We use the company on all our projects , very professional service , having used the local authority inspector for many years and a below average service using complete building control is so much easier , as every stage is photographed and documented so even if you have another inspector they know what has been previously inspected , Elle Keegan is our go too inspector and is always on hand to answer any queries we have , especially with the new regulations she is very professional and has a very good knowledge of the regs and happy to help with enquires the whole process is so much easier , overall a first class service

Complete Building Control provided an excellent service to our clients in Netherwood Rd London W14 on a realively complicated project. Both Nathan and Paul O'Connell visited, engaged with both us and the end client in an extremely professional manner. We are now engaging Complete Building Control on a new project. The following is my opinion based on my experiences with CICAIR, my private building surveyor and my cowboy builders:

In 2014 my building surveyors, Complete Building Control, which was referred by and working in the hands of my cowboy builders carried out a survey (which involved quickly glancing out of my bathroom window and saying "It's okay"). I paid them £700.

One month later the roof had a big leakage everywhere.

I got a visual report from a builder which stated that there was many defects in the roof, such as:
1. incorrect slope on the roof;
2. felt not secured correctly to chipboard and not joined together causing water to seep through building; and
3. no lead flashing at the junction between the roof and the existing house wall despite this being a requirement in the architects proposed plan.

These defects would be clearly visible to any qualified surveyor, as they were visible to the builder which spotted them.

However, Complete Building Control did not spot any of these visible defects.

I took the cowboy builder to Court and won, the judge accepted the report confirming the existence of the three visible defects.

I advised Complete Building Control that I would make a complaint if they did not refund me as they failed to spot the defects and I suspected that they were taking bribes from my builder to approve the works. The Director, Bhinder Singh Bassi stated that he is not concerned if I make a complaint to CICAIR "because we have extensive dealings with CICAIR"

I asked them to clarify what they meant by "extensive dealings with CICIAR". Mr Clive Parker from CBC stated that "I can confirm to you that Mr Bassi sits on several of the CICAIR Ltd panels."

Therefore, the private surveyors I am complaining about for failing to spot defects and taking bribes from my builders, are directly working for CICAIR.

I sent my complaint to CICAIR, stating that the existence of the three visible defects in the roof was confirmed by the English Court judgement as the Court had awarded my costs to repair these defects. My surveyors had failed to identify any of these defects which is a clear breach of CICAIR's rules which state that surveyors must carry out spot checks checks with reasonable skill and care.

CICAIR ignored the entirety of my complaint relating to the surveyor failing to identify the visual defects, and my Court case I cited which confirmed the existence of the three defects. They did not even comment on that part of my complaint to them.

They ignored the majority of my complaint and only commented on the more trivial aspects of my complaint.

I now understand what Mr Bhinder Bassi meant when he said he was not concerned about my complaint as he had extensive dealings with CICAIR.

Conclusion from my experience:

If you have been scammed by a private surveyor, next time use a qualified and more law abiding surveyor from your local Council. Not an unregulated private surveyor which takes bribes from your builder, and whose bosses directly work for CICAIR.

Private building surveyors are a triangle of corruption and bribery between cowboy builders, surveyors and CICAIR, with no oversight from a real impartial regulator.

Thorough and responsive from start to finish. We run a garden rooms business, Gardencustoms.com and a particular project we undertook had a requirement to be building regs compliant. Complete Building Control are really easy to work with and we had all the stage sign offs done on schedule with no delays. Will definitely use them again.

Avoid this company like the plague! They were paid to support building control, never turned up once, never answer their emails and a rip-off and a scam.

Very impressed with Complete Building Control Ltd. I had various queries about the process and requirements which Rob Bradshaw dealt with promptly, providing useful information and guidance.

There was more to replacing our old septic tank than meets the eye; not least that we needed Building Control to approve having a new Sewage Treatment Plant in our garden. UKDP had chosen Complete Building Control to see to all the paperwork on our behalf, and they dealt with it all without a hitch. We had the final inspection last week, and were delighted to end up with the final certificate of completion. Paperwork and communication exemplary! Many thanks.
