I personally prefer salt in my bacon. But it was very good and healthy.

Calling all chefs! DIY Bacon is here! Please note...this is not our Sugar-free Smoked Bacon. This is for the home chef Do It Yourself bacon enthusiast who wants to season, smoke, and prepare their own bacon.
Sliced Fresh Side Pork Bacon is a unique new offering for home chefs wanting to make their own bacon. It is not cured or smoked and tastes like fatty pork. Like our other bacon varieties, these slices do not contain additives, nitrates, preservatives, or dyes. Essentially, it’s “naked bacon” that can go anywhere as far as flavor depending on what spices you add. The only ingredient is pork. See for yourself why Fresh Bacon Sides have been a staple in country butcher shops for years.
If you are looking for a more conventional bacon (but without additives, nitrates, preservatives, or dyes), we suggest our Sugar Free Pork Bacon Slices.

Each package of Sliced Fresh Side Pork Bacon weighs approximately 1 pound.
Our farms are much different than conventional pig farms. On conventional farms, pigs are often kept in overcrowded pens and also administered antibiotics.
US Wellness Meats pigs are pasture-raised on family farms. They spend their entire lives roaming and rooting in green pastures. Pigs are foragers, and our pigs are outdoors every day (weather permitting) to forage for bugs, sticks, roots, etc. Since pigs have a single stomach, unlike the four-chambered stomach of cattle, we cannot raise a healthy animal on grass alone, so their diets are supplemented with non-GMO grains. They have never been administered antibiotics or added growth hormones.

This allows me to salt the meat to my taste. All other bacon is already salted, which is too salty for my taste. I also like the quality of the meat--the hogs are heritage breed and get to roam outdoors, eating wild food. Because the meat is uncured and frozen, its flavor is much better than all other bacon.

I ordered 3 pounds of this bacon. One package had extremely narrow strips of bacon and was mostly fat. The other 2 packages were decent in width. Also, this bacon had very little taste. Not something I would reorder.

This is my absolute favorite thing to order from Wellness Meats, and I like other things plenty well. I cut the pieces in half, lay them out on two baking sheets, add one drop of liquid monk fruit to each (for a touch of sugar-free sweetness) and use the back of a spoon to spread it along the piece. Then I sprinkle over a mix of salt, garlic powder, and paprika or hot paprika, and use the spoon again to smooth it out and kind-of rub it in. Put in the oven at 350 F, or 375, for a half hour. Wow, it is good!

I am really sorry but the bacon was slimy when it thawed (which I did in the fridge in a bowl in the wrapper) and it smelled bad. I did email on Saturday when cooking but of course you are closed and will talk to someone on Monday. Thanks US Wellness refunded my purchase and all their other meats are great. It appears I purchased the wrong bacon and so that was on me. I had no idea the bacon needed seasoning and smoked. I will read further before buying. Please overlook my first review.

Yes, this will cook up a little different from store bought bacon, but this is so good. I used it to wrap around a meatloaf and it worked great for that, I have to admit. It added a lot of taste to the meatloaf.

Season this any way you wish, it cooks up really nice. I like it any way... crispy or fatty. Unseasoned, it tastes like a really good cut of prime pork.
