Incredible service

Incredible service. So glad my assessment was done with Healios. The clinicians were so kind and understanding. I had a tech issue during my second session and the clinician didn’t hesitate to reschedule which meant a lot for me. Forever grateful. (As a bonus, my report came in almost 2 weeks, super speedy when I expected it to come at least 4-6 weeks.) the report was so detailed and thorough, couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much Healios, will definitely recommend this service.

Son had his assessment 12/13 weeks ago, timeline given was 6-8 weeks for the diagnosis and still waiting despite numerous emails asking for an outcome and all I receive is “pass it onto the manager”

No clear timelines for outcome of assessment

My daughter's first assessment was cancelled at short notice on the morning of the appointment as the clinician was off sick. We had already arranged for her to have the day off school. As my daughter is suspected of ASD she took very badly to this last minute change and ended up having a meltdown and refused to go to school.

A new appointment was quickly arranged a few days later and the actual appointment seemed to go well.

However since then there has been no follow-up care whatsoever. They just said they would let me know when the report was ready. Since then I have heard nothing.

After a month I emailed for an update and they said that the outcome is usually ready in 4-6 weeks. It has now been over 2 months and I have heard nothing.

I have emailed again to chase up twice and have not even received a response. Very disappointing service with no clear timelines.

Unfortunately, the session had to be cancelled due to clinician sickness. We completely understand how difficult unexpected changes can be, particularly when supporting a young person who may find last-minute adjustments challenging, and we’re truly sorry for the impact this had on her school day. It was important to us that we rearranged the appointment quickly so she could continue with her assessment.

We also understand how important this stage of the process is for families. After speaking with our clinical team, we can confirm that we’re still waiting on some information from your daughter’s school before we can move things forward. We have contacted the school a couple of times by email to request this information.

A clinician has been in touch with you this week with an update, and we will continue to follow up with the school and keep you informed as things progress. As soon as we receive the remaining information, we’ll contact you straight away and outline the next steps.

A really infantilising experience

Felt really invalidated, the only part involving me involved no questions apart from unrelated things like “do you want to get married”and other questions of that nature. I also had to do some activities that made me feel infantilised and a bit stupid, especially as I wasn’t fourteen at the time. As well as this, a lot of the evidence for my diagnosis came from what my parents said which I do think is unreliable due to them not remembering much about my childhood, and as I wasn’t there to explain the context these situations were taken at face value. Some things in my report were jsut not true as well and I left feeling really confused. To make things worse I was discharged with no further support despite having fairly high anxiety and depression symptoms.

Breathe of fresh air

My son has been under oxleas for a year waiting for assessment. Today we got out assessment at home via video was very nice being home while doing this.
Felt you could be honest and safe saying what issues I saw with his needs.
The lady was very friendly explained all to me very well. My son had his part the next day and he was comfortable in his own home.
I reccomend this as I felt listened to and heard I belive he will get the help required as he goes from stregth to strength.

My son's report filled with spelling…

My son's report filled with spelling mistakes, bad communication and completely unbalanced with erroneous data. For example...Ex says he doesn't smile and doesn't comfort others, I say this is absolutely untrue can provide video/photo and daily examples - report gives weighting to ex.. So I assume their process is just about funding.

My son was on the waiting list with…

My son was on the waiting list with CAMHS for almost 2 years. One day in October 2024 I received an email from them offering us the chance to go through Healios. They said it would all be done online/video call. I don’t like participating in video calls due to my anxiety, but CAMHS told us the wait times would be considerably shorter. Considering my son had waited 2 years already and had also been referred to CAMHS when he was about 7 years old, but was eventually discharged without a diagnosis due to us missing one appointment that THEY had changed at the last minute whilst we were on our honeymoon, I felt I had to accept the offer of going through Healios. I did check reviews out for them and was a bit concerned, however, they have been nothing but amazing! I felt so at ease with them during the video calls, all 3 consultants listened to everything my son and I had to say, I can’t fault them. From October 2024 to January 2025, the whole process was complete and my son received the diagnoses we were certain he would. They also offer a feedback session after diagnosis, where you can ask any questions you have. We’ve also completed this now and all of our questions have been answered. We’re so happy to have answers and for the fact that the process was so fast and stress free!

My daughter only spent 40 minutes with…

My daughter only spent 40 minutes with the clinician, and I spent an hour completing the parent assessment. How can anyone possibly expect to gather enough information for a proper diagnosis in that short amount of time? I’ve spoken to others who had face-to-face assessments and were in sessions for hours. The comparison is night and day.

The lack of thoroughness in the process is staggering. Various professionals, including her school and CAMHS, have expressed concern that my daughter has been let down by this service. In the end, I’ve had to go private, which is incredibly frustrating and disappointing after all the waiting.

I truly wish someone had warned me about Healios before I wasted time and energy on this. If you’re considering this service, my advice would be to wait for a face-to-face assessment instead—anything other than this rushed and inadequate online process. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Serious errors on much of the report. Eventually after many stressful calls, they admitted the errors. They never get back to you. Complaint supposedly with their governance team but haven't had one iota of communication with them after supposedly being referred to them a month ago. Just a completely horrendous experience

Lovely service

What a kind, and caring service. They carried out an assessment on my son. They made us both feel comfortable and listened to. They were so lovely throughout this process and even after. Very comforting. I am so grateful. Thank you

The therapist i had was terrible!

