The book has been reviewed in speculative fiction publications and embraced by fantasy reading communities whose enthusiasm for detailed secondary world building confirmed that the editorial calibration between depth and accessibility was correctly achieved. Did not expect to make genuine human connections through a publishing process. Expected professional courtesy and efficient communication. Got both of those and also people who seemed to genuinely care how the book and the person behind it were doing. The book is out in the world now and the relationships made during the making of it have outlasted the production schedule. That was not in the contract and it meant everything.

Nobody from my city has ever published a novel with a real publisher before. Walked into my local library last month and saw it on the shelf. Stood there for five minutes just staring at it. The librarian recognized me and started clapping. Will never forget that moment as long as I live.

The first proof needed revisions, especially with page breaks and headers. After feedback, the second version looked much cleaner.

Some editing suggestions were optional, which I appreciated. It felt more like guidance than someone rewriting my book.
