We are currently in the process of renovating our home and are looking at upgrading our almost derelict kitchen. Right from the offset, it has been a pleasure to work with a lovely lady called Hagar in the Cambridge branch. She comes with a wealth of knowledge and has exceeded all our expectations when it has come to service and design.

We've had a great experience with our designer Hagar which has made the journey easy. Nothing has been too much hassle and it's been a pleasure to work with her since the beginning.

I had great difficulty with several issues & Hagar remained patient, interested and engaged, working with me at every step until I was happy. She is a real asset to.the company!

Committed £1.5k to design our kitchen and utility. Stipulated at this point our budget for the both of £70k. Design took a number of months. Communication not always the best and emails weren’t always answered promptly but we had a number of positive and productive site visits by the HJ designer and I really wanted this to work out. Despite asking a number of times about the utility design this was brushed off. Focus then became the sign off resulting in the kitchen going to manufacturing and further financial commitment. This bit felt hurried as if there were deadlines or targets to reach! The costings were presented and were above the 70k budget! I asked about the utility again and if it was in the figures but was told it wasn’t! I asked for the full utility plans and full costings! These were received within the week but with a number of items missing or still to be added such as handles which can push the cost up considerably. As a courtesy I advised that I would be approaching other company’s locally to compare pricing. We saw a few which were recommended and one stood out. We viewed the show room and the work shops and were guided through there process, seeing the craftsmen at work and the process was fantastic. Pricing wasn’t too different but because of the seads of doubt with Harvey jones, the failure to stick to budget or at least be advised an increase would be required at the initial consultation that coupled with communication errors and measurement mistakes we lost confidence in there ability to achieve the project on budget or at least a revised budget. We decided to go with an alternative company local to us with comparable quality and price.

Cannot urge you strongly enough to avoid this company at all costs.

The staff are arrogant, dismissive and entirely disinterested in anything other than taking your money. Despite their much-touted guarantee, installation and manufacturing defects are ignored unless you persistently chase them for a response, at which point you're fobbed off with a promised visit some weeks into the future - which invariably doesn't actually fix the problem.

They do all they can to divert you elsewhere - blaming appliance manufacturers for their poorly made and fitted cabinetry (despite selling and installing those appliances themselves).

18 months on, well over £50,000 spent and we'd have been better off going to Wickes.

I had the pleasure of working with Harvey Jones Kitchen on a project that lasted over two years. The delay was due to my extension work which lasted longer than expected. Throughout the entire process, I received exceptional support from Rodger, who played a crucial role in planning, choosing the kitchen, worktop, and appliances.

Rodger was incredibly patient and attentive to my needs and preferences. He took the time to understand my vision for the kitchen and provided valuable insights and recommendations. His expertise and knowledge were evident as he guided me through the various options available, ensuring that I made informed decisions.

Despite the lengthy duration of the project because of the delay at my side, Harvey Jones kept the prices they quoted , despite the increase in price across the products I’d chosen. They were transparent in their dealings, and there were no surprises or hidden costs along the way. Their dedication to providing excellent customer service and ensuring my satisfaction was evident throughout the entire process.

Hagar took over the project towards the latter stages of my kitchen and she carried on with Rodger’s great work seamlessly and her dedication and support ensured my kitchen delivery and installation went smoothly. The end result exceeded my expectations, and I couldn't be happier with my beautiful kitchen. The attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, and seamless integration of the chosen worktop and appliances have transformed my space into a functional and aesthetically pleasing area.

I highly recommend Harvey Jones Kitchen, especially the outstanding support provided by Rodger and Hagar. Their professionalism, patience, and commitment to delivering a remarkable kitchen experience are truly commendable.

We would like to thank Rodger Lloyd for explaining clearly the H-J range and discussing constructively what might suit our needs best. He was always courteous, he listened carefully and worked well beyond closing time on Saturday. Unfortunately, we could not find the right option within the potentially accessible price range (why are dull colours so fashionable?) However, we part on excellent terms, and would recommend H-J generally and Rodger in particular should you have the budget for this very high quality kitchen range.

The initial discovery session with Rodger Lloyd, Cambridge showroom was very informative and the plans everything we wanted.

After a promising start, our kitchen project turned into a (seemingly) never ending nightmare which ultimately resulted in us making a claim against Harvey Jones. That claim has just been settled.

There are too many failures to list here but to give you a flavour of the issues we faced: the damaging of units and our kitchen floor during the incomplete delivery process; failure to provide an inventory so that missing items only came to light as work progressed, exacerbating delay; providing the wrong version of the plans to the installer; repeatedly failing to supply the missing items to the correct specification, one small unit took 5 attempts; providing units that did not match the design, resulting in delay as they were replaced; design elements that did not work in practice and had to be worked around etc. The upshot was that a 5 week project ultimately took 16 weeks to complete, with all of the commensurate stress and frustration generated by the catalogue of failure and incompetence.

What became increasingly clear as things went wrong was that there was no overall recovery process, a lack of attention to detail and quality assurance, poor communication and a glaring lack of accountability or proactivity (until by chance our site representative changed).

We were repeatedly told that we were "unlucky" and that things don't usually happen this way. However, a test of any company is what they do when things do go wrong. Harvey Jones failed that test.

Great talk through starting up the ranges on offer, what makes Harvey Jones great, and an overview of the design and kitchen installation process. As a newcomer to this process this was a fantastic introduction from Rodger to the next steps.

I had a most interesting hour and a half discussion with Roger Lloyd at the Harvey Jones Branch, Cambridge regarding my kitchen project. He was enthusiastic, thorough and gave me an accurate idea of costs, design, etc. He managed to achieve a standard of professionalism without adopting ruthless marketing practices to sell the product. A great brand ambassador for the company.

Rodger’s energy and enthusiasm from the start was really infectious and he did a great job of channeling both the ideas of myself and my husband into designing our project.

The company supplies top quality product, which Rodger our Sales Consultant at Cambridge was able to clearly demonstrate. Rodger was very accommodating in the design stage, willing to listen to our views and come back with his own, to ensure that we came up with the best design for our future kitchen.

I have been working with Rodger and Immanuel in the Cambridge office over the last few months on my staged kitchen project and they have both been exceptional to deal with - very friendly and accommodating, extremely knowledgeable and professional and its been a pleasure getting as far as the first stage in my kitchen re-vamp. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to anybody who is considering a new kitchen.

AVOID Cambridge Harvey Jones

Save your money and buy a Wickes/Howden's kitchen and pay a decent builder to fit it. For the first time in our lives, we decided that our new Victorian house deserved a bespoke kitchen and were too busy to project manage it. We thought the extra money would be worth it as HJ assured us they would take care of everything. That was a total lie. The design was started by one person and then taken over by Rodger. The kitchen design was done using rough measurements, but they gave us a form to sign to say we would accept responsibility for any issues with the cupboards we received. We refused to sign until they sent someone out to measure up properly, which they did under duress. Regardless, there were STILL errors that affected the final look of the kitchen. Rodger continually tried to blame us for his mistakes (of which there were many). The tradespeople they recommended we use were required to do a lot of extra work to make up for Rodger's incompetence, and HJ did not want to compensate them for it. We ended up having to project manage as HJ did nothing and I managed to avoid several expensive issues by picking up on some of Rodger's mistakes. I could not list all the hassle we went through, and it took over 6 months to get the kitchen to the point where I just decided to give up as I wanted them out of my house. They offered us barely any compensation and their disgusting customer service left us absolutely enraged.

I will never again buy a bespoke kitchen and certainly NEVER from Harvey Jones. I recommend you avoid them entirely.
