I had my doubts about ordering a sofa online, but Furniture Story turned out to be amazing. The sofa arrived three weeks earlier than expected, the delivery team was extremely helpful (they brought it up to my flat and took away all the rubbish), and it looks exactly like it does in the photos. Absolutely delighted!

So I ordered my sofa before moving into…
So I ordered my sofa before moving into my first flat, I was sitting on the floor for almost 4 months and waiting. On top of that I didn’t even get the couch I ordered. All communication was good at first, Gemma was friendly and helpful, ensuring me packages could be reduced to fit into my home, then the night before delivery after waiting 10 weeks, they told me it wouldn’t fit. I’m still convinced to this day it would of actually fit, I offered to know the wall down outside my door, this was all agreed and said should fit then, waiting almost another 3 weeks to be told still won’t fit. Then someone higher up called me, I asked to deliver couch and he said I must be joking and refused. They offered alternative couch, 50% refund or 75% credit. He actually made me cry on the phone because he was blaming me and denying mine and Gemma’s conversation which I was reading aloud to him, I ended up agreeing to alternative sofa. To be fair to them, they got it made in the same fabric I paid for which I love but the couch isn’t even the same facing corner couch as I ordered. This now leaves me with no option to put dining seating in my home as moving the sofa forward would block the door. I’m extremely disappointed with myself for choosing this company as I was torn between a couple & never ever would order anything again because I feel like I’ve been scammed. I’ve now got a less expensive couch, waited over 3 months, no money back no apology I feel like I’ve been scammed

However, there are several key facts missing from your review which we feel are important to clarify:
- You were given the sofa’s packaging dimensions prior to placing your order.
- When you enquired about delivery to a first-floor flat without a lift, we advised that provided the stairs offered good access, there would be no issue. We specifically mentioned that turns or narrow entries could be problematic and asked to be informed of any such obstacles.
- You emailed to say you would check the packaging dimensions when viewing your flat. We received no follow-up indicating access concerns, so we proceeded with your order under the assumption you had verified the sofa would fit.
- Your confirmation email again included the packaging sizes and our access policy, clearly stating it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the item will fit into their property and to report any potential access issues within 48 hours. Had you informed us within this timeframe, we could have offered an alternative model that suited your space.
Four days before delivery, our team reviewed your property via Google Street View to check parking and noticed brickwork near your entrance. As the view was obscured by a bush, we contacted you for further clarification and requested photos or videos.
Upon receiving these, it became clear there was a 90-degree turn at the top of your external stairs, bordered by a waist-height brick wall. Additionally, your front door leads directly to a narrow internal staircase matching the door width, leaving no manoeuvring room for the large sofa you ordered.
Our team made detailed sketches to help you understand that, regardless of approach, delivery was physically impossible. Even removing the brickwork or hoisting the sofa through a window would not help, as the windows were too small. We spent significant time trying to find a solution to an issue that ultimately stemmed from your side.
As your sofa was bespoke, made to your specifications, our website and confirmation emails clearly state that full refunds are not applicable in such cases. In line with our terms, we offered a 50% refund or a 75% credit voucher.
You chose the 75% voucher, and our team continued to support you by helping select a new model that suited your preferences and confirmed the packaging would fit your property. We also fast-tracked production, reducing the lead time to 4 to 5 weeks rather than the standard 8 to 10, all as a gesture of goodwill.
When you later spoke to management, you disputed having been informed about the importance of reporting turning points, despite clear evidence in the email chain with our colleague, Gemma. During this call, you were unfortunately disrespectful towards our customer service team, who had been consistently helpful during your purchase and in trying to resolve the matter, which, again, was not our fault. While we regret that the call became heated, we do not tolerate staff being insulted when they have acted professionally.
It is unfortunate this situation arose, but we provided all necessary packaging details upfront and reiterated them in your confirmation. Had access issues been flagged prior to or within 48 hours of placing the order, the problem could have been avoided entirely.
We are very happy with our sofa
We are very happy with our sofa! I waited a few months before reviewing to give it time to test and I can confidently give it a 5 stars.

A wonderful experience
I've had a lovely experience with this company. I ordered my L-shape sofa bed and Gemma was quick to answer any questions I had through the whole process. There was a slight delay with the manufacturer but I was quickly notified. Delivery was easy. I can't remember the gentleman's name but he was very friendly, prompt and I know they did their best to schedule in the delivery around my work. They made this experience as easy as it could possibly be after I was let down by two previous companies.
The sofa itself is really well made and high quality!

Outstanding service with excellent pricing
Whilst it took a fair while for delivery, I was contacted the day after ordering with an updated date.
The sofa is excellent quality and affordable, looks great. A huge shout out to Bart, the driver. It was touch and go that he would be able to get in, however after removing a couple of doors he some how managed it.
100% recommend this company, an absolute pleasure to work with 😁

Hands down the best customer service I’ve ever experienced! From the very first enquiry to the moment our sofa was delivered (and even after!), Gemma and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I ordered a cabinet from this store four weeks ago, expecting a smooth and timely delivery. Today, out of nowhere, I received an email saying that my order will not be fulfilled and that I will simply be refunded.
I am absolutely furious! I waited a whole month, only to be told now that I won’t receive my item. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. No proper explanation, no alternative solution – just a refund after wasting my time.
I will never order from this store again, and I strongly advise others to be cautious. Terrible customer service and a total lack of reliability!
