Polite and helpful

I have a tricky situation. I live with 2 different names, one being my maiden name and one being my ex married name. My current account was opened before I got divorced but all my legal documents to verify myself are in my maiden name - changed after my divorce. This made opening my new account tricky. The customer service team were helpful and speedy with processing all my info once I supplied everything needed, and they were always polite.

Chip provides excellent customer service

I always find that Chip is quick to respond to queries. I requested account statements showing my account number (as the statements in the app didn’t show this) and Chip provided them to me the same day.

Shel was so helpful

Shel was so helpful! I used chat to ask a question about withdrawal penalties, and Shel answered super clearly but also perfectly succintly. No need to go back and forth with more questions (which sometimes happens even with the most helpful customer service) - she covered all bases first time, even things I hadn't asked.

Excellent customer service I had an issue with my account as I forgot my log in they had it sorted and I was able to access my account within about 30m minutes 👍

The bereavement team is poorly educated…

The bereavement team is poorly educated in probate law, disrespectful, and consistent in making a difficult time harder. There are better providers available

Chip has been helpful & supportive

Chip has been helpful & supportive. They prevented a criminal trying to access my account after O2 ported my mobile number to a scammer!
They suspected fraud straight away & protected me from potential loss.
I am so thankful to them & can’t recommend them enough if you are considering an ISA or other investment soon. It’s an easy to navigate on line App, that has many layers of security.

OK app but terrible Customer service

I've been with Chip for about 2 years,. its a decent app and product offering. I've been using the Stocks ISA but the in-built time delay between selling Funds stocks is 1-2 days, which in a volatile market is far too long! I decided to move to another platform. This is where the problems started. It has been 2 weeks + now and no progress since i initiated transfers. Chip creates problems at every turn. The customer service Chatbot agent is very poor and makes it extremely difficult to even message a human. Customer service is solely through the app and you cant speak to a person on the phone. Then when i did get to write to a human he got all of his info wrong and it was only after i showed him info from Chip website that he stated i could do a transfer. Im still caught in this painful transfer process !

Thanks for taking the time to share this and we’re really sorry to hear how frustrating your transfer experience has been.

You’re right that fund trades don’t happen instantly, your investments are managed by the experts at the world’s biggest asset managers and are processed through our Investment provider Seccl, Seccl Custody Limited acts as the custodian for the money held in an ISA or GIA with Chip.

We use them to provide the behind-the-scenes technology that powers our investment platform, and Seccl is responsible for holding your cash and investments.

What’s not OK is the difficulty you’ve had during the transfer itself. Transfers can take a few weeks depending on the provider, but you shouldn’t have been given conflicting information or struggled to reach proper support. We’re sorry for that and for the stress it’s caused.

Our support is app based, but you should always be able to reach a human when needed, if you do have any further issues we can be reached at hello@getchip.uk via email as well.

Good communication

In this day and age of poor communication-not wanting to pick up the phone and speak to customers, use of Bots etc, I have found Chip uk to be the opposite-they answered the phone and came back with a solution to my query in no time at all - a good service and very refreshing.

First Class Customer Care

I had a query regarding money that I had thought had been transferred to my Prize Savings Account. I went on an on-line chat with Keith, who was very supportive and promptly sorted out my situation. Even though I didn’t actually verbally speak to him ( which I prefer) .. The on line chat was very reassuring. It cemented my confidence in banking with Chip.

Chip don’t deserve a one star to be…

Chip don’t deserve a one star to be honest.

I’m an executor to my partners will and I’ve been trying without success for Chip to refund £50.13p,

I’ve had over 50 emails back and forth they don’t accept that I’m the executor and have been asking me for proof, I’ve sent them The Will, my passport, drivers licence, utility bill, letters from the bank, one minute they say yes you have passed the checks only to come back with something else.

Out of all the companies I’ve been dealing with Chip is by far the most bureaucratic of them all and the worst.

I would avoid this company at all costs with your finances would be my advice,

Minus five stars would be best suited for Chip

We’re really sorry to read this and we understand how upsetting and exhausting this process has been, especially when you’re dealing with a bereavement. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have.

We appreciate you providing extensive documentation and we’re sorry for the repeated requests. As a regulated financial provider, we’re required to complete very specific checks before releasing funds, these checks can unfortunately be stricter than those used by some other organisations, but they’re in place to protect the estate and prevent fraud.

That said, we recognise how frustrating it is to feel like the goalposts keep moving, and we’re sorry for the time and effort this has taken.

Prompt and quick resolution.

Prompt and quick resolution from the Chip customer service team. For me the high street banks are so poor with communication, for instance one bank keeps contacting me apologising for the late response to my complaint, what complaint? Then another bank on the high street, sent me a card and pin separately. After a month of not being able to open my account, I sent the card back, then they sent me a statement, I have not put money into this account? Going back to Chip, the account covers customer services by text within the app, password and pin numbers as expected and are unique to you. As I have identified myself as a vulnerable customer, the customer service team at Chip are outstanding.
