incredibly SLOW!

This bank are holding up the sale of my property to buyers taking a mortgage out with them. Firstly they don’t operate like most UK mortgage companies which do everything on a fast, efficient online portal to solicitors. No, they do everything by snail mail. Mortgage offer took 10 days to come through when it could have been minutes! Now we have been waiting a further 2 weeks for a simple response, to proceed. They are being chased everyday for a response and cannot even give a timeframe! Unbelievably useless! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!

Imagine grandpa made to retrieve his Danske bank balance online, being unable to walk to his bank.imagine time and time again his computer freezes their online site, and now is compelled to phone this bank. Imagine the daunting hurdles of answering all their investigating questions, and if that was enough to satisfy their suspicious attitude , they ask you, what was your recent activity,and he cannot recall it... Now imagine how they handle this by telling him, sorry cannot provide you with your balance if you cannot remember your recent activity,,that is what you get for banking with northern Ireland's Danske online banking, a bank you contribute to by keeping that lot in jobs and in business, one think their patrons grow on trees reflecting on their attitude,,i know of no other banks patrons who would accept this horrendous corporate treatment without a serious reprimand, and to say they are only trying to ensure greater security for their patrons, is beyond the pale since they already subjected him to it..we call it a cop out and counter productive to healthy relations,,

Toxic culture at Danske Bank

I recently tried to exchange some coins, which were counted and bagged, at Danske Bank in Ballymoney and was asked if I was a customer; I explained that I wasn’t, whereupon I was told they wouldn’t be doing it. I had no trouble getting this service at Ulsterbank, Coleraine, even though I am a Santander customer. As an aside, today’s Daily Mail states that if you are a victim of financial scammers, Danske Bank will only refund 20% of your loss. Nice people.

I would like to pass my sincere thanks and appreciation to 2 of the danske bank staff.
Namely Claire whom I think works at Forestside branch,I rang her as I was extremely disappointed from the way my request was dealt with at the branch on the 29/8 .Claire was extremely willing to help me and went above and beyond her duties just to solve my issues.She sorted an appointment for my son on a Saturday ,from being very unhappy,she made me extremely happy.Please pass my sincere thanks to her for being extremely helpful ,understandable,gentle and kind.
Also we met Mrs Graham at the Donegal square branch ,again she was very knowledgeable,willing to help and understandable,within 5 minutes our issue was resolved,again please pass my sincere thanks to her .Very pleasant 2 member of staff at danske bank.

Had an account with them and when it came to switch they held up the transfer and ended up holding my funds for an extra working day. also was switching due to the attitude of the CSR on the phone. they were borderline abusive at one point actually laughed on the phone at us. never again will I use them.

Terrible bank

Terrible bank. They have asked me to verify my source of funds 5 times now.
Every time I verify, Im being asked to submit additional information.
Im all for anti money laundering but you guys are taking it WAY too far.

Avoid Avoid Avoid!

If I could give zero stars I would. Currently in a chain of 3. Danske Bank are our buyer’s mortgage offer provider. Our buyers have had 3 sales fall through via Purple bricks, (a whole other story). Then finally a first time buyer offers. We are 2 weeks from exchanging and completing. Our buyer’s mortgage offer expired on Sunday 4th June. Will Danske bank extend? Of course not!!!! This is now probably going to cause the whole chain to collapse! It took them 2 weeks to come to this decision. This scenario has been going on for a year. A year that has caused the utmost stress on us and our family. Shame on you Danske Bank! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!

Hopeless service for loyal customers

After thirty years loyal customer service was refused a joint account with my wife as she had a england address with me .N Ireland is part of the U.K. but Danske seems to treat it as a foreign country . My wife needed to separate from me to get a N Ireland address to be considered ! Mad beyond belief !further investigation by them confirmed what I wrote . We need to separate to get a joint account !

So Danske didn't send me a replacement…can't access

So Danske didn't send me a replacement debit card a few years ago fed up with current bank decided to try Danske again called them having made a test transfer to account.was told pop into a branch with ID .. ok but your closed when I am out of work and your Belfast city center branch open Saturday but no counter service really so now I can't get my cash that's not legal surely withholding my access to my own cash plus you would have posting the debit card to my home address not really a good start not impressed.If you do respond to reviews can anyone please help?

Poor bank

Poor bank. Used to offer a good reward account with 7 pound reward it you 1,200 in to your account per month with a 2 fee so you get 5 pounds per month. However from September they are reducing reward to 5 pounds but you still have to pay 2 pound fee but you have to pay out 8 debit card transactions although you have to pay 1,000 pound in as opposed to 1,200 pounds.

However you need to have access to a device which is compatabile for there app.

