The customer service are always…

The customer service are always pleasant to a point, but in general very hard to get issues/defects resolved. When we are buying a house again, I will buy a pre owned property, or if I chose to buy new will certainly not go with Glenveagh homes.

Briefly, we purchased a new build Dec 21. We were not located in Ireland, except for short periods, (we now moved back), but are still finding issues with our property (defects with construction). These issues are now outside of their warranty as they see it, and they refuse to make repairs. So we shall make the repairs, which would have been easy for them to rectify (as they are constructing a new development, Hereford Park, Leixlip), but at the very least, reviews have long lasting effects.

I suggest others to contact the company, and if no positive result. Make the repairs yourself and file small claims or civil actions.

When we got the sang list preformed there were close to 100 defects in the property, and it took many months to resolve some of these issues.

Be that as it may, the following (are some not all) were not on the snag list --- within an week of buying the property (also raised with Gleanveagh)), we had a major leak in the bathroom due to the construction plumbers mistake (we also later had another leak in the attic as the outflow pipe was not properly installed - which also caused a lot of damage), which caused an major leak in the downstairs roof which was never repaired properly.

Within the same time period, on Christmas day 2021 the hop started to show defects, and although it was replaced, it was because the installation was incorrectly preformed. Glenveagh failed to leave enough ventilation (design defect), and to this day, we have found the wires can overheat and this company will still not take reasonability for this.

Also, the heat pump also had issues which took nearly a year to resolve, despite repeated visits and they again denied it was there fault.

In the last few months, the tiles in the bathroom have become lose. We have been informed again this was due to poor workmanship as the surface was not clean when the tiles were installed.

There are too many issues in total to address, but many other homeowners in the estate also have issues in their houses, and also do not receive any satisfaction. Pity there is no class action suit mechanism, available in Ireland but there are other tools available, which should be discussed with a solicitor.

It is a shame, as we had planned to buy a second property with this builder, but do not trust them.

So again, by advice, be present with a reputable snagger and go through issues with a fine tooth comb. It is sad that the old Ireland, where customer service was paramount has been replaced, by contractual clauses and the almighty euro. Houses are just thrown up, and quality builds are a thing of the past.

This house is very nice, but for defects which were so many.

Be very careful with this Glenveagh and I will not waste any more time with them.
