I knew we wasted our money. No accountability from Kay. If they are not listening to you as a trainer, imagine us. Be honest about what you can and can’t do. Zero ⭐️.

I’ve been following Hightail Kay long before she even came to NJ/NY back when I didn’t even have a dog yet. I just knew that when I finally got one, she would be the person I trusted. And I’m so glad I followed that instinct.

Rocky had no impulse control. He cried for everything, had food aggression, and pulled constantly on walks. It was honestly stressful and overwhelming at times. The original plan was a two-week board and train, but after seeing the videos and the progress Rocky was making, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give him two extra weeks. The transformation I was seeing was just too good to stop.

And wow… the change was unbelievable.

The day I picked Rocky up, he was such a well-mannered, calm dog. I almost couldn’t believe it was the same dog. Before, you couldn’t have treats around him, walk by him, or give him attention without him lunging. But when I picked him up, that version of Rocky was settled. It was truly a 360 transformation.

The team is absolutely amazing, and their work truly speaks for itself. I know Rocky definitely gave them a run for their money, but they handled everything with so much care, patience, and intention. I couldn’t be happier with the results.

I’m also really looking forward to the classes, because honestly no one does it like Kay and her team.

A special shoutout to Kay’s wife, she is the sweetest, and you can tell how comfortable Rocky is with her. She is so loving, and it really shows how much they genuinely care about every dog they work with.

Overall, 100/10 experience. I still can’t believe how much Rocky has changed. I’m beyond grateful and would trust them again in a heartbeat. 🐾

Kay is literally one of the best dog trainers in the world. As a dog trainer myself, I can tell how in tune she is with how dogs think and behave. She’s always two steps ahead and can predict a dog’s next move so accurately that she reacts instantly and with such clarity that you can literally see the teaching “click” in the dog’s head in real time. What makes it even more impressive is how clearly and patiently she then explains what she’s doing, making it an incredible learning experience for the human, too! Her training style balances clear, consistent guidance with plenty of fun and affection for the dogs. You can tell how much happier and relaxed dogs are once they have this structure to follow. And on top of her incredible skill and effectiveness, Kay is so down-to-earth and fun that you can’t help but leave her sessions with a smile! I genuinely can’t recommend her more.

Had my first private session with Kay and her team this past weekend, and I’m already seeing a huge difference in my dog’s behavior. He was extremely reactive to people and other dogs, and walks had become really stressful. We’d tried multiple trainers before without much success, so this has been a game changer.

Kay truly understands the pitbull breed and how to work with dogs like mine. He’s not only listening better, but he seems happier and more confident—and I finally feel comfortable taking him out again.

What really stands out is the level of support. Kay brings in additional trainers and uses other well-trained dogs to create real-life training situations, which has made such a difference. Highly recommend!

My baby Peanut just finished her two week board and train with HightailK9. When I reached out to Kay, I wanted to get specific behaviors under control like lunging, walking better on a leash, want to attack smaller animals (she has a high prey drive). After picking Peanut up yesterday, Kay informed me that yes she likes to hunt, but a lot of her behavior is her desire to dominate. 🤯

Kay had my sister (who walks with a cane) walked with Peanut and she did fantastic. She matched my sister’s pace, heeled when told, and downed. I took Peanut on her first walk this morning and she had lots of challenges (cats, squirrels, 4 or 5 dogs) and she was able to successfully LEAVE them be.

Kay’s energy is infectious. It was such a joy to work with her and I would love and will work with Kay again. Highly recommend.

I have been searching for a dog trainer for a while and I’m so glad my family found hightail k9s! I have only had one session so far and I’m extremely pleased with the results I’m already seeing. In less than 5 minutes Koko was already adjusting walking with Kay. Kay was very clear in instructions and guiding me on how to manage leash pulling. I not only feel more confident and relaxed walking my dog, but my children do as well. The energy was as amazing as the training and that means a lot! We learned more about our fur baby but also had fun. I highly recommend investing in training with Hightail K9s, both you and your dog will love the outcome!