Danske bank really do their best…

Danske bank really do their best to help their customers, particularly with dispute cases with lots of scammers online. Their customer service is also pretty usable, accessible and easy to navigate. One suggestion I would have is would be to protect customers in fraudulent bank transfers

Its like banking in 1999!

If retro is your thing, then this is the bank for you. Log into internet banking and it looks like something from 20 odd years ago and has the functionality to match. If you want to do anything more advanced than view transactions and direct debits you've got no chance. They've also taken a good hard look at what people might want to do online and then thought to themselves 'how can we make it harder for customers to do this' What minimal features are there are hidden in sections you really wouldn't expect them to be in. Terminology is confusing and everything is just very dated - just like it tended to be 20 years ago. Even sort code and account numbers are displayed strangely compared to pretty much every other bank.

The 1999 theme stretches to pretty much everything the bank does. Letters and statements also have a retro feel, everything down to the font used is dated.

The mobile app looks a bit better but again it is very limited in features compared to pretty much every other UK bank.

Customer service isn't that great either. The website tells you to contact them via chat for the issue you want, you do and they tell you that you need to phone them. They don't call back when they say they will and don't block your card in the app for too long for security if you aren't using it. They'll cancel it and charge you £7 for a new one

The other banks I use are Lloyds and Starling. Both of which are miles ahead in, well, just being a modern bank.

Worse than woeful

My local community group has a business account with the Portadown branch. Without notice, they froze the account. Later it was learnt that was because of 'inactivity' -obviously they haven't heard about Covid. Paperwork was sent to change a signatory to the account 2 or 3 times-paperwork was lost. No statements were received. All the time the account was inaccessible, they continued to impose monthly charges. All we want to do now is close the account which cannot happen soon enough.

Got off to a bad start when I opened…

Got off to a bad start when I opened the account a few years ago, I asked for an overdraft,"no problem" I was told.8 months later and after countless requests, I finally get it!..teething problems I thought.NO!..now trying to alter a direct debit online thru their app,you'll have better luck raising the dead! I followed all of their instructions..NOPE!..Still no luck!..am now looking around for a bank that actually helps their customers!

Dishonest with poor understanding of legislation

This bank tried to make me destitute because I didn’t give them a specific standard of documentation which they weren’t even going to check were authentic.
They said that they needed the documents because the FCA had asked them. That wasn’t truthful.
They were asked to identify the legislation, including sections and paragraphs, which they believe gave them the authority to ask for this additional information from an existing customer and prevent them from accessing their money and blocking all lawful transfers such as direct debits if the documentation was withheld To date, all they have been able to specify is the FCA handbook C.O.B. section 6.2. That section of a non legally binding ‘handbook’ sadly refers to e-commerce.
They said that they would send a notice of account closure. I’m still waiting for that.
Even after they have informed me that they are issuing their closure notification they will not unblock my direct debits. To date, I’ve now defaulted on my accommodation payments and life insurance. Today, the direct debit for my mobile phone will fail. In a couple of days, my pay cheque will fail to go into my account. Within 10 days, my car insurance will be in arrears.
That’s the true face of The Northern Bank (Danske Bank)
And yes, I am leaving them.

Simply amazing.

I’ve recently opened a business account with Danske bank via Donegal square Belfast.

Due to my age no other bank would even consider allowing me to open a business bank account with them, however Danske bank were very understanding and willing to help me out from the moment I walked into the branch. After approximately one month after walking into the branch for the first time I had my business account open and up and running.

I’ve also more recently with the Business account faced an issue with a supplier. I honestly didn’t know how to deal with the situation due to its nature but I decided to call up Danske bank to see if they had any ability to solve the matters. Within 5 minutes of calling them and explain the situation they were able to help me, and thus started a process to hopefully resolve the issue.

While trying to be as fair as possible one criticism would be their business banking app is quite outdated but you don’t even have to use it as they have a online banking page which is much more advanced.

From my experience thus far their customer service is unmatched. There willingness to help is amazing and they are amazing at explaining the things you don’t quite fully understand when you get confused or ask about something. I would highly recommend to anyone considering to open a business or personal account with them to do it.

Best avoided

Best avoided, if you need something more complicated from your bank than a bank transfer. But you will. They completely failed me. I will be changing the bank and I do not recommend Danske Bank to anyone

Had a cancelled £130 refund with Amazon…

Had a cancelled £130 refund with Amazon held for seven days by Danske. When i contacted them they blamed Amazon.. Amazon told me they had released authorization after 24hrs. Seven days is ridiculous..I know most banks hold refunds 2-3 days but the fact this is happening for longer for no good reason is bad practice.. Blaming Amazon was also bad practice.. They then sent me a pdf letter saying they had resolved the issue by explaining their policy on why it happens..Nonsense indeed as you take payment out immediately so no reason to hold when the retailer as given the authorization to refund..
Seven days is a disgraceful time in this digital age..
