Today on the hottest day of the year…
Today on the hottest day of the year the engineer came to fit the fire alarm system, and drill the hole to connect it through to the flat next door, they guy's attitude was not great, I understand that the weather is very hot, perhaps it may have been better to cancel and rearrange, he made a mess drilling the wall, hit the lintel, and the drill slipped, and drilled a huge gouge, then he filled it, moaned that the filler wasn't drying, and then proceeded to moan that if it dried too quickly it could crack, then he didn't have the correct fixings, so had to drive to Town to get new fixings, gone for over an hour, this whole fiasco started at 09:55, and didn't end until 14:50 when he finally left, the job is still not complete, he needs to return to sand down where he filled the wall, and connect the panel next door, he left a mess inside the front door, where he'd drilled out, and hasn't cleaned it up, improvements are needed, if there's a heat wave more consideration needs to be taken for the customer, as well as for their own needs. Sitting inside all day unable to go out to get a drink from the shop, dehydrated and hot, not eating all day, whilst this fiasco went on, with him swearing when things continuously went wrong, and moaning about another colleague off because of the heat, all I can say is his colleague was sensible, it seems like this company isn't very experienced, or professional, the only upside is their communication by text is good, is this company overworked? and trying too do too much, and have they bitten off more than they can chew? Very probably, unfortunately as a housing association tenant I get no choice about who carries out the work, or I'd get someone else to complete the work.
Edit 12/07 - Engineer came to test the system on Friday 10/07 - went to the toilet, and left the bathroom hot sink tap running, I didn't realise and left for a weekend away, the boiler was sizzling, and water has gone through the wall to outside, and all the bathroom walls and floor are soaking, someone should teach the engineers to turn taps off after themselves! 😡😡😡
