Dettagli del prodotto
No more terrible disaster could befall your people than for them to fall into the hands of a Hero Arrakis, or Dune, is a planet of nothingness – its torched wastelands are home to a fierce nomadic people, and under the endless deserts stalk gargantuan sandworms the size of starships. It is a place where water is sacred – ‘a substance more precious than all others’ – where to shed a tear is the most taboo of all sacrifices. And yet the planet is also humanity’s sole source of ‘spice’, the mysterious, addictive substance that underpins the workings of the galaxy-wide Padishah Empire. To control Arrakis is to control all. And it is across its vast expanses and in its arid caves that Frank Herbert’s epic adventure of political subterfuge and messianic deliverance is played out, a story that has become the best-selling science-fiction novel of all time, and is considered by many to be the genre’s greatest work. Winner of a D&AD Design awards 2016 Wood Pencil

The quality of the Folio Society's Dune is excellent. The binding is very good, the cover box is nice, the paper is a good weight, the type is clear, the end-paper maps are nice (they are the same front and back), and the paintings are nicely done. There are only a handful of paintings scattered throughout the book, but they are a nice touch. I don't particularly care of the sparkly cover, but it is fine and doesn't rub off (no silvery flakes in my hands). I'm happy with my purchase. It is pricey, but it is a quality book. The cover box is nice, but it doesn't really add any value for me. I'm not a Dune expert so I can't comment if they fixed the mistakes that are in other versions of Dune; but I didn't find any glaring mistakes.

Was gorgeous, shame it came in damaged condition. But I wouldn’t hesitate to replace in the future.

Excellent binding, except that it lacks a bookmark ribbon. This feature is very useful in hefty volumes. The typeface could have been a little larger to benefit aging eyes. Otherwise, it is a beautiful book to hold and read. And best of all, no typos -which are typical in run-of-the-mill printings of this masterpiece.
