EasySCAM

Father in law ordered something from Easylife. Shortly afterwards got a phone call from TheRewardsClub. Could not understand a word and hung up. He is now a member of TheRewardClub and I'm trying to cancel during the 14 day cooling off period.
So far, no response. I don't believe no news is good news.

SCAMMERS!!!

Constructive? Hahaha you only need to order a product and you'll find out!
Ordered bathroom mould spray and matress cleaning spray. What a scam! Both products not working at all.
I couldn't even be bothered to contact them or return products.

Easylife for a Hardlife!

Oh I wish I could put them down as zero stars!
After ordering and purchasing a portable pedal cycle my order was delivered without my knowledge as it had been left, outside, overnight. I only found it after an email from Easylife told me it was delivered!
Eagerly opening the parcel I realised I had the wrong item. In fact it was only then I noticed written on the box, Portable Garden Spray.
Immediately I contacted their helpline and a collection was booked for Friday, today. I received another email advising the courier came at 7.57am but nobody was at home. LIES.
Again I contacted the helpline number and after explaining that my husband and I were at home and drinking a cup of coffee we were told to hold. Then we were cut off. Yet another email from them said it would be collected tomorrow.
I have now cancelled the order.
Easylife need to get a grip on things. Their customer services are pretty poor, and that's when you can finally speak to someone.
I doubt they will worry about losing one customer but I shall tell anybody who listens not to bother with them. Shockingly bad business ethics in my opinion.

This company is disgusting .they send out goods to people that haven’t been ordered they try to take out money from your account with no authorisation .my nephew has just received gardening stuff that he hasn’t ordered it is costing him time and mental health issues . I had the same experience twice they tried to take £70 from my account .. do not order anything from this company they sell your details on to a third party without your consent and say you have signed up to a club when you haven’t signed anything at all. Once they have your bank details they carry on thieving your hard earned money .i’m livid that they play on the vulnerable

Absolute scumbags

Absolute scumbags. Preying on elderly, passing details to other alternate trading name companies, random amounts getting taken unauthorised from accounts.

Why have they not been shut down??

I believe this to be a unlawful act

This review covers The Rewards Club, The Motor Club and Easylife. All are the same outfit, but pretend to be different companies.

Their MO is as follows: Identify an old person, Get them to buy something off the Easylife catalog - Buyers details get passed to the motor & rewards club - Get cold call by said clubs. Then following some trickery you suddenly find a £65.99 charge on your credit card - even though said card expired 2 or 3 years ago. How can they do this??
After reading the reviews here, Im now worried that in spite of contacting the bank, another charge will, at some time, appear on the credit card.
How is this not illegal?

immoral company

Read all the other reviews, which all say the same. If you buy from the Easylife catalogue you will find, sooner or later, that money is taken out of your account by an affiliated company such as Rewards Club, who are a legal, but scammy ‘subscription service’. They can legally get your account details and sign you up to a subscription to something like Gardeners Club, without your express consent. Often you will have had a phone call from someone saying “Is that Mrs X of 23 High St”. As soon as you say yes that is enough; you are subscribed without being told. You may receive a letter confirming this, you may not. But if you don’t cancel it they will take money regularly out of your account.

The worst thing is is that they get access to your actual bank account number, not the long card number, so cancelling your card will have no effect; they will just continue taking money out of your account.

Morale: never say who you are in the phone to someone you don’t know or trust.

Don't order from this company!

My 84 year old friend ordered from these scammers last year. She has had three lots of money taken out amounting to almost £200 although she hadn't placed further orders. When she queried it, they refunded two recent payments they had taken, but because she doesn't do emails, she had to write a letter to get the other one refunded which was taken out of her account last year. She is very distressed

Avoid like the plague!

