Feels like a scam

I took insurance out with Prima as they had the best quote available at the time but soon found they were not there to help me, just line their pockets further. I recieved a very suspicious email which looked like a scam but using their own email address and my policy number. There were spelling and grammar mistakes and very confusing wording claiming I had made false claims in my application and demanding that the policy would be cancelled unless I provided proof. The only way to contact Prima is through their online chat or WhatsApp. I used WhatsApp to confirm this email was a scam and reassurance. I recieved very poor customer service and defencive language. I provided proof of what they accused me of was false and heard nothing more until I received another threatening email giving notice of the cancellation of my policy unless I provided evidence of a claim my husband made. It was actually a notification of a hit and run to his own car on his own policy which he didnt make a claim for yet it was deemed we were now such a high risk to insure, that my premium be increased by nearly half what I had already paid! I have cancelled my policy and gone for a different insurer but even filing for a refund wasnt straight forward. On WhatsApp, the chat was ended before I had a chance to agree to cancel my policy and then when reapplying to cancel, they were going to charge me £20 more than whats advertised for the cancellation policy on their website. When asked why, I was told their colleague made a mistake... not professional and upsetting experience with this insurance company

Prima car insurance

I recently renewed my car insurance with Prima
I was with them 2024/25 and when I renewed I said nothing had changed from the previous year Now they are asking for an extra £1114 pounds for something that was declared on my previous year
Sorry Prima but it seems that maybe the quote you sent me and I accepted you are now regretting and so now asking for more money
Why if nothing has changed from the previous years insurance do you now think it’s different just another way of making money disgraceful

Don’t use if you’re self employed

Three months into my policy, they’ve demanded payslips or a letter from my employer, and won’t accept anything else. I’m self employed - they’ve ignored ALL contact about this, with me asking if I can provide my tax return as proof.
I had my sister on my policy as she uses my car to get my children from school sometimes (which is why she was on my policy - it was more expensive with her on) and she also is expected to give me her pay slips! It’s none of their business what we earn, and I’ve paid for the year! Why should my sister be forced to show me her earnings? A letter from HMRC requesting our tax returns should be sufficient. I thought it was odd when I applied and they didn’t even want her address. Never in over 23 years of driving have I come across such a dodgy company, I now feel like they are harvesting data or doing something with personal details, probably why the insurance was a good deal.

Very dodgy company, no communication and seems to discriminate against self employed, definitely avoid!! I’m glad I found out because the stress that would’ve been caused if I’d needed to claim would’ve been awful. Had to let it cancel as it’s impossible to get hold of anyone to cancel otherwise, they only gave me a few days to produce these requested documents, with no text or call just a scam looking email. Also note you don’t get an account with them on their website, which wasn’t disclosed when signing up.

"Document Request"

I was roughly 3/4 months into my car insurance policy (paid in full), when I received an email requesting numerous documents that they can gain access to via the government database. With several emails back and forth of me requesting information as to why this information was now needed so far into the policy and concerned for my privacy when sending these documents (they didn't provide this requested information, other than saying that it is in my policy wording that they can request information at any point), they cancelled my policy leaving me to find alternative insurance within less than a days notice. Budget insurance, would not recommend.

Exceptional customer service response

I had a few queries following the receipt of my renewal quote email - I submitted these on the Prima online form on a Saturday morning and must admit I was sceptical of getting any response at all. Much to my astonishment, I received a response from Tahmila only a few hours later who answered my questions perfectly. Extremely impressive customer service.

Changing phone number

…Before buying a new policy.

We were pleased with the price for the level of coverage provided.
However, one star dropped because of the time waiting on hold to speak to someone about the policy before purchasing. The agent who finally spoke to us was very polite and knowledgeable.

Cancelled my insurance policy on the…

Cancelled my insurance policy on the same day as I had taken it out under the cooling off period. I have had this cancellation confirmed but they have indicated I will not get a refund of the deposit paid. It does not indicate anything on the literature to indicate this. May need to contact the ombudsman depending on the reply I get challenging this
