Dreadful company
Dreadful company. Ordered 8am Friday morning for delivery Saturday (we were having friends round on Sunday). Sunday morning and the product still hadn’t been posted. Customer service joke - AI automated response saying we can’t cancel the order because apparently it has been shipped which is a lie because DPD have confirmed they haven’t got it. Can’t get my money back. I’m now getting spammed with promotional emails. The whole thing feels like a scam. AVOID

We want to
address these concerns directly and candidly. Great Balls of Flour is most certainly not a scam; we are a small, independent team committed to quality, though it’s clear we missed the mark here.
Regarding the delay, there is currently a live banner on the website and an update on the delivery page advising of a 1–2 day delay to orders.
As a business that prioritises staff wellbeing, the team is away from their desks over the weekend. To ensure customers aren't met with total silence, AI is used to handle certain enquiries during these periods. It appears the automation provided incorrect information regarding the shipping status, and for that, we sincerely apologise.
If an order has not yet been collected by DPD, our policy is to cancel it and provide a full refund immediately. We have no intention of withholding funds for a service that hasn't been delivered.
We value the "raw perfection" of handmade dough, but we strive for better than this regarding our service. The team will be looking into why the systems didn't provide the clarity deserved in this instance.

Disgusting. The dough is so salty it’s completely inedible, one bite and had to throw it in the bin.

We're sorry to hear your pizza ended up in the bin—that’s the last thing we want to hear.
Regarding the saltiness, we stick to a very strict percentage of salt in our recipe, following traditional Neapolitan standards to ensure the dough is balanced and authentic. We haven’t changed a thing with how we mix or source our ingredients here in Yorkshire, so it’s unusual to hear it was inedible.
It might be worth looking at the combination of toppings used, as some cured meats or certain cheeses can often push the salt levels over the edge when paired with a traditional base.
We’d love for you to give it another go. Please get in touch with the team directly and we’ll get some fresh dough sent out so you can try it again.

Delivery was quick,
Bought the sourdough balls, yet to taste, but made pizzas with the tomato sauce topping and it’s very acidic and didn’t like at all, needless to say I never enjoyed my homemade pizza. 🍕 such a shame, the pizza sauce definitely makes the pizza!

We are sorry to hear the sauce wasn't to your taste. We use the finest tomatoes for our sauce to keep things authentic, and by nature, high-quality tomatoes do carry a natural acidity.
While we believe the toppings are there to compliment the dough, we know everyone has their own take on what makes the perfect pizza. If the acidity was a bit much for your palate, a tiny pinch of sugar or a drizzle of olive oil can often mellow those natural flavours out perfectly.
We really hope you enjoy the sourdough balls when you get round to them—they are the real heart of the bake. If there is anything else the team can help with, please just let us know.

The ingredients are so good and the dough is super easy to work with, especially with the very helpful ‘how to’ videos. We won’t go anywhere else now for all things pizza; the sour dough, pasata, mozzarella di latte crumb. Perfecto.

Since our dough is a fresh product, we know how important it is for it to arrive at the right temperature and in one piece. When things arrive warm or damaged, it's definitely not the experience we want for you. We’ll always look to make it right when the transit process lets us down.
