I scrapped a honda 500 four because the frame was rotten ,I filled in the v5 sent it to dvla two years later I still have not resived notification so I checked out the tax status and it seems it is on sorn ,how can this be I scrapped it ,I personally cut up the frame and sold the engine ,but yet some one has it on sorn Dvla are illegal morons

My car got clamped because it was untaxed. I hadn't recieved any reminders from the dvla, when I rang them they told me that they had deleted my address and couldn't send me reminders and that I couldn't tax my car over the phone because they didn't have a registered address for me.

AT LEAST A DOZEN PHONE CALLS BETWEEN 11th APRIL AND NOW 11th OCTOBER TO BE TOLD
A LETTER HAS BEEN SENT WHICH STARTS
'TO AVOID ANY DELAY'.........CHEQUE WAS CASHED ON 2/7/22 AND STILL NO DOCUMENTS!
SHOCKING BEYOND BELIEF IN THIS DAY AND AGE OF INTERNET.
UPDATE: CALLED ON FRIDAY 28th OCTOBER 2022 SPOKE TO 'KANE' ASKED WHAT AN ACCEPTABLE TIME TO WAIT FOR DOCUMENTS TO ARRIVE IS?? HE SAID 4-6 WEEKS,POSSIBLY A BIT LONGER MAYBE 8 WEEKS!!, SO WHEN I SAID IS OVER 7 MONTHS ACCEPABLE, CONSIDERING THE FIRST OF 2 CHEQUES WAS CASHED ON 2nd JULY 2022, HE THEN PUT ME ON HOLD, ON HIS RETURN HE TOLD ME THE DOCUMENTS HAD BEED POSTED 2 DAYS AGO!!! WOW! WHICH WAS WEDNESDAY 26th OCTOBER 2022,
THEY HAVE ARRIVED TO WEDNESDAY 2nd NOVEMBER 2022!
REALLY DO YOU THINK I HAVE A 'PINEAPPLE' ON MY SHOULDERS!!!,

DVLA COMPLETE SHAMBLES

Some of the more diligent DVLA employees have highlighted that in the period where DVLA employees were working from home, mainly due to Covid, all they had to do was to move their PC mouse once an hour to show that they were still on-line. The work ethic at DVLA, in the main, and indeed across the Civil Service, is severely lacking. The reason given for long waiting periods when calling by phone (and indeed for postal correspondence) is still being put down to Covid. There appears to be no government body taking any action to rectify the currently abysmal service.

I bought a new vehicle and the previous owner changed ownership online ...she added my postcode and the only address that appeared was a MARINA ...which is where I live .I watched this lady add my marina address.
6 weeks later ...no log book.had been received...I contacted the DVLA and I was told the wrong address had been added ...this was not true ..the DVLA automated post code kinder had not put the first line of my address ..the actual marina ..just the Street...no number no house name !!!! There automated online service failed but now I have to pay £25 to send a address renewel in paper form
The DVLA is in Wales ...the Welsh don't like the English full stop ...I spent 2 hours on DVLA live chat ...they will.not even consider helping you ...why did the government put are driving licenses...car log books and passports Inthe hands of the Welsh???????

BE AWARE: despite countless failed attempts through all their so called ‘means of communication’ over the last year to get this organisation to send me my licence which I successfully renewed online one year ago, I have HAD TO PAY FOR A ‘LOST’ licence. Scam is too polite for this disgrace of a so called service we the general public have to fund. Shame on you.

Trying to swap a paper licence for a photo one is a nightmare. Online process doesn’t work. Try to ring and they cut you off, try online chat it asks lots of questions and then tells you there are no agents available. It’s a proper 3rd world system. Horrendous!

Live as I write this. 28mins on hold is a joke, shame can’t give half a star

Just close the office and bring back to England totally useless have no clue what's going on and waiting time over a hour and live chat doesn't work keeps cutting of.

1 star is too many. Live chat.....what a joke. automated assistant pesters you then says it will put you through to the queue.....then get a message saying no one available, try again. Just keeps going round the same circle.

