Well made. Could do with a button to automatically open it. The base is a bit wide, but you accept it when you know what its function is for.

Really loved new iteration on the umbrella! A very high quality umbrella that you can easily feel. It is great that I can throw it back into my bag even when it is super wet!

I am really happy with my new Gilley. I was a fan of the previous version but this new one is even better - I love how light it is and the new case design makes storage a breeze. It’s an absolute life saver in the rainy UK winter and keeps my bag and flat / office floor from getting wet. Need to order a few more as Christmas gifts!

The Gilley is a beautifully made product. It is sleek and appears well made. I like the case and that I can put it in my bag without worry that everything will get wet. It is a well made and beautful product....

I've been using the original Gilley for about a year and I could not recommend it enough. It's coped with the Cumbrian wind and rain and been an absolute blessing when I've attended events when I've been able to pack it away in it's case. No more soggy carpets or puddles on the floor due to a wet umbrella. So when version 2 was released with the faster open and close design it was definitely worth the investment. So far I've used the new version a couple of times and it does not disappoint. A lot less twisting is required to secure it away and open it. So I now have my original in the car at all times just in case and 2.0 is my go to umbrella.

I really don't like carrying umbrellas and Gilley has changed that completely. I bought the first edition and it was good - by then it was the first umbrella I liked to carry around. It stayed dry, I could stick it in my jacket, and I didn't forget it places. Now that I have the second edition, I am absolutely amazed by how much it's improved. It is now nothing short of a fantastic product and I love it. It is so easy to use, it works great, and it looks slick.

Love my new umbrella! So easy to bring with me everywhere - in my bag or bottom of the pram. Perfect for the dark and rainy winter weather.

So easy to put it back in my bag when I go to the gym or run errands and not have to worry about everything getting wet.  I don’t have to check the weather as much anymore as it’s always in my bag. I’m a fan!

Very cool design and good idea. I hate carrying umbrellas around when they get wet in the rain, so this one solves that problem, because I just put it in my bag after I've used it and my stuff doesn’t get wet. I'm also forever losing umbrellas - leaving them on the tube etc but because I can put this directly in my bag it solves that problem too! Seems strong and good in the wind too. A worthwhile investment!

It's solidly build, but takes brute strength to tear open the velcro holding the umbrella closed, push up the umbrella and (when you're finished using it) to wrap the fabric + velcro around the umbrella tightly enough to get it back in the tube. Also, when ordering, there's no indication of when to expect the umbrella. After a few days, a delivery notification came through, but it's from a company that is not Gilley.

ADDITION: Gilley got in touch after my review, offering to swap my purchase with version 2 of the umbrella, which addresses the 'strength' issues. I appreciate such a responsive company. The new design, in black, is due to be available from November 2024.

Such a great idea! I always hated getting on the tube with a wet umbrella and having to put it on the floor but you can just pack this one away into its case and put it straight in your bag. No more losing your umbrella on the floor of the restaurant/ pub! The Gilley umbrella arrived very quickly and I love the look. Seems very sturdy too.

A great concept, I was looking for something practical and it does work. However it is a faff and not the easiest to put back into its’ case. I’m quite small so perhaps it’s a bit harder for me to use. I’d say it isn’t for someone with a fast paced life as it can take some time to take out and put back in. It’s a lot to spend on an umbrella so it should be a more seamless process.
