Ecotricity is a very unscrupulous operation. These guys instead of meeting to discuss a disputed bill convinced TSB to restart an cancelled direct debit and just took what money they felt was correct without even a final receipt. Absolute scum!!!

My advice would be the give Ecotricity a wide berth.
Please look past the "green" wash. This company are inept in running their billing dept. No meter readings on the invoice makes for difficulty reconciling your account, and if they make an error they are unable to correct it.

Terrible customer portal
Terrible customer portal, very basic and no app for smartphones. They have put very little investment into customer information. On the plus side, their customer support seems fine. As I have solar I want better information from my power supplier, so don’t see us being a long term customer of Ecotricity.

Late billing by 134 days and no payments for me exporting power back into grid
Bit annoyed as have now tried to get through twice to complain and they have not called back or can give me a time frame to call me. Just started with them as they are a supply for solar city after I had panels installed on my roof. My complaint is they billed me for first month before I had panels installed and have now waited 134 days before billing me again despite me chasing up a couple of months ago about lack of billing. Obviously this is incredible annoying getting a massive power bill sent through but if I was suspicious of mind it looks like they have kept me on a non solar supply plan for the duration of summer so they can harvest all the energy I’m putting back into the grid to increase their own profits without having to pass on any supply payment to me. Now I can finally see a bill I can get myself on the correct plan (if they finally decide to speak to me) but have missed out on the time of year I would save/earn most from exporting power back into the grid.
This might all get resolved if I finally get through but as of now they just don’t want to speak to me.

Best green NZ electricity provider. Carbon neutral, renewable energy. Price is good as well. It's a no-brainer to join the Ecotricity movement.
Friendly and fast customer service, whether you contact them via email or Facebook messenger. No standard replies here, it's all personalised and friendly. So much better than the big NZ electricity retailers. Go green, go Ecotricity.
