Refund complicated

I bought a weight bench from Decathlon online as a Christmas gift, and to this day returning it has been an absolute odyssey.

This is honestly unbelievable. Decathlon online sells products that are supplied by a third-party seller, and returning an item is by far the most complicated process I’ve ever experienced on any website.

Three weeks of back-and-forth conversations, and not a single person has been able to say something simple like: “OK, we’ll arrange a courier, the cost will be deducted from your refund.”
No clear yes or no. No solution.

Instead, you are asked to provide a phone number that doesn’t work. You’re told to send emails, then pushed into chat conversations where only one person replies — when they feel like it. After that, the issue is forwarded to the third-party seller, who takes another two days to respond. By the time you get a reply, five days have passed, and you still have no next step or resolution.

You then receive the same generic chat messages saying they have “seen” the case — a conversation that has been going on for three weeks with no outcome whatsoever.

This should be simple. It isn’t.
If you don’t have time to waste, I strongly recommend not buying from Decathlon online when third-party sellers are involved.

Do not ever buy online from Decathlon…

Do not ever buy online from Decathlon Australia if the item is then to be managed by a third party, in this case Pertemba in the UK. Apart from the speed with which they took funds against my credit card, this has been a disaster from the start. The item has not arrived, no-one will take responsibility, and I keep getting the same message from the 'Customer Service Team' in the UK to the effect that there is a high volume of deliveries in my area though they cannot actually tell me who is doing the 'delivery': sometimes it is a courier company and sometimes it is the 'local postal service'. It is also apparently not possible to track the item now that it is 'allegedly' in Australia. The Decathlon 'support team' which is reached through a Sydney number provides no support except to send an email to the third party retailer in the UK. Round and round in circles and getting nowhere.

Return taken over 5 months (and counting!)

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this experience needs to be shared.

I ordered the LSG SPG-230 Magnetic Spin Bike on 30 Jan 2025 and it arrived faulty. I submitted a return request on 29 March, but the third-party seller (Global Fitness & Leisure) was incredibly difficult to deal with. Despite sending photos and videos, it took nearly two months for them to approve the return, well beyond what should’ve been necessary.

I moved apartments and gave them over two weeks’ notice to arrange pickup before my move-out date. They ignored this, scheduled pickup after I’d left, and repeatedly sent couriers to the wrong address, even after I informed them multiple times. The item was finally picked up on 30 April.

On 1 May, I was told the refund would take 2–3 working days. It’s now 5 June and I still haven’t received it. I’ve followed up three times with no response. I had to call Decathlon, who promised to escalate it.

It’s been nearly five months since I placed the order, and I’m still out of pocket. I would caution anyone buying this bike,if there’s a problem, you’ll struggle to get it resolved.

Brought some cycling gloves in…

Brought some cycling gloves in SINGAPORE for $25 after a year of course they’re falling apart or a pair in Australia. The same gloves, $55. According to the staff, it’s the shipping cost to get the product from Vietnam to Australia causing the More than double the price, I call BS. Cash grabbing some big margins on very cheaply made products because Aussie are paying for it. Fantastic business, but when they’re charging us more to Singaporeans, it’s borderline racist

I use to shop here all the time, but because of the Double sometimes triple, the price tag of Singapore, it’s hard to get excited about the Brand in Australia

Their stock management is hopeless

Their stock management is hopeless, have placed a number of orders which have then been partly or fully cancelled because they claim no stock. Yet website showed stock available and "reserved". Hopeless.

Went to the George street branch in the…

Went to the George street branch in the CBD- Sydney. The store was 40 minutes late to opening, as to which the woman opening the store showed no apologies for the queues of people waiting for the store to open, she was rude and seemed hungover/frustrated. We asked for some help regarding an online order we placed, which mentioned it was able to be collected right away. As to which the woman said no (even though we waited for 40 minutes for her to arrive to work, late) and they had them in stock in the store but our specific ones hasn’t been delivered. Really poor experience for something we were loookimg forward to using today.

Very disappointed to leave a bad…

Very disappointed to leave a bad review, I usually like this store.
Fix up your act!
Recent sale item at the Mascot store gave massive savings on a large tent. I was advised to purchase online, 'there's heaps of them, but we've only got 1 floor stock'. Next day, decathlon online stated 'discount only available instore'. I returned to the store to find, after waiting 1 hour for advice, 'floor stock just been sold'. Online still advertised as available, but only in the Melbourne store.
And just now, a $25 head torch, sitting behind a $25 sign came up as $40 at checkout. All identical torches on the shelf were $40 at check out, yet there was no $40 sign anywhere in that section, and no $25 head torches available as advertised.
I'm starting to think 'deliberate scam'. And also 'filthy thieves'. And it has soured my decathlon experience

Backpack with one strap after 1hour with 2.5 kg

Backpack gave up on me after barely one hour.left with one strap to keep my journey.decathon is sorry.so am I.was used to better in Europe but was some years ago.decathlon suggests I go to one of their shop for repair or refund.i have no idea about the process.if repair I may need to go twice.i chose pick up from Fitzroy because too hard to go to their store and now that I ve paid to receive a defective product, they need me in store... shitless happens sometimes product are defective but just so you know even the pick up process was a pain with half the information you d need for pick up and confusing emails... whole process was bad.sent like 8 emails in total for something that should have been easy.dont get something from them unless u don't care that it might be defective and you don't need to rely on it

Bike shoes with its clips don't work on spin bikes, even though they tell you they do when you buy ;-( When i returned to the store about it after lockdown, they said it was outside of their return policy of 60 days because I am not a MVP member. The products are substandard and it has taught me to not trust different brands. You pay for what you get.

Click & collect fail

Advertising guaranteed for click & collect by next Monday/Wednesday/Friday. FAIL! They’ve missed three of these deadlines so far (not yet arrived at click & collect point), haven’t responded to email and disconnected a phone call when supposedly attempting to transfer my call. Not worth the hassle, particularly pre Christmas!

Happy with product quality/design and return policy

I searched for two years and finally found exactly what I needed on Decathlon website: Sandals that are sturdy and comfortable enough to walk hours without hurting feet, and very cute good looking design too! I have Morton’s Neuroma and these are the only sandals I can wear because the sole has just the right thickness and foot support that allows sole be flexible enough to bend and avoid foot muscles to put in any extra effort. I LOVE my sandals. Cherry on cake: they cost me only $39! I purchased two sizes as I was unsure which would suit best, and their return/refund policy was great!

Bad solution for your Aussie family gifts.

As a UK resident I thought that finding Decathlon had an Australian service would be ideal to furnish presents for my Aussie Grandchildren. BIG MISTAKE!!!
They charged me about £20 for a delivery that was advertised as and should have been free. There is no way to communicate with them, I've emailed 3 times and haven't had anything but an automated response. I'm dreading if they don't deliver / wrong or damaged goods. Save yourself a nightmare buy your stuff anywhere but Decathlon customer service - is ridiculously bad!