CAMHS referred me here to get cbt. I had 10 sessions which didn’t work at all. The cbt therapist was literally obsessed about my friend who i felt needed to be with me because i sometimes freeze and can’t talk about my problems. She portrayed him as manipulative. As well as that, when she blamed my depressive symptoms on my mum and dad divorcing, i told her it wasn’t that at all. She responded with “Well how would you know?” in a rude tone. She also replied rudely when i asked if it was possible to see a psychiatrist. “What would that do for you?” is what she answered. She told me that i was discharged from CAMHS and Healios. This made me angry because i had to ring up the gp to give me another referral. CAMHS happened to call me up today and i told them about what this cbt therapist said and they said that i was never discharged in the first place. The thing that makes me angrier is that the cbt therapist rung my mum up when she had a job interview. So my mum and the cbt therapist agreed that she would call my mum back later that day or week but that never happened. This resulted in lots of confusion and frustration just because this lady didn’t tell my mum what was happening. She also said i had low level symptoms of low mood despite my RCADS being really high for depression (i wish i had low level but suicidal thoughts and self harm is definitely not low level low mood as the therapist said). She told me that social services would be involved but CAMHS has never mentioned anything about that when i spoke to them about what was going to happen next. At this point, i should have been comfortable talking to her but i was never comfortable around her. I was always worrying that she would talk about my friend negatively instead of focusing on my problems. If anyone gets this lady, i feel very bad for them. I feel that many people write negative reviews for CAMHS but from my experience, they get therapy from Healios and think that it’s CAMHS’ fault for the terrible service when in reality, it’s Healios. Yes, CAMHS has flaws but it’s because Healios gives people negative experiences.

My son was on a wait list for 2 years…

My son was on a wait list for 2 years with CAHMS and finally referred to Helios. He did not want medication but wanted to learn how to overcome and understand himself. The clinical psychologist was fantastic (Jordon) built rapport, where it had so often it had broken down in the past. She gave him understanding, confidence and ownership of his mental health. I am not knocking medication but it would not have improved the quality of life long term for my son, he knew that. He has grown over the time with Helios and now stands a real chance of regaining his life because he has the skills and understanding. not just the drugs.

Thank you Jordon, a breath of fresh air just floated through our lives and gave hope,

Note to others, you need to work at this, have an open mind. They are not witch doctors they are mental health educators.

Avoid AT ALL COST

My friend got referred to this company after consulting a gp for depressive symptoms. To get in contact with this company, you have to literally harrass them, they dont reply to emails and you need to call them around 5 times before starting to get an """assessment""" with a camhs clinician.

After finally answering basic questions, they give you a treatment plan consisting of cbt/councelling therapy, no matter how intense your symptoms are. You could be on the edge of death and they will still talk about how you should try to get outside more or try to find hobbies. Its like medication is a taboo and something not accessible for the human nature. So basically, my friend who had suicidal thoughts for months now and who got worse and worse day after day was just asking for help but no one was here for them. They clearly needed medication but all camhs offered was useless cbt therapy trying to improve your relationships with your family, like that could prevent you from committing suicide. You dont even see a psychiatric until you get referred for medication. So my friend did 1, 2, ..., 7 sessions of cbt therapy that camhs offered via Healios. Despite not working at all at the beginning, camhs still persisted with these useless cbt sessions. Their cbt therapist contacted camhs for the introduction of a medication via email.

After 4 weeks after sending the email, still not a single reply from this amazing company. We tried calling them multiple times to see if they would give us an answer directly as they would not reply to the cbt therapist's email, but apparently you cannot get any information from these people. Where are the carers? Where are the psychiatrics? Why letting my friend and many others struggle?

All we asked for is help, but it looks like its too much asking. Avoid at all cost. Go private you will pay a little bit but save months of pain.

I can't comment on the service itself …

I can't comment on the service itself however as a recruiter, I don't think Healios is a disability friendly at all! My recent application was turned down with no specific reason, after I was open about my Neurodivergent profile in my supporting statement. I was aware that this particular job was very competitive, but I do believe that thanks to my skills and experience I did fully meet the criteria for it.

This company is the way of the future

Healios was recommended to us by the NHS in order to access faster care since the waiting period for our needs was unknown. I reluctantly agreed out of desperation, having waited nearly 3 years for this assessment.

As it turns out, allowing Healios to conduct this very important assessment proved to be one of the best decisions I ever made. Words cannot begin to describe how grateful I am to this company and the people it employs. The clinicians were very meticulous when gathering information. Never did they armchair diagnose or behave in a condescending manner. I felt comfortable asking questions and requesting clarification on certain matters, free of judgement. At no point did I feel rushed, nor did I feel as though the sessions took too long.

Thank you to Carl and Deborah for your invaluable help and for the compassion you showed every step of the way.

As with any review, there is one thing I want to gripe about. When it comes to certain conditions, Healios does not offer additional services aside from assessments and diagnosis. There is a major need for additional support after the diagnosis and I really hope your company taps into that eventually.
