Excellent service at all stages in the installation, with frequent visits to check that everything is working correctly. All transfer documents and warranties have been received. Final visit today from Matt Cunningham, his second visit. Everything is working well. I am recommending GSL to my neighbours. Thank you very much.

The installation by Grant Store Ltd was completed many months after my initial application via Solar Together.
The survey and proposal was sorted out promptly and I was surprised to be told that 12 panels would fit on my roof rather than the 10 I had expected. I agreed to a 12 panel system fitted on 3 separate roof aspects. This included a 5kWh inverter, a 10kWh battery and emergency power supply to give us power in the event of mains failures (which I consider a growing risk due the Government energy policy). This was in November 2024.
The recommended system needed to be approved by the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) because of the size of the inverter.
I enquired about the status of the approval several times subsequently and in May 2025 I was informed that the DNO would approve the installation but limit the export to 2kW. It was subsequently suggested that if I would have a 3.7kW inverter I would not need approval from the DNO and that the installation could be started almost immediately with no limit on the export. I agreed to this change and paid my deposit, some 6 months after the original proposal.
As an aside here, I am baffled why this option was not offered in the first place as the 5kW inverter was overspecified for my installation and was the primary cause of the delay..
The installation was scheduled quickly, but the scaffolders arrived a day late and delayed the other trades. The panel installers turned up and on surveying the roof from the scaffold announced that they could not fit 12 panels and would only be able to fit 10 (the number I originally thought was the maximum!). So on two of the roof aspects they fitted four instead of 6 panels.
When they went to fit the final 6 panels they were unable to because the scaffolding didn’t extend far enough.
The electricians agreed to work whilst the four panels were being installed, fitted the inverter, battery and associated switchgear on an outside wall, did all the internal wiring and commissioned the 4 fitted panels, so we eventually had 40% of the planned output on the day we expected to have the full system.
I was given some handover documents by the electricians. I read through this and discovered that despite all our previous conversation, they had fitted a 5kW inverter, not the 3.7 one we had agreed!
Another week or so later the scaffolders turned up and fitted the extra platform in less than an hour. A few days after that the extra panels were fitted to the roof and the system was fully commissioned. I reminded them about the inverter and a few days later the electricians turned up again to swap inverters.
Almost immediately the invoice for the balance was emailed demanding effectively next day payment.
However the invoice was for the original 12 panel system with 5kW inverter!
They promptly corrected and replaced this and I paid up quickly, and then waited for the DNO to sign off the installation.’
A few days later I was contacted by Grant Store for my electricity meter number. Apparently the number taken during the survey was incorrect. To their credit the DNO reacted quickly this time and I am now in possession of system which actually works very well.
My electricity supplier OVO then processed the SEG payment in just over a day.
It has been a protracted exercise riddled with errors throughout. I should say that I found all the tradesmen (all sub-contractors to Grant Store}were hard working, very courteous and skilled despite being sent on wild goose chases that must have wasted their time.
All Grant Store’s telephone staff were extremely pleasant and helpful; I spoke to them a lot because I had to keep ringing to chase them up. All these hard-working people seem to have been let down by what, as a previous business owner, I would class as very poor planning and administration, with apparently no slack built into their schedules and the tradesmen having to accommodate this, I guess at their cost.
It is a shame that what should have been a quick and easy installation was dragged out for so long, because their prices through the Solar Together scheme and the recommendation from my local authority were the reason I took this route in the first place.

Had David Joyce (heating engineer) at our property today in Lancaster and very knowledgeable and friendly. All questions answered and very efficient. Top bloke 👍

we had Liam the Electrician today to complete the central heating fitting.
He was here early and completed the electrical work quickly and efficiently. He was very polite and friendly and certainly knew what he was doing!
He was a pleasure to have in our home and is a credit to himself and your company
(p.s. he explained about no thermostat on the radiator in the hall because the main thermostat is there....silly us!!!)

A few problem arose after the installation of Heat pump at the end of April. Expertly corrected by Jamie. Kenny Hughes did an excellent job boxing in some pipes. I have telephoned the office recently and spoken to Ella Gorner and she has been most charming and helpful.

Elliot, sol and Henry absolutely brilliant. They went above and beyond. Excellent work and service.

The surveyor from GSL (Grant Store Ltd), conducted a thorough assessment for the installation of equipment needed to increase the energy efficiency and ventilation of my property. He explained an outline plan for the improvements, which I clearly understood, and am happy to proceed with the programme.

A young man called John came and fixed our boiler he explained everything that needed to be done he showed us the part that needed changing and what had broken he was very polite and we wouldn’t hesitate to have him back excellent service

The last day of the full installation was the electricians, Andy, Mike & Jack. Friendly, skilled and very efficient.
Overall GSL are outstanding.

Martin &garry arrived to fit the central heating they both worked none stop and we couldn't fault their work it is very neat and tidy , both were very pleasant and professional

I had solar panels and battery fitted. Everyone who was involved was great.from scaffolder who called to let me know he was running late, the team that fitted panels were so efficient, and neat and tidy, right to last team who were electricians. Really pleased all working well so far.
