The worst pop up unregulated bank known to man.

My mother has £4k in the bank. She's now passed away and they are refusing to pay my mom's funeral!

Financial ombudsman have said they have tons of complaints, but due to them being unregulated they are awaiting more powers to argue against this delboy firm!

I didn’t draw on Chip’s service because of a change in financial priorities. What appealed to me was the welcome I was given to the Chip community. My experience with the company was genuinely pleasing and I felt valued as a new investor. Great experience; a shame I had to exit from Chip. If it helps, I would certainly recommend this investment company if future investors were to draw on this service provider.

Oustanding Service

Great experience. So quick to respond to queries and staff are so polite and helpful. Needed a statement for my tax return on one of the accounts I had closed. This had to be done manually by Chip but was still provided in less than 24 hrs. Outstanding service and would not hesitate in recommending them.

Saw Chip and was interested in their offers

I heard about Chip and was interested in their bank account where your money can earn you prizes. Setting up a new account was easy. Unfortunately when I went to transfer money the only way seemed to be through your bank account even though I added a debit card. Chip then want visual access to my bank account for 90 days. Absolutely no way so I shut my account immediately. A total waste of time.

Sorry to hear this was your experience, and we understand why that would feel frustrating.

To clarify, Chip uses secure Open Banking connections to link your bank account. This is what allows you to transfer money in and out, and to automate saving, we can't see or control your account in the way it might sound, it simply lets us read certain information, with your permission, to provide the service. It’s also time-limited and regulated.

At the moment, debit cards can be added for certain features, but bank transfers remain the main way to fund accounts.

We appreciate this won’t be for everyone, but thank you for giving Chip a try.

I needed to withdraw all my money in a hurry, no chance!!

I needed to withdraw all my money urgently to fund a house purchase. Since my bank (Revolut) was not on their special "list" I could not do a direct transfer. The only option was either transfer to another bank then on to Revolut or transfer to the general investment account and see if it was possible to transfer to Revolut from there. I tried what I thought would be the quicker option and transferred all my money to the investment account but it never arrived.
On contacting Chip they showed me the small print that says the transfer can take 4 working days - nightmare!!
I had no issue withdrawing from Monzo, Chase etc... so I suggest using those apps instead.

We’re really sorry to hear how stressful this was, especially with a house purchase on the line.

Transfers can feel frustrating when time is critical. Moving funds between accounts, particularly into or out of an investment account, can take up to 4 working days due to processing and settlement times. That said, we understand this isn’t always clear in the moment and can come as a shock when you need immediate access.

Regarding bank transfers, we currently support a set list of linked accounts through our open banking partner Truelayer, and we appreciate this can be limiting if your main bank isn’t included.

Your feedback is really valuable and highlights where we can improve both clarity and flexibility.

Excellent fast response to request for information

Ben at Chip was very helpful and provided me with a link to access a statement of interest earned very quickly despite the fact that I had moved my money from Chip to another provider only because I found a better interest rate. If Chip were able to offer a market leading instant access savings account I would be back with them as their service is excellent

Dreadful service AVOID CHIP

Dreadful service. Staff at Chip are unable to use their own app referring me to the wrong places. The app is clunky and impossible to use without help - I simply want to open a new Smart ISA. You can’t speak by phone to anyone so can only use the chat. If they get stuck on the chat (I also made a formal complaint) they just cut you off or ignore you! My advice - use Trafing212 far better service.

We had a slight problem the day before…

We had a slight problem the day before the deadline for transferring to our cash isa. I think it was our side not theirs. I contacted them in the morning and they sorted it all out by the afternoon. Very professional. And they followed up with emails checking everything was okay.
