Paying customer treated like a free user — hidden limits, broken billing, and support that doesn't exist
I’m on the Professional plan and this has been one of the most frustrating paid AI tools I’ve ever used. I had 190/500 Monthly Interactions left when I suddenly hit a hard “User limit reached” error with zero explanation. Their own web app only shows the interaction counter — no mention of the secret USD token cap that was actually throttling me. To even discover this, I had to install their VS Code plugin (which I don’t use) just to find a link showing my real usage. That’s not UX, that’s user-hostile design.
Tried to buy more tokens? Paid, but nothing was added — “hard-capped by your plan” was the explanation received by email AI. I later received a refund without explanation or details.
Tried to upgrade to Teams 900? Got an error. A paying customer literally trying to give them more money and the system says no in 2 ways.
Support? Non-existent. Emails unanswered for a week+, Twitter ignored, Discord dead until I publicly shamed them (took 4 days for the first reply, which was just “send us your email”). This is my second time — previous payment issue took 8 days with the exact same copy-paste apology about “falling short of our standards.” Their own AI even directed me to a non-existent “CodeGPT Studio documentation”. Documentation doesn’t match reality. Half of topics have broken or non-existent URLs.
The product has real potential (and actually works nice), but the billing, limits transparency, and support are completely broken. If you’re a serious developer who values reliability and actually wants to pay for a tool, look elsewhere. This feels like early-stage beta chaos, not a professional service.
