Southsea Deckchairs was founded by Stephen Davies, a deckchair attendant working on Southsea beach during the 1980s and this is where Stephen’s love of deckchairs began. The Southsea Deckchair workshop was established in 1991, and the first batch was ready in the same year. The Southsea deckchair was developed from life-cycle testing and continuous improvement over the next 15 years with the three essential ingredients capable of withstanding a seaside environment: quality, strength and durability.

**EDIT to add: since writing this review, the company have now resolved this issue and I have increased the rating from 1 to 4 stars.
The deckchairs themselves are high quality and very comfortable. Sadly the customer service does not match up to the product.
I ordered two deckchairs but there were some marks on one of the covers. I emailed customer services but got no reply for several days. The company then offered a replacement sling (seat cover), which would have solved the problem, but they have never sent it.
I contacted them again six weeks after their emails went silent but they did not reply. It has now been almost four months since I placed the order.
It feels as though customer service is lacking although the deckchairs themselves are very good.

Hello Juliet, I have traced the e-mail trail and I can see that you chose to have a replacement fabric in a different colour on your message sent on the 19th June.
I cannot see that Nikki replied to this e-mail and I am not sure why, she is usually ultra-efficient. You wrote again on 28th August, after which time Nikki had for left for the winter and this was not picked up by us.
Please accept my apologies. As a small family business we take a real pride in our customer service and this is thankfully supported by the large number of very positive reviews below.
This is a genuine oversight. Please contact me at your earliest convenience and I will make sure that this is dispatched right away!

Southsea Deckchairs -quality products and service
Purchased two chairs from Southsea Deckchairs in 2021. It was a great experience being able to choose from so many bespoke options to suit our needs. The chairs are of high quality and we have enjoyed using them. One of them recently developed a fault after 3 years of use. The customer service to resolve the fault was exemplary and sorted out quickly. Nice to have someone in the UK to ring up who respond positively. I recommend this company.

Highly responsive team at Southsea Deckchairs. I had a few questions about my personalised order and members of the team responded quickly and very helpfully. The chairs arrived within a couple of days and I’m very pleased with the quality of the chairs, seat material, and the printing. I would recommend them.
