Expensive and poorly targeted cover
We wanted Employer’s liability cover for a one-off 2 day rehearsal. But you obliged us to pay for Public liability also, even though the rehearsal wasn’t open to the public.
Hugely unimpressed at this expensive and poorly targeted cover. We’re unlikely to use you again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, naturally it’s a shame to have received a 1-star rating.
We do take all of our feedback seriously and I hope to be able to help give some further explanation around the points you have raised.
With regards to your comments, I can confirm that Employers’ liability can’t be taken out in isolation, and this does need to be taken out with public liability.
To provide you with some further context, this is a standard practice within the insurance industry and other companies would look to operate within a similar set up. The reason for this is due to the possible ‘grey area’ of when a member of staff is considered to be working for you at time of claim. So, to avoid gaps in cover the insurance industry decided to not offer Employers Liability without having a Public Liability policy to make sure that the staff members are fully covered.
An example of this, using car insurance as a scenario could look like:
On the drive to work the person driving would be treated as an individual (and not an Employee).
While at work if they were asked to conduct a client visit, they would then be treated as an Employee.
If the staff member however went and got coffees for other team members, there could be several scenarios where they could fall into either group; For example, were they asked to go, were they on lunch, or doing this on their own time etc.
There is some additional cover that you are protected for under the Public Liability, in addition to the above, this would have also protected you in case you or your employee injure someone or causes accidental damage to third party property (Like the venue for example).
I hope this helps provide some further context as to why policies are administered in this way and I would like to apologise if this wasn’t made clear at point of purchase and for the concerns caused

Cost of insurance
Was happy with service of getting the insurance but cost for a 3hr small dog show in a field did make the dog show unviable. We did the dog show so as not to disappoint the people booked to come but the rescue made very little profit for a lot of hard work.
