Work for them at your own risk
They use to be a good agency but since 2024/25 up until now, you gave to chase them up to get your money. They don’t pay for shifts…they owe so many of their staff thousands of pounds.
I won’t advice my worse enemy to work for this company
Note: they’ve changed the name of their agency and it’s now called HEALTHCARE FIRST. Run by the same people and the same story. Always owing people money .
Don’t work for them

Do not work for this company!!! They don’t pay you for shifts, and the shifts that you do get paid for, you will have to fight for every payment.

I started working for them back in March 2025 (or around that time), and it took a few months for me to get paid for my first shift. Eventually the manager paid me for the shift, but it took three months (countless messages and emails).

I then gave them the benefit of the doubt, because, around that time, the manager was very apologetic, and so I started started working for them full time for about 3 months. This was also because my other agency no longer had shifts. It was the worse decision of my life. I was always chasing the money that they owed me for shifts over that three month period of work. Therefore, I was constantly in my overdraft. I became so disillusioned with it, and so unhappy, I decided just to give up with agency work altogether (even though being an agency worker had been my life for the last five years), and so I got a full time job instead.

I haven’t worked for Higher Healthcare now for three months, and they still owe me for a shift that I worked on the 27th of June. Today is the 28th of September. I have sent about 20 messages and emails, and the manager has even acknowledged that I am owed the money, but he has now disappeared (again).

The next step will be taking this sham of a company to court to get my money for the shift that they haven’t paid me for. It’s only one shift, but I don’t work for free.

They don’t value their greatest money making commodity (which is us, their support staff). We are the ones who work the shifts and make them money. They don’t value or respect us.

I worked with about five other Higher Healthcare employees, and they all said that they had big issues with their pay. Every single one of them was very unhappy. So I would view all of these reviews on here with extreme caution, as I would bet that the vast majority of these reviews on here are all pretty obviously fake.

This company does not appear to have the infrastructure in place to operate as a professional agency, and it operates in an insufficient manner for its support staff (who, remember, are the life blood of any healthcare agency). We are all just normal people with bills to pay. I don’t work for an agency in a capacity where I am also lending them my money (which is what it will feel like the entire time you work for them). .

From the very beginning we had the best possible experience with Higher Healthcare. They can be reached by phone day and night, including weekends - we contacted them on a Saturday. We were put in touch with the Director of Care, who lived up to his title, being very caring and dedicated. He gave us important advice to help us care for our father in the interim, and worked extremely hard to put carers in place speedily. The carers were experienced and skilled, dedicated to their profession, thorough and extremely kind to both our parents. They engendered confidence and respect from the outset. We are very thankful to all at Higher Healthcare for their help in our time of need.

I've had live-in care provided by Higher Healthcare for a few months now. Having recently had bad experiences with other companies I was apprehensive at first, however, Higher Healthcare were very reassuring and stressed to me that they would find the right carer and provide me with the appropriate support. The managers visited me at home, really listened and understood what I needed. Nothing has been too much bother and they are always readily contactable with any queries or concerns. I get on so well with my two carers and both are very competent, providing safe and effective care. I'm happier and less stressed than I've felt in quite some time.

Following my centenarian mother’s fall and surgery for a broken hip it became sine qua non that further round-the-clock care had become an imperative. My mother’s needs had altered irrevocably as it was now clear she would not be able to walk again and although she already has daytime carers I needed to hurriedly find a carer agency to provide overnight cover at short notice. Fortunately Higher Healthcare was able to fill the breach and everything was arranged post haste.
Higher Healthcare introduced a young carer who immediately formed a rapport with my mother and having observed their initial encounter I had a quick sense this person was most suitable. As it has turned out the carer has shown herself to be highly competent and invested in my mother’s wellbeing. My brother and I are grateful to Higher Healthcare for their exemplary service and to the carer for her dedication to looking after elderly mother.

I would highly recommend using Higher Healthcare for live in care. After using another provider, who were not very good at all!! It was such a relief finding a care provider that really go above and beyond. Mum is the happiest she has been in months and both Sarah and Jay have been there every step of the way, do they ever sleep! Thank you!

Higher Healthcare has proven very diligent and helpful in providing daily in-house care for my elderly mother. They have taken great pains to try and match the carers with my mum, taking into account her various needs and requirements. Also, they are readily contactable at any time of the day or night for any queries or additional assistance the family may require. The company fully engages with the family from the outset to provide a very professional level of care. All in all, the system is working well, and I believe that my mum enjoys the company and assistance of the carers, and we have certainly seen a marked improvement in her demeaner since the care plan was instigated approximately 3 weeks ago. I would highly recommend Higher Healthcare to anyone seeking to provide care for a member of their family. Thank you Higher Healthcare.

Excellent communication from the team. My queries were answered really quickly and dealt with professionally and efficiently. The care staff sent are incredibly knowledgeable, punctual and caring. If you're looking for care needs then I would definitely recommend Higher Healthcare as I have to others.

We were in urgent need for care for a family member and Higher Healthcare could not have been more amazing. From how kind and understanding they have been to how quickly they helped us. I couldn’t recommend them enough, they have been so good. Thank you!