The comments here says it all. The fact this company do not respond to comments surely means you should avoid at all costs. An elderly friend wanted to order from Easylife but knowing she would not be at home asked if she could use her name but my address for delivery. We live in different areas with a different postcode. I agreed. On planet earth there is only one reference to my friends name and my address and that is with Easylife. Yet within days begging letters started from various charities asking for money. Other catalogues dropped through the door too. Each was addressed to my friends name at my address so the only source for this must have been Easylife. Avoid like the plague!

Preying on the elderly and vulnerable

Last week I was going through my 83-year-old father's finances and discovered that over the last twelve months, between Easylife and Premier Offers Direct, they have taken just under £2.5K from his bank account. When my daughter called them, it was claimed that this was for membership of over ten "Reward Clubs", all with annual fees. I do not believe this was done with his knowledge and cannot trace any correspondence. He no longer drives so wouldn't benefit from the Motorists Club, nor the Gardening Club as he lives in a flat with no garden!

Apparently, they only spoke to him on the phone, so when asked for any evidence of him agreeing to this, they couldn't produce any and closed ranks refusing to discuss if any of these transactions were for legitimate orders. They have now been reported to his bank's fraud team and all the money has been refunded/claimed back. We are having to get new bank cards and change his phone number to ensure that there is no chance of them (or indeed anyone else) gaining access to his money or defrauding him again.

I have found evidence of Easylife being fined twice by the Information Commissioner’s Office for breaching customer data, as well as many other people reporting situations like my father's, including a recent article in The Guardian. In most cases this involves elderly or vulnerable people, which is even more despicable. I would recommend families to sign up their relatives to the Telephone Preference and Mail Preference services to give them some protection from fraudsters like this.

I mirror all the comments below.. This company need shutting down.
Because most of the money my elderly mother had solen was recovered, Action Fraud were not interested.. Which means they can continue scamming and selling card details.

97 year old loyal customer duped

My 97 year old Mother had been a good customer of Easylife and last bought goods off them March 2021. As she became ill in June 2023 I started taking over her finances. I noticed in September 2023 and October 2023 payments going out to Easylife. Basically someone from Easylife phoned her July 2022 and told her what a good customer she was and would get a £10 voucher. My Mother could not hear most of the conversation but kept asking is it free. She was signed up to two rewards clubs over the phone and had over £550 taken out of her account until I stopped it in October 2023. After many weeks of fighting this company I have managed to get the money refunded. It took many weeks to get them to reply even though they had a signed letter of authority they only every replied to say I could not act for my Mother under data protection. I would advise anyone if you are ordering goods from this company make sure you are not inadvertently signed up. Easylife has been fined for breaches regarding data protection by profiling elderly people then using the information. This happened between October 2022 and Spring 2023 the first payments were taken out of my Mothers Account September 2022. My Mother was a good customer of this company especially through lockdown and this is how they rewarded a loyal customer who was in their late nineties and hard of hearing on the telephone.

I was stealth enrolled into a subscription…

After a purchase, I was stealth enrolled without my permission into some sort of subscription at £18.50 a month and didn't notice for 2 years.
I contacted Easylife and was passed onto what appears to be a different company. They have said they are going to refund the payments but I've seen nothing yet

I have been having trouble with…

I have been having trouble with Easylife for two months now. I was charged for services I had not received during June, for which I received a refund in July, but then I was charged £18.50 on 07 July for a service which I had already paid for on 18th June. I have contacted Easylife by phone who say they will refund the overcharging but I have to wait a month for my next credit card bill to see if this has actually happened.

This company is disgusting

This company is disgusting, preying on vulnerably elderly people. My father bought ONE pair of bedsocks for my mum worth £18, and has since been signed up for multiple 'clubs', each of which he cancelled within the trial period. However, they are still charging him for each 'club' and constantly signing him up for more. He has currently paid them upwards of £400. When phoned they acknowledged the accounts had been cancelled, but I had to email with details of payments taken in order to get a refund. The short text-only email I sent was returned as 'too large' to be delivered. A second shorter email was returned for the same reason. An absolute scam. I will be taking this up with Trading Standards and seeking legal advice, and strongly recommend no-one purchases anything from this company.
