Our son LOVED his camps

Our son LOVED his camps! Lego Animators with Nico and Minecraft Redstone with Azul were both super exciting and full of creativity! He loved both instructors and said they were helpful and kind. He was excited to go back every day.

Creator Camp was "just ok"

Creator Camp was "just ok" in my eyes.
For the record, I would have given Creator Camp 2.5 stars if that had been an option.

If you want the TLDR, I felt that this camp was basically expensive babysitting.

If you want my whole review, here you go. (It's long.)
To be fair, I might have had my expectations too high, but I'll break down the positives and negatives.

The first day, was a huge disappointment for me as a parent. There was ZERO signage outside, so the only way I knew I was in the right area was that other cars were gathering in that same area. (Once I got out of the car to get my kids checked in, I actually spotted a really nice sandwich board Creator Camp sign inside the building that I assume was supposed to be outside, but it wasn't).

I think they also should have had a sign outside saying
"Doors open at 8:30". A lot of us were there early because the emails we were sent said "Camp starts at 8:30". Usually, that distinction isn't that big of a deal, but Creator Camp offers an early drop off option, so when us parents that didn't pay for early drop off saw the kids getting dropped off early, there was a lot of confusion. Perhaps in the email they sent us just a few days before camp, they should have reminded us that early drop off was an option and if we see kids going in early, their parents paid for that option.

But here are the 3 things I'm most upset about:
1) When I picked up my kids the first day, they both told me that the playground they were sent to for afternoon recess was literally dangerous and falling apart.

2) When I texted the Camp Manager (we were provided his number should any questions/ concerns arise) about the playground situation - he literally never responded. Ever.

3) This is the part that may or may not be Creator Camp's fault - maybe my expectations were too high, but is it really too much to ask that my kids actually LEARN something while attending something called "Creator Camp"? To give a little context, there are different Creator Camps, and the one we chose is called "Lego Animators", and in that particular camp, the kids use this app you download onto your iPad in the days prior to camp. My kids told me that on the first morning, all the Creator Camp staff did was was show them a video or two about how to use the app (which took just a few minutes) and the rest of Days 1 and 2, the camp staff was available for questions. Literally, that was it.
Somehow I just thought there would be more learning / teaching. I thought there would be more, "use this camera angle if you want to do this" or "every few shots, stop and make sure everything is lined up and looking consistent," stuff like that. But that's not what my kids conveyed to me. In fact, one of my kids knew more about the app than their assigned staff person did.

But the bottom line is, would I send my kids to Creator Camp again? And the answer is... maybe. And that is because my kids had an absolute BLAST and want to go again. I would just go into it with different expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review. We genuinely appreciate you sharing both what worked and what didn’t from your perspective.

We want to start by saying we’re really glad your kids had an absolute blast and are eager to return. That joy, engagement, and excitement to come back is something we aim for for all our students.

Regarding arrival and signage, we understand how the first morning could have felt confusing. Our emails note that camp starts at 8:30, with doors opening shortly before, and early drop off being a separate, paid option. That said, we agree there’s room for clearer on site signage and reminders, and we’re already improving this for future sessions.

On the playground concern, we take safety seriously. We only use facilities that are approved by our host locations, and campers are always supervised. That said, we appreciate this being raised and will follow up directly with the site to ensure everything meets appropriate standards. We’re also disappointed to hear you didn’t receive a response from the Camp Manager, as that’s not our expectation, and we’ll be addressing that internally.

As for the Lego Animators camp itself, we want to gently clarify our instructional approach. Our programs are intentionally hands on and project based. Rather than lecturing or step by step instruction for hours, instructors model key concepts, demonstrate tools, and then coach students individually as they create. This mirrors how creative tools are used in the real world and allows kids to explore, experiment, and problem solve at their own pace. Some students do come in with prior experience, and in those cases our staff aim to support and challenge them rather than reteach what they already know.

We also want to share that the videos your children created are sent to the email address used during registration (sometimes it can end up in your spam folder). If you didn’t receive them or would like help locating your child’s projects, you’re always welcome to message us directly and we’ll be happy to help track them down for you.

That said, we hear you on wanting more visibility into what was taught and how learning happened. That’s valid, and we’re continuing to improve how we communicate learning goals and outcomes to parents.

We truly appreciate your honesty and the fact that, even with these concerns, you’d consider returning with adjusted expectations. Feedback like this helps us refine and improve, and we’re grateful you took the time to share it.

This was my son's first time attending…

This was my son's first time attending Creator Camp. I found the camp on FB and thought my son would really enjoy it. He had a blast and asked to attend another camp. He enjoyed his counselor JoJo, and said she was nice and very helpful. He learned a few things and can't wait to learn more! Thank you for a great experience for him and easy process for me!

Great camp for your young content creators

My 8 year old daughter loved this camp. It is really a digital media creativity camp. Alyssa and Robbie kept the kiddos engaged with activities while teaching them the basics of , video editing, concept development and script creation. She was excited each week for a new class. The kids do not post anything to social media platforms, they just create really fun content to share with their classmates.

Awesome experience!

The preparation for Creator Camp was well communicated by the team. We knew what to bring and what apps to download well before the day.
My kid independently developed hands on animation skills in modelling characters and learning how to make smooth stop motion stories. We got to see the movies made on our tablet used at the camp and we could export them to share with friends.

A very positive experience and we will be back!