This is why my pup Stella is doing so great!!!😍 I used to be shouting and trying to do corrections while trying to work from home and it was driving me insane!!😵‍💫 She literally would be bouncing off couches and eating the floor!😭 But now she’s so much calmer. The transformation is incredible!
Sometimes, I feel she’s toooo quiet so I’ll check in on her and all she’s doing is sleeping (in her bed) The socialization with other dogs during the board and train also helped her reactivity. Stella is now a relaxed and content pup and you have brought peace back to our home. Thank you Kay. You and your team did an AMAZING job!🙏👏👏

The team is both informed and inviting. They helped me realize my mistakes and expertly guided me on how to fix them. Truly worth the investment!

Kay, amazingly provided immediate training results with one of my most challenging Livestock Guardian pups. She amazingly instructed me via virtual session, and had my large LGD responding to several commands within minutes! She provides a major value and expertise! Wow is all I have to say.

Just finished a session with Hightail K9s and I couldn't be happier. Kay is just as warm in real life as she is online. Great energy, clear direction. Such a knowledgeable trainer. Will definitely be back!

Results day 1. Kay & I did our first virtual session and I’m very proud of the results we were able to achieve from just one hour. I love the attention to detail & knowledge. She gives reason behind the method so you understand the reason for the commands and when to use it. I felt confident to move forward and put in the work on my own after the session was over. Kay is the most attentive, positive and most knowledgable dog trainer, for my dog as well as myself as the handler! Providing great intense, and powerful training techniques which helped my dog within JUST ONE SESSION! Kay made me and my dog extremely comfortable even though I have never owned a dog, Kay provided extra tips and tricks to help me continue on my dogs training to the fullest for extra results!!

I can’t find the proper words to fully express how grateful I am for Kay and what meeting her for our virtual session has done for me and my pup — mostly me, honestly.
I have a 2-year-old female Cane Corso, and she’s amazing. The truth is, I was the problem. I’m an anxious person, and that anxiety interferes with my confidence when handling my pup — which then transfers to her. This often leaves her on alert when we’re out, and I began to notice some reactivity. While I appreciate her protective nature, the reactivity concerned me, and deep down I knew it was connected to my anxious energy.
Sometimes talk therapy isn’t all we need — sometimes we need dog + handler therapy too. I know I should be leading us, and that she should be able to relax when there isn’t an active threat.
Building our relationship has always been my top priority, but I’ve often felt misguided by other advice. My goal is to have a strong bond with my pup, not just a “well-trained dog.” Kay understood the assignment immediately. Through our virtual session, she planted the seeds of confidence I needed to truly feel capable of leading my pup. I appreciate how much she values the handler–dog dynamic.
I’m already feeling more at ease and confident in my leadership skills as we continue to work together. I hope for the chance to work with Kay in person one day, but I have to say — the virtual session had one huge perk: I was doing all the legwork with my pup, which helped me feel even more confident practicing what Kay taught me.

Firstly, Kay is the most amazing human being, she has an understanding of dog & human behaviour like I’ve never seen. A natural born talent that leads her abilities in retraining phycology in humans and therefore behaviour in dogs. My first session I turned up unaware of the extent of my dogs bad behaviour, (he was over reactive to other dogs) I was given great advice and options to upgrade the package to deal with these issues, which I did. By the second session, Kay had already modified his behaviour and he was able to sit nicely next to another dog without reacting. I am overwhelmed with his progress in such a short time and the confidence she has given me to be a better dog owner is priceless. She has been patient with me even when making the same mistake over and over. Kay has one of the kindest personalities, she truly cares about dogs and helping people. I recommend her services 10/10

We have an 8.5-month-old female German Shepherd named Bella, and before finding Hightail K9 Training, we tried absolutely everything on our own — reading books, watching videos, and following every bit of advice we could find. But no matter how hard we tried, we just couldn’t make the progress we hoped for.

Then we found Kay and the team at Hightail, and everything changed — for us and for Bella. From the very first session, Kay’s patience, knowledge, and passion truly stood out. She immediately understood Bella’s personality and helped us learn how to communicate and work with her in the right way.

Now Bella is calmer, more focused, and so much happier. Our walks are a joy, our home feels peaceful, and we finally have the strong bond we always wanted with her. Finding Hightail and working with Kay has truly been life-changing — for all the best reasons.

Let me just say. What I thought was impossible became possible after 2 sessions. Not only are they the best trainers around, the vibe is amazing everyone is cool and comfortable. She fixed my dog in two damn sessions. That’s like 2/3 hours of work. Worth every last damn penny
