Annette was brilliant in arranging my mortgage - patient and knowledgeable throughout a very slow process. Even found a lower mortgage rate close to completion, and let me know consultation was free due to working for an NHS trust. I couldn't recommend DM more, especially if you get Annette!

I chose DM Mortgages based on their reputation and was comfortable paying a fee in return for tailored, accurate advice.

Unfortunately, my 2nd experience did not meet that expectation. Two mortgage applications were submitted which were later declined due to lender appetite for my property type, specifically concerns around it having previously been commercial and new build related issues. These were not issues related to my credit profile, affordability, or personal circumstances.

I didn’t say anything after the first decline reason as i assumed it was done but maybe a mistake or miss communication between brokers and lenders, but then it happened again for the exact same reason.

Given that the same fundamental property concerns were cited across both declines, I do not feel sufficient due diligence was carried out before progressing the applications. As a result, I incurred unnecessary cost, lost time, and had my credit impacted through multiple hard searches for applications that were never likely to proceed and then they suggested i stick with my current lenders and they can negotiate a deal with them directly.. Which i could have done from the start by myself without paying a fee or affecting my credit.

To DM Mortgages’ credit, they did agree to refund the broker fee following my rant, which I appreciate. However, I am now left needing to resolve the situation independently under time pressure as my mortgage is due, I didn’t receive an apology whatsoever despite remaining cool and taking my time to actually respond with my feedback and how i was feeling, instead i got a very blunt response with the main highlight being a manager will reach out to me and it has been forwarded to one, no manager contacted me. I was just contacted to be told I will be refunded.

Based on my experience, DM Handled my initial mortgage and that went well, so this is not to bash, but this 2nd experience was terrible and the after care was even worse as i am now in a worst position to find a deal than i was before i came back to them, I advise others with non standard properties to ensure lender criteria has been thoroughly checked and confirmed before any application is submitted.

We were looking for a good mortgage advisor,
I tried a couple of them and this one is the winner.
Found DM on Youtube and booked an appointment via their website. Yes, they can be busy sometimes but it's worth waiting for their professional advice.
Always replied to emails with every question we have.
Also after every meeting we received next day email
with everything that was on the last meeting. Very helpful especially if you are unsure about anything you said or said it wrong.
