A beautiful spot, with enough variety and further options to keep even a hardened traveller satisfied
Overall a very good trip. It was a shame about the train cancellation, a 3 hour wait in Paris a later train out of St Pancras should have been considered.The stopover in Turin was a good chance to see the city. We had longer here than Venice. The tour guide Simon was exceptional and everyone on the trip had a good word for him. The hotel in Desenzano was first rate and the meals which were provided at the hotel were very good even though you had to choose a day in advance. The breakfasts were also outstanding with a good choice. The reason for only 4 stars was because of the trip to Venice which was the highlight of the overall tour. We went on the Sunday when there is a limited timetable which meant we arrived in Venice at 11.40.Met the guide at 12.30 and back on the boat at 3.30. Total of 3 hours in Venice with a guide who stuck to the back streets to avoid the crowds. Showed us the Rialto Bridge but didn't take the group on to the bridge. A trip to Venice should be a full day trip leaving at 8.00 and travelling back at 6.00 which would give everyone plenty of free time to explore a unique city. Any day but Sunday would work. This would mean cancelling a meal at the hotel but you could eat in Venice or find somewhere in Desenzano when you return. This was a very enjoyable holiday which I would recommend.
Lake Garda is beautiful although quite busy. The pace of this holiday was spot on for us with a good balance between organised trips and free time to explore. The hotel and Desenzano were lovely places to come back to after a day out. The meals at the hotel were excellent as was breakfast. The hotel rooms are spacious and very well equipped. Bus and rail travel around the area was easy. A pleasant surprise for everyone was Turin, an attractive city worth exploring.

Beautiful, relaxed, interesting tours, good free time, a superb tour manager, and good company made for a terrific holiday
A really supportive and helpful tour manager, a great group of fellow travellers, excellent excursions and loads of free time. All hotels were excellent. Travel was a little challenging due to delays and cancellations but this is completely outside the control of GRJ. We would strongly recommend this as an alternative to flying as journeying across the Alps by train is stunning.
Overall this was a great experience. The tour struck just the right balance between organised trips and time at leisure; the excursions were excellent; the party leader did a really good job; all the hotels we stayed in were ideal; our fellow-travellers were good company; and we enjoyed having overnight stays in Turin and Chambery. The only reason for not rating this as a five-star holiday was the first day of the outward journey: the journey from Paris to Turin was spent in a hot, cramped, not very clean train which was delayed by about 90 minutes, with the result that we finally reached Turin before the restaurant closed (just before 11pm). Not a great rail journey! That apart, the holiday could not be faulted.
All 3 hotels were brilliant,great food & accomodation the day trips were well organized & fun. Fantastic organization from our tour guide John Grimwade, Lovely holiday.
A fantastic holiday and what's not to like about the whole experience - A1. 5 stars. GRJ tour manager ensured that the tour was exactly what it said in the brochure.
Overall very good break a few things that could be improved on
The trips were lovely Hotel was acceptable although I wouldn’t say 4 star Pool was very small Some of the travelling was tiring due to long waits between trains The tour manager was excellent
Really good holiday. Well organised. The office team were very helpful with the booking & then sending further updates as needed. The tour guide Kay was extremely helpful with ideas of where to go on the free days & ensuring we were all informed of the planned trips out. One thing though, whilst most of us could get on & off trains individually without needing help.Getting 26 people off & on the trains in a timely way is another matter. Maybe if the station staff were aware that a group was on the train it might help? But great holiday all round.
Greaf holiday, lots of beautiful siggts and experiences Especially Venice and Isola del Garda Nice to briefly visit Sirmione, Turin, Chambery and Brescia Long train journeys and lots of tooing and froing though

good holiday, excellent tour manager Chris, good balance of organised trips and free time, hotels and transport all good, hotel in desenzano quite a walk from the lake side, this wasn't a problem for us but could be for less mobile people, but there was a local bus available. Local guides on excursions excellent
Great holiday company, looked after very well
Disappointing. Loved lake Garda but hated the chaotic travel & transfers of the trip. Accommodation adequate. Meals mostly underwhelming. Scheduled itinerary amended so only 3 HOURS in Venice, in addition to several other short notice amendments to excursions that were equally as disappointing. We don’t recommend this trip
Lovely hotels and a good combination of free time and organised tours. Unfortunately we suffered two trains breaking down which rather upset itineraries. Made the journey home a nightmare. These tours are also reliant on a good tour manager.
Lake Garda is beautiful and a great place to spend a week
