I tried a number times cancelling a dating app, overpaid, and now i get an email from this "collection company" threatening me

Zogenaamd acteren ze vanuit Baar in Zwitserland, maar als je verder gaat zoeken dan kom je uit op een adres in Essen, dat toevallig ok het adres is van van een advokatenbureau T&D Rechtsanwälte GbR, dat hun zaken behartigd, zonder dat ze met bewijzen komen om hun zogenaamde claims te bewijzen.

This is a fake company, I joined a online dating thing and realised it was a scam too late and there wasn’t a way to cancel the membership so I pulled my details so they can’t charge me any extra and emailed asking to cancel with no response. No I get a letter every few months saying the charge went from £30 to the record £973.34 and is different everytime. Don’t pay them and block them.

They notified me about fines that paid year ago. Looks like they buy db and send everyone emails with claims. Please before pay check your fines on the goverments websites

Auch für uns als Auftraggeber ist Ecollect nicht erreichbar. Weder telefonisch, noch werden E-Mails an den Händlersupport beantwortet - es wird garnicht reagiert. Unsere eingereichten Inkassofälle werden nicht bearbeitet.

The company never reply emails on time, they make a deal with Sixt car rentals to overcharge customer every 10 days, without any explanation of the fees.
If you can avoid this both companies, better to avoid, really terrible customer service.

As many others in here I cancelled a subscription for a dating site within the time frame stipulated in the terms of service.

I just wanted to get out after I was tricked into a 6 month membership without any information or forewarning. I've read about these scams and blocked my credit card immediately.

However - the cancellation page at the dating site was constantly out of order - which I suspect is part of the scam. I decided to do it by email - which is perfectly legal.

Months after a back and forth with the dating site it got quiet. But then eCollect sends me a very "businesslike" email with all the run off the mill "legal terms" meant to scare victims into paying unjustified claims.

Know the following;

1. eCollect is blacklisted by the ECC. The ECC's advise is simply to ignore the emails - unless you, like me, find it amusing to exchange emails with these crooks just to see what they'll come up with next.

2. To operate as a collection agency in your country - in my case Norway - they need to apply and register through official channels to do so. This is a lengthy and costly process which only major companies can afford. eCollect is not one of them - they can't even collect stamps in Norway without breaking the law as they are not a registered company here.

3. They are banned in some countries. A good example is Belgium. Look it up!

4. If you need help to formulate a response in kind there's a template at ECC's website.

5. You also get free legal advice through the ECC network. Find your country and contact information at the ECC website.

6. Be polite. I know it can be hard - but nothing angers scammers more than somebody who didn't fall for their scare tactics. When they get abusive and/or threatening - and they will - just include that in your report to the ECC or your local consumer rights agency. Or even better - file a police report.

7. If they call you - RECORD the conversation. Just ask them to call you back in a few minutes if you aren't prepared.

You are allowed to do so if;

1) you participate in the conversation

or

2) you suspect illegal activities.

Just adds to the evidence.

Never book internationally through Sixt! We received a ticket violation and almost immediately sent it to this agency! Joke...

Never heard off this company before until I received several emails and letters demanding money for using a dating site which I have never used and never would use a dating site. My PayPal account was hacked and used to subscribe to several companies. All companies have refunded my money but not e collect. Very threatening and abusive company

used a dating site few day trial back in Feb (no subscription) no way to cancel and not only person to experience this. But they auto enrolled me into a monthly contract without consent, then they missed the renewal date and we’re charging me handling fees on top (around £50 in april) i informed them of my consumer rights and their violation (now it’s £60 end of April)
These harassment emails continued now it’s start of June £160 mid June £175 start of July £245 using this supposed company.
If don’t stop harassing I’ll see you in court…

Fake company. I signed up to a sham dating site and cancelled the membership as I was entitled to. I then started to recieve texts/letters from this company asking for an extraordinary amount of money. Cant find anything online that this is a legit company so I will not be paying.

been sent w bill of over £150 for a dating site that i cancelled after the first week about 3 months ago. Do i pay this or is this a scam?

Like what all say a dubious company when I had my bag stolen with my phone and wallet and someone signed up to a dodgy dating site I had all the proof and evidence and they still threaten me with court and letter from dodgy solicitor I’ve emailed the local police in Germany to take my complaint to them and they are looking into it , if it carries lm I will take legal advice

Like many on here I used a dating site and cancelled after finding out the site was a scam anyway. So I wrote to close. Then starts the emails and letters saying you owe this. Seems the debt is passed to this ecollect . They keep writing with an I creased value. I did try and put my details in to pay at first. The number they give you and email address. Said not recognised. Even trying to pay them don't work. Assuming it's all a scam. What ever you do don't pay.
