As a loyal customer I can say that customer service was awful with untrained staff in Harry Ramsden's in Bournemouth in our last visit 11/08/20. We will never visit this restaurant again. Let tell you why?You should teach your staff how to be polite and avoid rudeness when they informing customers about new rules (ex. social distancing). Your front man's behavior, who was working on that day between 1-1.30 PM was unacceptable and the way how he treat us was very rude.
Visited Harry Ramsdens blackpool on…Spreading corona virus.
Visited Harry Ramsdens blackpool on 8/8/20. Staff were not wearing masks or visors . I witnessed staff delivering food to tables not wearing anything to protect customers. They were stopping to talk to other staff whilst holding plates of food, they were not wearing masks and this is not a good sign. The droplets from their mouths whilst talking was falling onto the food in their hands below. When they reached my table she put the food down on table right below her mouth and chatted to us for a couple of minutes. Not good at all. Who is overseeing the potential risks these places are in danger of spreading, ie vivid 19.

Went to Cheshire Oaks
Went to Cheshire Oaks, main aim was to go to Harty Ramsdens. Got there when it opened. Take out only. Only serving 2 people at a time. Very slow service took 20 mins to get served only 2 people in front of us. Chips not upto standard. In fact were disgusting, the fish was awful No ketchup or tartar sauce offered Had to pay 30p for each. Paid over £30 for 2 meals. Ended up throwing them. Made me feel sick. What a bad experience. Went back in to complain. Not interested.
Disaster at Harry Ramsden’s The Three Bridges
Harry Ramsden’s The Three Bridges, Newhalls Road, South Queensferry EH30 9TA
I had the misfortune to visit your restaurant in Queensferry yesterday at approximately 1.30pm with my wife and a friend visiting from London. I have to say that the whole experience was an embarrassment. The restaurant was totally empty at the time and devoid of any atmosphere which was not helped by the staff who seemed indifferent at best.
My wife ordered Harry Ramsden's famous fish and chips choosing cod instead of the more popular haddock served in Scotland. I ordered the pie of the day, which, I was informed, was chicken. Only to be be told later that this was not available and that cheese and vegetable pie was the alternative, I chose the sausage and chips. Our friend ordered Caesar Salad with small goujons of fish and chicken pieces probably cut from a chicken burger. This was completely dry on top of a very small portion of limp lifeless greens which was supposed to be Caesar salad. My wife's deep fried cod looked less than appetising as the batter was totally overcooked and burnt. She chose the Cod as there is usually a larger meatier piece of fish. She had to scrape what was left of the fish from the batter and got thin flakey strips. She said at the time it was the worst ever fish and chips she had ever had comparing it to our local Tavern which serves fish and chips with a wow factor. You would think that nothing could go too wrong with sausage and chips. However, the chips were the worst cheapest variety of chips that I have encountered. Certainly not hand cut, being uneven and mixed with end cuts. Having a catering background I know the quality available from commercial suppliers. Your chips would make Mr McCain blush.
I have read the mixed reviews you have received. Unsuspecting tourists may accept these standards to be the norm for catering in Scotland but for the discerning locals this is not acceptable and will do nothing to enhance your reputation. Interesting to see quotes from Escoffier on the wall, has anyone there read Larousse Gastronomique of his other titles, I doubt it.
What’s gone wrong
What’s gone wrong ! Harry Ramsdens use to be great but they have gone down hill rapidly, on last two visits to the Trafford Centre Manchester they had no Haddock this on both Friday lunch times. anyway felt like fish do ordered the Cod - soggy batter & tasteless, chips barely warm peas watery and a strange looking bread roll slightly bigger than a crouton that tasted stale and they have the neck to charge £12.00
I won’t be going a third time.
Hair In Food..!
The wife and I stopped for fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens at J21 M1 on Friday Jan 31st.
Food not too bad, with the fish nice and hot and the chips borderline ok on the good side of warm.
We did however have to wait a couple of minutes to be served even though there was nobody else in the queue.?
The major downside was after getting through some of the food I found a long brown hair in between the chips and following that the rest had to be discarded.
Such a shame that a hair was found, spoiling the occasion.
If the 2 very young dark haired girls looking after the place were a little more conscientious then this could have averted.
Just had breakfast bap at oxford…
Just had breakfast bap at oxford services it was rubbish. That must have been the cheapest bread roll known to man two pieces of bacon slapped on top a black coffee £6.42. What a waste of money.

We had a very disappointing meal at Eastbourne the service was very slow almost an hr to get meal and the restaurant was not even half full. The cod was a regular fish and chip meal the fish I'm not sure was cod it was very thin not flaky at all when I asked waitress about it she informed me that small ,regular, and large are done bye weight. So small and regular you get the tail end no meat and large you get the meaty end this seems to me you get different quality food if you pay more surely not right I have complained to customer services but no reply as yet .

