We arrived on the 13th of July on arrival the reception staff was friendly and professional
We were staying in the coppice c 5 a dog friendly lodge .when we arrived at the lodge we opened the door to a very unpleasant smell in the utility area , living room, and kitchen areas . We also noticed clumps of white dog hairs on the floor .
We informed reception straight away they said they would send the house keeping . The house keeping arrived promptly they said they would re clean the floors and spray the curtains and wipe down the settees .
We went outside so they could do this .
When we went back in we could still smell it but could also smell the air freshener . We said that was ok and still had the doors wide open the house keeping team said to inform reception if we had any more issues
We went out for the evening and on return to the lodge we were met by the unpleasant smell again we had to open the windows and doors .
We tried to watch the tv which was hopeless the reception was terrible and kept going off and freezing .
We had to close the doors when we went to bed the smell just got stronger we could smell it in the bedroom . The following morning we returned back to reception at 830 and explained the situation again
They said they would send the house keeping team again and try to find out where the smell was coming from and do a deep clean . we also said about the hairs and tv again they told us to go back later after our day out . We returned later in the day regarding the outcome they said they had re cleaned and changed the door mat and re tuned the tv .
When we returned back to the lodge the smell was still there it was very strong like dog urine there was still dog hairs on the floor and sofas and under the beds which was white and our dog doesn’t moult and isn’t white.
We called the receptionist manager again and the house keeping team came back we explained the smell was bad . I spoke to the manager again we explained we could not stay in the lodge due to the smell .We wasn’t offered any alternative so had to go home . It was very disappointing we have stayed here before and at sandy brook which is the same company with no problems. We have payed over £1200 for this to happen is unacceptable. We didn’t find the managers very helpful they didn’t even come out to see us when we left .this is meant to be a 5 star I sent a email on the 14th of July and still haven’t had a reply from senior management. We have sent them photos of the dog hairs and tv not working and this was after the third clean
We only stayed one night instead of 4 due to not been offered any alternative accommodation we said we will have to go home and the manager said nothing about us having to leave after one night and said you are going home then this is how important customer satisfaction is to them .

We have stayed in Darwin Forest Country park many times over the last few years, it is a place we truly find outstanding.
We have come many times of the year too, our most recent was at Easter and as usual with no disapointment.
With easy access to Matlock and Chatsworth house its definitely worth a visit!

Lovely location, great lodges, beautiful forests to explore. Our only disappointment was that the restaurant closed very early on Sundays and on other days when busy they turned away customers. It is difficult to book, especially when you are out all day and so not sure when you will get back, and also with a 4 year old whose eating habits are a little unpredictable, but I would recommend booking if you want to be sure of a meal.

Had a Monday to Friday stay at darwin forest lodges the reception to lodges the whole place is friendly and clean we had a hot tub and spa in the lodge we went to the onsite restaurant bit pricey but the food was very nice I will go back again for a break ,we also used the local takeaway pizza express very quick delivery to the lodge nice place to go for a walk

Excellent well kept lodge park. Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff. Been coming here for a short break for several years. Love it!!

So I should have been in Tenerife in August this year, but COVID put paid to that. So started shopping for a holiday in the UK. We ideally wanted Cornwall but we stumbled upon Landal Darwin Forest via Hoseasons and booked straightaway.

We came up north via the M1 and then some local roads and drove through the dales to Darwin Forest. It's on the edge of the Peak District and you get to see so much stunning countryside on the way.

This was an absolutely amazing break! We checked in to our Spinney Lodge, which came with three bedrooms, kitchen, dining area and lounge. TV's in every room, a hottub, and best of all it was right in the thick of Darwin Forest. We could open our window and feel part of the forest.

We did have a minor issue on check in, but the way it was handled by the management team was simply fantastic. We were provided with some complementary wine and bike rides for the children (who loved racing through the Forest). Social distancing was taken very seriously by the team and hand sanitiser points in every building. All staff either serve behind screens or wear masks/shields. It made me feel very comfortable.

Although the lodges are self catering (and all of the supermarket delivery vans seem to know the site well), there is really no need. There is a cafe on site for lunches and the Foresters Restaurant does amazing food at really decent prices. It helped that they were also doing "Eat Out to Help Out".

There is plenty to do in the surrounding towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock. We spent a day in Matlock Bath which is like a seaside resort and also at Gullivers Theme Park.

Not only is Darwin Forest beautiful, the whole site is spotlessly clean and all of the employees go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and wanted. Nothing was any trouble for the team here.

This is a 5 star rating and nothing bad to say at all! You will really enjoy it here.
