I bought a book from GreatbookpriceUK but via Abebooks. The book was advertised as being a hardback copy, in very good condition. When received the internal pages were in mint condition but there was no external book cover (not disclosed at purchase) and for some reason that I cannot fathom, two large barcode stickers had been stuck directly on to the back of the book. These were the sellers sales reference barcodes and obviously damaged the hardcover of the book.
I contacted the seller who did not reply and then contacted Abebooks who said they would contact the seller on my behalf. Abe then confirmed the seller had not replied to them either.
You cannot leave a review of the seller on Abebooks as they do not offer a buyer rating system, only an order completion system. This is flawed and is only beneficial for the seller. I mean, if you can’t get a reply from the seller to send the book back, then they will never have a bad completion rate will they?
Abebooks confirmed that my complaint had been added to the sellers account and that the Customer Trust Team would be in touch with them to ensure future compliance (whatever that means!?!)

I want/need to add to the chorus of disapproval here. This is truly a terrible online bookseller; maybe the worst out there. Books sent via international post/courier require sufficient and appropriate packaging. My hardback book arrived in the UK from the US in nothing more than a plastic bag and was battered as a result. Customer service is unresponsive and quite possibly completely absent. Avoid like the plague!

Don't buy from them. They "sell" books they don't have on stock, then wait - 2 weeks in my case - until you inquire about it to tell you and refund your money. Shameful.

I have notified Abe Books several times that the book, A Descant on The Universal Plan Corrected arrived July 24 with a 23 page poem by John Peck and 29 blank pages. Nothing by Lemuel Haynes. Is this a misprint? There was no indication where to return it to, so I have been unable to do so. I have written to GreatBookPrices (which appears to be Abe Books), and even written to the publisher, support.creativemedia.io. Last week Abe Books' customer service advised me they cannot help me.

I paid $20.00 for what I thought was a 260 page book. When I received it, it was a 79 page book. They would not accept a return. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM FROM 3RD PARTY SELLERS LIKE Abe Books. You will get cheated.

GBP's courier delivered the book to a completely different address - not only did we not recognise the photograph, but the dropped pin on the map was at least 3 miles from where we live.
Three times we asked for a refund (twice invoking the Consumer Rights Act 2015) but to no avail. We have now had to submit a chargeback request to our bank instead.
it is truly scandalous that companies are allowed to get away with behaviour like this.

A book I ordered via AbeBooks, sold by GreatBookPricesUK, was not fit for purpose. It was called an Anglo-Saxon Dictionary, but was a printing of some words beginning with A (as far as those beginning with "ae") but nothing more. The book had been printed with such little attention that it ended mid-sentence. It is an absolutely shoddy product, and not what it claims to be. I received a refund of the book price, though not the cost of returning it, so I assume AbeBooks contacted GreatBookPrices about the problem. I received no acknowledgement that this product should not have been put on sale. I don't think we should accept the idea that it's ok for people to sell lousy products in the hope that buyers will not bother to complain or ask for refund. It's not ok.

I ordered a book that was described as a hardcover and received a paperback. Trying to return it was difficult and then they didn’t pay for return shipping. So I lost money for their error. Horrible customer service. When I think of the time I wasted communicating with them on top of paying a return the book… actually it’s a great business model. Sell on a platform where there are no revenues and screw people over. It the American way.

Over 10 days and I am still waiting for my book to ship. I have sent them messages about this on Abe Books and this shop just sends a canned response that the order is being processed. I have reported them to Abe Books.

I ordered a book from them. They sent it with the wrong address. I sent them a screenshot show. I never got it because they said I had the wrong address even though it had the wrong address because they put it on there. They told me I had to wait for them to get it back before they could pay me for their mistake. Ordered book incorrect edition. Emailed them but so far no response.

I ordered a book on 3/4/26, was told it shipped, and was given a tracking number. It was supposed to arrive by today the 24th. Tracking number comes up as USPS has not received the item yet. As you can see from the other reviews this site appears to be a scam. Now Im out the book and my money. Will be forwarding this to any scam site review I can find.

Ordered a book costing nearly £50 from these people, on the 19th January 2026. Expected delivery 14th February. Has never arrived.
Have received no help or support from this clients, nor any response to my last two e-mails.
They gave me a tracking number for a firm ppxtrack.com, which it turns out is somewhere in the Far East. So the impression which they give of having U.K. based stock is false.
Have given up any hope of receiving either book or a refund. Although an initial contact from Abebooks, having picked up on my my emails to to this "firm", suggested that they would address this issue, no further movement from them.
I have learned only recently that Abebooks was acquired by Amazon, so would have very little confidence in them bothering to help.

This book seller does not have good business integrity. I will not buy anything from this seller again.

Very disappointing, order placed thru abebooks, I checked the seller was listed as UK. Expected on or before 30th January. Checked tracking on the 30th and it was showing as being in Illinois, US. I sit here awaiting a gift for my daughters 18th birthday which appears to be doing a world trip! Any messages I have sent to the seller have not been responded to.

I ordered a murder mystery book through abe books in December not realising that it was great book prices uk who were the sellers. When the book arrived at the beginning of January it was the wrong book. I ordered an E.C.R.Lorac murder mystery and received a missing passages from the bible. Not quite the same. I’ve been going round in circles asking for the mistake to be rectified. All I’m getting is an automated reply telling me my book has been delivered. Yes a book has been delivered just not the right one. I’m going to try asking for my money back. I don’t hold out much hope though.

I ordered a book from GreatBookPricesUK through Abe Books. GreatBookPricesUK purport to be a GBR company, which is true in as much as their registered office address is in England. However, the address is actually a firm of accountants. The actual company is GreatBookPrices in America.
I ordered a book on 12th Dcember 2025 with a 5 - 14 Business Day delivery promise. It wasn't despatched until 30th December and finally arrived on the 15th January.
It is a softback book which was sent in a thin plastic mailer. Fortunately it arrived in good condition.

Never received the book. Never replied to my messages. Absolute scammers.

STAY AWAY!!. Ordered a book in june 2025. Never arrived. No refund. Just automatic email-replies.

On 12/11/25 I purchased on the eBay platform a book entitled Rome from Great Book Prices Store (Item ID 38909358416; Oreder # 21-13980-55163). The link said the book would be delivered by Christmas, but when I paid I was given a delivery date of early January. I immediately contacted the seller to cancel the order. The book arrived on January 5, 2026. It was advertised as a “coffee table book.” What a joke-- it was in fact more like a magazine with low quality photographs. I contacted the seller to return the book and was told to go to my “Purchase History” and follow the instructions. However the book does not appear in my Purchase History. When I advised the seller of this fact I was told to contact eBay. However, eBay cannot process items not in my Purchase History. You should steer clear of this seller.
