Useless and incompetent
HCPC is not accountable! Why not?
I submitted a complaint about a practitioner who made factually incorrect statements and libellous comments about me on the NHS App. Following a lengthy process and exercising patience after submitting evidence, the response was that he was not found guilty. No meeting was held to discuss the findings. I appealed against the decision and was informed there was no appeals process, so it appears that HCPC is not accountable for its actions and staff are being allowed to practice without challenge. Isn't the Lucy Letby case highlighting the fact that allegations should be taken seriously?
Quit the NHS
The cost to renew your registration is expensive and has been a factor in my decision to quit healthcare in the near future. The website doesn't give you an itemized breakdown of what you are paying for in your registration and your emails never get answered. HCPC is a scam.

Concern raised against a Registrant with a minority view
I raised a concern against a practitioner who had a view which contradicted the view of many other professionals. It took 15 months to get a letter with a closure decision form as the threshold for an investigation had not been met. The case was closed before I had chance to review or comment. During these 15 months I was repeatedly asked for more and more information lots of it not relevant to the concern I raised. As part of the closure decision form I have concerns around statements such as 'it is not the role of the HCPC to challenge a registrant's professional opinion or to scrutinise the weight given by registrants to different pieces of evidence' 'there is no information to indicate that the Registrant routinely fails to achieve the appropriate level of clarity in their professional reports. As such this concern does not amount to current impairment.' My understanding from this is that the HCPC take a very lenient view on the professional conduct of its registrants. I would encourage concerns to be raised but beware of the little chance of success and the emotional toll it may take on you if you think your concerns are justified.

Money making centre,cheats international candidates of 495 GBP, doesn't revert back emails or answer calls.Once you pay the money for scrutiny and application,it has to respond within 60 working days but my daughter had to wait for a year for the unsuccessful decision like many others and then had to submit all documents and establish profiencency during appeal,which was 9 months later and then the appeal committee refered the case to Education training committee again and still they are working on it it's over an year and half now! Her application was submitted in March 2020 till now it's April 2023 there no proper answer from HCPC.The emails sent don't get replies what comes is automated ones.If you try to call locally or internationally no one to pick the call,if at all someone answers you will take round and round and asked to wait.
When HCPC is charging such huge amounts there should be proper redressal of candidates also!
In the meantime time my daughter also completed UK accreditation sent all the details yet nobody has replied till now what sort of an organisation which maintains high professional standards for others?First let it do introspection of self!

Cannot update my married name due to awful administrative processes. Tried in 2021 but an email went to junk to say a copy of my married certificate was needed so I had no idea. Tried again 2 weeks ago and no contact, details not updated. Phoned to contact number to be told it takes up to 10 days. I say it's been over 10 days, they say rather dismissively to give in "a couple more weeks", they can't do anything as its a separate IT department - no number given, no plan B given, just totally unhelpful. You'd think 1) they'd respect how important it is for details to be correct and not be so dismissive 2) A process which must be so common, surely I'm not the only clinician to get married?! Would be much smoother!

The administrative personnel treated me in the best of ways. Really nice people. International application, more than one year waiting time..Now it happened in 2020-2021 but for some reason the date of experience does not allow me to put the exact year.
I did not quite get the reasons why they did not accept my degrees from the European Union, recognized unis. with 4 years full time studies in Psychology ( and the two were a univ. of Sheffield - two year full-time master degree) with focus on counseling and psychology. I went on to a hearing where they asked me questions that were not asked to people with the same criteria and same master degree etc who were recognized. Anyway. My BS was a distance learning degree. It was my third bachelor degree. The rest of my degrees were all related to psychology too...=8 years in recognized European degrees. I was devastated but life goes on! Every obstacle is a new start. The staff are poorly trained and they have no idea what they doing.
I think HCPC should be dissolved.
Such a SHAME to have to say this but there is no other way to avoid reckless words.

A highly unethical and inept organisation, which egregiously processes fitness to practise concerns, whilst having a flagrant disregard for the principles of natural justice (for example, it lets a party make covert submissions). Its registrants get away with murder.

