Fascinating History Lesson of Lyon
Our guide Marie-Clara was fantastic. Given it was a freezing cold night she did a fantastic job of keeping us engaged and moving. We really enjoyed learning about the history of Lyon including the culinary, however, we did make the following observations:
The first stop was made by the host - again a charming and engaging man. The cheese and meat selection and wine were very good.
Our second stop lacked atmosphere due to the fact we were put in a corner of a brightly lit area when all the other diners seemed to be in another part of the restaurant and the Quenelle was disappointing.
The digestif bar was my least favourite - again it didn’t feel welcoming.
Marie-Clara spoke knowledgeably about the history of Lyon and we would recommend her as a tour guide to friends but probably not the food part.

We had a small group, and all dietary requirements were met. Good information, lovely guide, well organised. a nice variety of food.

OK, but not great
The guide was very friendly and fun. But frankly, the choice of venues for the food and the food quality left alot to be desired. Can't recommend. I have been through too many good food tours (Culinary Backstreets) to be able to confidently recommend this one.

Would do it again!
Our guide was professional and knowledgeable. We were with friends who had a son in the Marais and even they hadn’t been to most of the shops. Our stops were very different and we learned the history and cultural significance of each stop. It was a highlight of our trip!

A great selection of authentic venues

This tour charged AUD $250.00 per…
This tour charged AUD $250.00 per person for a walking tour around San Sebastián with a small pintxos and drink in four very crowded bars and a small meal at the end. It was grossly over priced compared to an excellent walking tour we did with Trip Advisor which cost AUD$71.00 each. Granted there was no refreshments in the Trip Advisor tour but pintxos are so cheap, there was no comparison with prices. I would never recommend Devour to my friends

Not up to devour reputation
In Lisbon 2025 my husband and I had a fabulous experience on a food tour. This year in Barcelona had two disappointing experiences And one positive with your company. The first ( AM city tour)was that tour guide never showed up. We were only notified, Via email, minutes before the tour was to start which messed up our entire day. Yes, we were reimbursed but we were scrambling for tour options at the last minute. We booked with another company that was not nearly as good as our experience IN Lisbon . Second tour (4 hr Gaudi and Parc Grueli) was disappointing in the fact that it was very rushed with little time to experience and enjoy the sites. The selection of museums was also second rate. Third experience (Full day Maseratte and Vineyard)was enjoyed. Tour guide valuable and excursion worthy of the price tag

Our guide Vanessa was informative, engaging, inclusive and warm. Plenty of samples, great variety, wonderful quality. Lots of historic information about Paris and the area we toured - Le Marais.