I orderd for delivery last night at 8 15pm and said would deliver around 8 45 PM paid by debit card never got my order tried to chat online through just eat took ages they said phone the restaurant but I could only find just eats number in london will never buy again disgusting service
Harry Ramsdens Halifax.
Harry Ramsdens HALIFAX is TERRIBLE
Home Delivery
1 - boxes were half size of standard fish & chip shops
2 - Fish were the same length as a pencil serious no kidding.
Batter was chewy and reheated.
3 - Chips are NOT chip shop chips. Even oven chips would be better than the pre-frozen, dried out processed mash they assaulted my taste buds with.
4 - Cost. At £10 you get half the meal for 50% more cost
Tried to complain to shop but the phone continually engaged.
Thrown in the bin.
We will NEVER go near Harry Ramsdens again.
My recommendation:
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Chips are disgusting about 1/8 are black
Visited the Trafford Centre site on 18/12/19 at 1440…
Visited the Trafford Centre site on Wednesday 18/12/19, really disappointed with the service & standard of the food, spent £20 on two portions of fish and chips with Curry, one large & one regular portion ( would argue that the meal sizes should be described as medium and small, took food over to the seating area and noticed the chips were freezing cold, took them back & was given a fresh set of meals, took them back to the seating area sat down and again the chips were freezing, by this time I just wanted a refund, took them back over to the counter and was told they would make a fresh set of meals, lady that served us was apologetic but then handed over two Regular (small) portions at which point I had enough and just took them back over to eat.
Sent an email to them when I got back & received a standard reply that they would be in touch ASAP - still waiting.
Such a shame that a great brand has let them selves down.

Standards have slipped dramatically in Harry Ramsdens Bournemouth
Visited Harry Ramsdens Bournemouth on a very cold day in November. It was like eating in a fridge! No heating on whatsoever. Have eaten their many times in the past, but standards have slipped dramatically. Dirty and torn seating. The seniors meal fish portions have reduced greatly also the portions of bread and butter pudding have reduced in size. Very disappointed. The service by Carlos our waiter was as good as ever, but we feel sorry for the staff who have to work in the cold all day. What is happening to this restaurant? It used to be a joy to eat there! Please get it sorted or you will lose many loyal customers from this prime location.
Cold food in Bournemouth
We went to Bournemouth on a quiet week day with our 15month daughter. On a cold day we wanted a hot lunch.... walking into HR was therefore our first mistake.
The chips were cold when they came out. When we commented we were given “that can’t be so” but they still brought out a portion more each. They were luke warm. I’m not one for confrontation so we ate our meals. But it was not enjoyable as the whole thing was verging on being cold.
We did get £10 off our order at the end to go towards compensation; but I’d have rather paid full price and enjoyed my meal.
The place wasn’t busy as it was a week day in November, but they still insisted on sitting us next to another filled table and when they left full that table again. There was no customer satisfaction and it put a dampener on our family day out.
I will never go into a Harry R again due to this experience.

Avoid! Overpriced, small portions and don’t cater for allergies when they say they do
After spending a lovely day at our beach hut in Bournemouth, we thought we’d end the day with some fish and chips. With my father being allergic to gluten, we checked the website and saw that they could provide him with chips.
After a 20 minute wait for take out, was told that there was nothing they could provide him with as the oil they use for chips would also be used for battered produce which he is unable to eat.
Being one of the biggest fish n chip chains in the UK, I think this is absolutely disgusting that you don’t cater for everyone.
Not only that, but everyone else’s meal was extremely poor, over priced and were such small portions!!!! Living here for 30 years, I can say that this is the most disappointing fish n chips I’ve ever had and definitely won’t be returning or recommending!
Awful value! Harry Ramsden!
Today at Eastbourne ended the day with two take away cod and chips with mushy peas.
Ruined the day!
What a rip off! £17.50
Chips cold
Small pot of mushy peas £1.25 a rip off
‘Large’ cod should have been medium
Sauce 30p per satchet
Our advice, give Harry Ramsden a wide berth !
Harry Ramsden's Worthing, Healthy, Tasty, Nourishing
Visited Harry Ramsden's in Worthing as had a beach trip on a hot BH August with my family, 5 of us. Now there are 4 or so cafeteria type fish n chips shops just round the corner, cheaper, but much busier and setting not quite as good (think Sun readers). Prob would not have got seats, or iced water, dunno about quality of food, but would have cost between £25 - £37 (I checked).
Bought 4 meals, 2 Haddock, 2 Cod, changed peas to beans, got a lemon 🍋 quarter, tartare sauce and unlimited fat chips for £10.99 each. Picked up plenty of serviettes for meal (& later 😉), asked for tap water and got 2 jugs served with ice and lemon slice.
Food was great, I tried both fish but Haddock was recommended and justified. Crispy, nourishing, hit the mark. Chips were brilliant and we each refilled these.
Salt and pepper shakers, Sarsons Vinegar, Heinz Ketchup and Hellmans Mayo bottles were placed on our table for our use. Cutlery, plates n glasses were all clean (I've worked as a Kitchen Porter previously, so was observing ☺)
Also worth noting, one of my flock refuses to eat fish, so she 'shared' our chips (and lemon), including the refill. The restaurant had no issue with this, nor did they charge the potential £2.50 for her chips that they could have. We didn't take the mick by asking for a spare plate.
Waitresses were friendly and attentive, bathroom nearby, same level and clean enough (6/10)
Wasn't too busy inside, no queue at all, prob cos of the chav shops, shop was airy and AC was on - needed this to counter the 33°C outside! Food was served promptly, refills took a couple of mins, in hindsight we coulda ordered them a little in advance.
I paid £43.96 - perfect meal towards the end of a perfect day. Will def. go back again. In case HR are reading, I did not tip as had already been rinsed by Worthing beach pier etc, not a reflection on service or staff.
Never read a review of Harry R's before, amazed at the ones listed, could not be further from the truth in my case. One of the few positive reviews, written in CAPS, seems fake, which is annoying, I can assure mine is definitely not. Also don't understand how a car parking fee means HR get a 1 star 🌟 rating, moreso when the food and drinks are reported as great! Still got my receipt if anyone doubts.