Just bought a new motorcycle and it seems impossible to tax it. The "old" green slip is not accepted by any of DVLA's online systems and their phone line cut me off. Apparently, because a new V5 has been raised, I need this to get tax, but it may not arrive for up to two weeks. What am I supposed to do in the meantime. This is not the first time I have had problems with the DVLA site, which frankly is rubbish.

No appointments whatsoever! Grumpy agents with all they care is to scare people to make mistakes!

Do they purposefully try and make it as awkward as possible to renew your car tax? How many different numbers do they need to use for you to pay them?! There's a Vehicle registration number. an 11 digit reference number, a different 12 digit reference number, a 16 digit number, a 'DVLA identifier', etc, etc, etc. And none of those numbers are printed on the correspondence from the DVLA ...because it has a different set of numbers on it. How about just having one number?! ...and printing it on correspondence from the DVLA?!

Like why make it so awkward? Why?

dvla's on-line obsession with the 11 digit vin number ... if you dont have it you cant fill out v62 and v890 if you dont have it but only the transfer slip a car dealer gave you ... that for no reason doesn't have the a copy of the vin no. then they cold bloodedly threaten to return the form !!?

on line ... no vin number no access to your car details ... wait 4 weeks ... to see if the dealer has actually passed ownership over !!?

they dont live or think in the real world and customers ie tax payers are hust a pain to them

i suggest sacking the exec's and starting again

the highway's agency has similar low standards ... another empire building waste of space and billions

how do ordinary folf in the UK get rid of of this administration ? ... if anyone can loint me in the right direction ... i'm joining up and i'm a retired police officer !!

So angry at the DVLA driving license department side !!! No proof at all that my son had been driving to a medical check up for so called alcohol miss use issue as he was applying for a heavy goods license I was my sons wishes to have HGV license so he set the ball rolling to get one him self and was already paying nearly £2000 to get him through his lessen and get a license and pass the test to be one so did of his own accord but two days after a night out he had to have his bloods taken he didn’t drive to the medical centre because of parking issues he. got a bus there and back but they took his license off him no police or courts involved either this was the DVLA driving department side for supposedly 6 months because they found alcohol in his system although my son wasn’t aware his blood would have had alcohol in his system as he’s been for a night out on the Friday and went to the medical centre on the Monday….but still they suspended his license for not 6 months but 15 months !!!!! Letters forms , emails lost count how many phone calls left on hold and automated voice on the other end of the phone then sometimes they’ve hung up when he’d been waiting for 45-60 minutes finally 9 months late he got his license back which he could have lost his job so I’ve taken him to and from his work and accumulated 8000 miles on my car clock not to mention wear and tear of my vehicle… I am looking in to compensation for the stress it’s put on me and our family especially me and no evidence he was actually driving to that medical check up absolutely disgusting treatment should have had his license back after 6 months NOT 15 months…. Blaming everything on covid too when all other businesses were back up and running after the pandemic but then he shouldn’t have had it taken from him at all in the first place !!!!!!!😡😡😡😡they all need sacking in the driving department and getting new staff and why they’ve just had a massive increase in pay is beyond me 😡😡😡 Appalling !!! 😡😡😡.

sent us a letter to re-tax the car. Code didn't work - called them twice, on hold for 30 mins both times, got hung up on twice. Still haven't taxed my car. Disgraceful reading through these reviews to see how bad the service is given i will be fined if i cant fix their issue

I have tried to contact DVLA twice today.
Firstly the wait time has been on both accounts almost 60 minutes!

(Fair enough; as they receive many calls.)

Though, nevertheless, if they receive so many calls they should rather focus on quality then quantity.

Meaning; deal with a call more efficiently:
Thus, with comprehension, patience and tact.
So that callers will less likely call back again, due to their lack of understanding.
(Which in turn will minimize the wait time.)

To be honest, EVERYBODY is extremely frustrated, EVERYBODY agrees that it is about time DVLA amend their misconduct!

Online chat service – awful. Waited for a connection having gone through a series of automated questions. Waited, waited and waited some more. Then a message: "Hi you are through to Alison, please wait a moment". Next message: "You have been disconnected please wait while we try to reconnect you". Waited, waited and waited some more. No reconnection. Gave up and tried to phone instead…… and that is another story. Okay gov.uk, I give up. That's another couple of hours wasted
