Polished platform, weak service execution
I cannot recommend Catalant based on my experience as a client.
As the managing director of a global service business, I expected Catalant to provide a reliable, high-quality way to access independent expert talent. My experience was materially below that standard.
The main issue was responsiveness and execution reliability. In my case, projects were not reviewed or published in a timely manner, and I had to wait several weeks without a clear resolution. Follow-up through normal channels did not lead to the level of communication or ownership I would expect from a professional services platform.
The service model also felt too low-touch for higher-end client needs. Catalant’s platform may look strong digitally, but the operating process did not give me confidence that the right experts were being surfaced, reviewed, and managed effectively. I also had the impression that potentially relevant candidates were filtered out before I could properly assess them.
The candidate review process was another concern. Several applications I saw felt generic or AI-generated, and I did not see sufficient evidence that Catalant had meaningfully qualified each candidate before passing the workload to me as the client. In practice, I spent more time escalating, reviewing, and trying to create transparency than I expected from a platform that positions itself as a managed expert marketplace.
I was also concerned by the payment terms I saw for freelancers. A 60-day payment cycle is, in my view, not aligned with the standards I would expect in a professional independent consulting environment, especially when the platform depends on high-quality freelance talent.
Overall, the digital product may be polished, but the client service, responsiveness, candidate qualification, and service recovery did not meet my expectations. For clients who need dependable, high-touch support and fast access to trusted senior expertise, I would be cautious.