They need to change the system and make like Canada, Australia or USA. Start taking theory and practical so no need to deal with hcpc. What a waste of time. Totally disappointed😞.
The HCPC is an embarrassment to the UK
I have been registered as a practitioner psychologist under two national regulatory councils in my career so far, both in what would be considered 'developing' countries. My experience with them has been massively more competent than that of the HCPC's - something I never thought possible coming into a First World country. I don't know how it pretends to be a functioning organisation.
I have been waiting for my registration for over 10 months since applying as an international applicant. Everything on my end has been 100% in order. The Help Centre phone line doesn't work, emails don't get answered. This is obviously after paying a small fortune in application fees.
The UK is in desperate need of competent, experienced psychologists - something which the HCPC is single-handedly withholding from the public. Using Covid as an excuse with only get you so far. HCPC you need to do better.

I made a sarious complaint about a very arrogant incompetent, so called professional. The professional managed to get the complaint stoped. I faced smoke and mirrors for ages trying to find out why i was being treated very strangly by the HCPC. Turned out the so called professional was unhappy at the HCPC investigating a complaint made by someone with a learning disability. Yes, i did just say learning disability. This nasty professional let the HCPC think i had a learning disability. I have no learning disability of any kind. By the way, this nasty professional was not a mental health professional of any kind, and my complaint had nothing to do with mental health. The way the HCPC treated me when they thought i had a learning disability was scary. In the end the HCPC told me it was not for them to check the validity of that. They became too idiotic in the end to waste any more time with. Yes that person got away with the lot.

Terrible organization, customer service are incompetent at their jobs when you can get through to them.
Took them 10 months to process a complete a international registration application. Stating that they are awaiting referees to reply. I spoke to my referees and they replied to the HCPCs requests with 24 hours.
Wish my profession would obtain independent registration, I would rather pay more than ever have to deal with the HCPC again

I'm doing this on behalf of my wife.
She applied for license at Aug 2020, its now Oct 29th 2021. She did everything they asked her to do and she did. They don't respond to her emails and calls and especially my calls when I been given authorisation to speak on her behalf. I been told supervisors will call me back and they don't, I even tried to call their complaints team but their voicemail is always full and when I asked to speak to a supervisor they always seem to be busy??? Like 2 weeks???. She didn't know that the organisation were still waiting for verifications from her university, regulator and employer, they emailed these 3 back in Jan 2021 and we both heard about this 1st time in Sept 29th. Their system is broken and don't understand simple concepts and go everything by the book. This needs to change and need better service, this could be the reason why foreign nationals are leaving the country because theyre being treated unfairly. Who made HCPC the leading authority who gets to have the license to work here??? What makes them qualified to do this job???
Like a bad scam
Ironic we have to pay HCPC to be able to do our jobs, to be signed off for "professional conduct" , whey they themselves display none. Phone lines don't work, no replies to emails, clueless staff. Yet, i have to pay them to do my job, don't have any other choice. It makes my job seem like a bad scam.

Had the worst experience with them, a waste of time and money. They demanded a document that even does not exist (they didn't make that clear before I paid my fee). In my opinion just a bunch of corporativist beauticrats, not fit for purpose. Not useful for the patients as they limit the availability of trained and skilled professionals.

Hcpc is the worst organisation that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. What a shower of incompetent, useless, money grabbing, unintelligent 'people.' They delayed my registration saying they had no pass list from my university on multiple occasions over many years. I applied to be registered with them within the two year mark after finishing university so I should have been registered only paying £90 for the first 2 years of registration. Now they try and tell me it's my fault that my university did not send a pass list with my name on it. I contacted my University and they assured me that they had. Now they want to charge me double even though they sent me letters saying my application would be finished and processed in 5 days. Unbelievable greed. The 'human' (for want of a very better word) speaking to me can only say we have offered a solution and would not listen to a word I say. I will be making a sufficient complaint about Fatima and her line manager. Thanks for years of stress, a doubled fee and idiotic behaviour along with complete incompetence. She wouldn't even give me a number or email to speak to her manager. Awful company, it doesn't even deserve to be called an organisation, complete disorganisation.

We submitted 5 seperate complaints about 3 Council Social workers, a Cafcass child guardian and a Psychologist to the Health and Care Professions Council. they dropped all 5 cases claiming lack of evidence.
totally unacceptable. they need to be replaced with a body who DO investigate wrongoing.
