We encourage people likely to go completely crazy and write us theses about 10 dollars to participate in the activities of other nonprofits, if this is not you please ignore these reviews.

1. "Trust" Pilot does NOT verify that people leaving reviews are genuine customers. So our competition can trash us all they want. We are a small nonprofit with no means to file lawsuits. For a serious assessment of the quality of our service check our hundreds of positive reviews on Sitejabber.
2. To cancel, send an email to help@elderhelpers.org and keep in mind that we are a small charity, not a fast food chain; please wait for our answer.
3. If you are losing it like many Americans, please call NAMI immediately instead of taking it out on us.
4. We remind everyone that our experience taught us that people with a net worth below 30,000 dollars are usually much too stressed to use our service and behave appropriately.
5. We get 0 money from the government and 0 money from corporations. If you are close to homelessness, please call 211 Unted Way; they are getting tons of cash from both.
Thank you for removing your nasty negative review. We understand if you were having a bad day.

This is not a trustworthy non-profit

This is not a trustworthy non-profit. I am a social worker that provides resources to many elders. Their website charges elders $50 to get a code to see the volunteers phone numbers, despite advertising like it is a free service, and then they make it impossible to cancel. You can tell the quality of this company by how they are responding to negative reviews. Suggesting that negative reviewers call NAMI for psychological help is not only harmful to individuals who need mental health supports but is also harmful to the vulnerable community that you guys claim to serve. No company should ever respond to a review with "if you are feeling psychologically challenged like this reviewer please call 1-800-950-NAMI (6264)." DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE

Terrible

Terrible. I started donating, several months ago, but never received a receipt for my donations. I have now asked 5 times via email to stop donations, but ElderHelpers.org keeps giving me the run-around. So I have contacted my bank to put a stop to the donations. I have no reason to believe at this point that this is a legitimate organization. In a response to a negative rating below, ElderHelpers responded saying that the only thing to do to cancel automatic donations is to ask them by email. I have asked repeatedly by email, and have not once received a response that they have taken me off of their donation list. Every email response is that (1) they cannot find me in their system, (2) they can't figure out whether I am a volunteer or an elder person, (3) they think they have looked at an incorrect email address, yet they have been able to access my account for donations every month. I also do not appreciate that any time they receive a negative review, they suggest that the reviewer contact a mental help group, casting dispersions on folks who have been attempting to help elders through volunteer work or donations.........

Highly Suspicious Patterns and Unprofessional Behavior

I forgot I ever even signed up for this. I received no communication from them in the years since except to be asked to write this five star review. Reading the replies from ElderHelpers to other one-star reviews—I am appalled. Telling real people who want to volunteer and help the elderly to call NAMI for mental help because they poorly reviewed your organization is disgusting. A quick Internet search shows this organization parading is a nonprofit with nothing more than a 501 C3 status, zero transparency score on Candid, and no publicly available financial statements (990s) is in no position to be telling people that they need mental help for calling out the questionable experiences they have had with this “nonprofit”. The biggest tell this is not a legitimate organization is that they are asking for reviews on TrustPilot versus Charity Navigator or Candid, well respected websites for nonprofit reviews. I would not trust this organization no way, no how.

ETA: I am extremely concerned by the patterns I've observed with ElderHelpers.org. After posting an honest critique of their practices, I was met with a defensive response that attacked my mental stability rather than addressing the issues. Furthermore, there is a clear influx of positive reviews on this and other sites that all appear within a few days of each other, many from users outside the country with no clear connection to the service. This strongly suggests paid or inorganic feedback. Proceed with extreme caution.

Uhhh they never even gave me a chance to volunteer or help out but sent out emails asking users to give them 5 stars for no reason?? Seems like a scam

Like i have been signed up for the site for literally 5+ yrs with no volunteer work from them and the only email i ever got was about asking for an unearned 5 star review. How about a 1 star review then for scamming goodwill from people?

This is a scam and the only way to get money back is to report it with your credit card company. It’s such a shame for people who really do want to help.

I think this is a fake organization

I think this is a fake organization. I’ve been trying to connect with volunteers and no one I’ve reached out to has been a current volunteer. So I’m thinking this organization was real at one point and is now abandoned. I’ve been donating monthly and I’ve asked them to stop my auto-donation. I received a rude email in response.

Because Elder helpers has responded to my review, I would like to add the exact email I sent to them and their exact reply:
Sent on July 16, 2025

I started an auto donation months ago at $50 a month. I thought your organization was going to be super helpful for my mom. So far I have had zero luck with anyone volunteering providing any help for my mom. I would like to stop my recurring donation. I reached out asking for this months ago, and I've tried to call your phone number which is no longer in service. This is feeling like a fraudulent organization.

Thanks, Kelly

Great Opportunity to Help Seniors

I want to volunteer with ElderHelpers.org, I'm very interested in helping seniors.

I've had very rewarding experiences helping seniors and ElderHelpers.org seems like a very good place to let seniors and their family members find a volunteer who can help.

I'm excited to sign up with ElderHelpers.org!

Pretty sure this is a scam

Pretty sure this is a scam. I filled out my bio and followed all directions to volunteer, and subscribed $10/month to help out. 6 months went by without any communication about getting matched, but I was getting charged every month so I decided to cancel. There is no way to cancel online. I emailed to cancel, and they asked me to set my profile to "Unavailable" first so I wouldn't get any matches. That's where the problems started.

I wasn't able to update my profile because I kept getting an error message when trying to change my profile. When I shared the error with them over email, they said they "bothered" their developer and he said it was fine LOL. Then I looked up other reviews about this place. And yup, other people with similar experiences.

The Volunteer I found is an Angel!

When looking for someone to help my elderly Mother, I found ElderHelpers.org and I was very skeptical. I was thrilled that such an organization existed but one has to be careful with internet transactions and since there was a fee, I wanted to be extra careful. After searching for other organizations that might offer a similar service and not having luck and then doing research on ElderHelpers.org, I found they were listed on AARP's website and that was enough for me! So I joined and emailed all the volunteers and after 3 weeks one called me! She is truly an Angel and the best volunteer I could ever hope for. Thank you for the service you provide because in my area, there are none others like yours.
