Amazing book with some very cool features. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Dettagli del prodotto
Spider-Senses everywhere have been tingling in anticipation of this second volume in Folio’s acclaimed ‘Marvel Heroes’ series. The amazing Spider-Man collects twelve momentous tales of web-slinging action. Also included is a complete replica of The Amazing Spider-Man #1, created by the legendary team of Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. Following Folio’s Captain America, this dazzling edition presents an exclusive portrait of an iconic Super Hero. And who better to curate and introduce this collection than former Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas? Thomas selects archetypal stories from almost sixty years of crime-fighting adventure. You’ll discover the debuts of Doctor Octopus and Venom, as well as Peter Parker’s first encounter with his young successor, Miles Morales. This hardback edition comes sheathed in a beautiful blue-and-red slipcase stamped with Spidey’s iconic sigil, while the cover features original artwork by Marcos Martín, the multiple-award-winning Marvel artist famed for his work on Spider-Man.

I’m extremely pleased with this package. It’s high quality and was reasonably priced. I already have the Captain America edition and am looking forward to future editions covering other major Marvel characters.

I wish I as a child I had the presense of mind to understand that one day this original American superhero would be iconic and valuable. But, I never saved the originals I purchased in my youth. But this production's quality has resurrected the excitement and anticipation of a young man anticipating his next copy of "Spidey".

This edition of The Amazing Spider-man thankfully avoids all of the pitfalls of Folio's Marvel Silver Age. Printed at size, the reproduction scans are perfect representations of the original published comics. Side by side comparisons are nearly indistinguishable. The paper quality is gorgeous and the design attractive. My copy of Spider-man #121 is long gone, but opening to it in this edition I immediately re-experienced my teen-age trauma! The selection of stories is decent. There's plenty for us older fans (ASM #1, 3, 42, 121-122) and for the 90s kids there's Spider-man #300. The multi-verse is covered for the youngsters with Spider-men #2. The only disappointment is Spider-man #801 which, unlike "The Kid Who collects Spider-man" is twee in the worst way. A pity because Dan Slott wrote so many memorable stories but he went out on this most maudlin of notes.

Folio Society does not sell inexpensive items, but what you get is worth every penny. The book is put together well, and is shipped so well you don't even have to worry about it arriving in pristine condition unless the delivery truck ran over your package!

Excellent introduction and editing by Roy Thomas; disappointing scans—I expected cleaner, sharper images with less yellowing for the cost of the volume.
