Charged without authorization and still…

Charged without authorization and still waiting for a refund.

On March 18th, I upgraded my plan the same day I subscribed and was supposed to receive a $23.98 refund. It was never issued.

On April 18th, I was charged an additional $24 without any authorization — despite having no payment method saved in my account.

Two separate billing issues, both unresolved.

I have contacted support and canceled my subscription. If this is not resolved promptly, I will proceed with a formal dispute through my bank.

Be aware of how billing is handled.

Fulfils 2% of what was promised

They have great ideas: for what else you could pay. Otherwise, you can really only use it to remove users – and even that is far more complicated than it needs to be: it classifies at least half of your followers as ‘bot/spam’, and it doesn’t explain what ‘inactive’ means either (hint: it doesn’t mean inactive). After working manually through huge lists that lack important information (has this follower given you likes, reposts, comments, when was he last active with your account...), removing followers only works with a plug-in for the Chrome browser; it doesn’t work with other browsers. Unlike the video shown in the advert and on the homepage, the removal process is very slow, interrupted by 9–10-minute pauses: perhaps 70–80 removals per hour. You have to keep the browser open the whole time - your computer running for days...

Contrary to the promises, there are no useful tools for finding suitable accounts to follow: you can search for exactly one word, not combinations. You can do that in the normal Twitter search too.

I recommend buying a month’s subscription at most to clear out the followers; under no circumstances should you take out an annual subscription, as there’s nothing else to do otherwise. Incidentally, the price first shown with the ‘discount’ isn’t correct either – though you do see this just before you pay. Most importantly: make sure you cancel the subscription well in advance of the expiry date!

Thank you for the detailed and honest feedback much of what you’ve pointed out is fair, and we genuinely appreciate it.

Some of the issues you experienced come down to how X’s API works and how our features are structured.

About account discovery:
You’re right . the real-time account search supports only a single keyword. This is a limitation of X’s API, not something we can bypass.
For more advanced targeting, the correct feature is Deep Account Search, which uses historical data and provides much richer results. We agree this isn’t clear enough today , that’s on us.

We’re also working on a new search on tweets feature, where you’ll be able to combine multiple filters and build highly targeted audiences. This is coming soon.

About follower classification (bot / inactive):
We understand the confusion here. “Inactive” does not simply mean the last tweet date.
We evaluate overall account behavior over time , such as consistency and activity patterns. For example, an account that has only tweeted a few times over several years may still be considered inactive, even if it posted recently.

That said, we agree this should be explained much more clearly in the interface.

About removing followers & speed:
Removing followers is designed to protect your account first . not to be fast.

As an official X Enterprise Developer Program partner, we strictly follow platform rules and rate limits. Fast bulk actions can lead to account restrictions or suspension.

That’s why:
The process works via a Chrome extension
Actions are rate-limited
You may need to keep your browser open
We know this is not the most convenient experience, but the alternative is putting your account at risk, which we won’t do.

About overall value:
Circleboom is not designed as a single-purpose tool. Many users start with cleanup, then move to:
Audience discovery
Content scheduling
Growth and analytics tools
We continuously add new features, and these are typically included in existing plans , which is why longer-term plans are more cost-effective over time.

Beware of the rebill

The software has a few decent features, but the constant upselling makes it poor value. My biggest issue, however, is their billing practice. They hit me with a $504 renewal charge without any prior warning or 'heads-up' email. Even though I reached out the very next day to cancel, they refused to refund me. In my state, they are legally required to notify customers before a large rebill like this, which they failed to do. Keeping over $500 for a service I haven't used in months is completely unreasonable

unforgiving "service!"

I used the service for one year.it was balky and inconsistent. I was auro renewed with zero advance notice, as legitimate merchants who aren't trying to "gotcha" routinely provide. I canceled the service before my credit card company approved the charge, so I will be challenging there.But all should be aware of the kind of unforgiving "service" this company provides.

Billing transparency issue

I intended to purchase a one-month subscription, but the checkout process emphasized a monthly rate without clearly disclosing the total annual charge prior to purchase, which resulted in an unexpected charge of over $100 for a yearly subscription.

No paid features were used. The only feature accessed was the free tweet delete, which occurred prior to account creation. After noticing the charge, I canceled the subscription within 10–15 minutes and promptly requested a refund; however, the request wasn’t responded to.

Had the full annual cost been clearly presented at checkout, I would not have completed the purchase. I am sharing this experience to encourage clearer pricing practices.

NO EXPECTATION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE

I don’t even remember subscribing. But they had my card info. In any event, I’M 100% POSITIVE I didn’t sign up for a year’s subscription. I can’t afford that on any month.

I immediately contacted customer service via DM on X as suggested on their website upon discovery of the nearly $400 charge. I was polite, courteous and kind in my tone. Heck, I even apologized to them for [MY] mistake, explaining that of course I must’ve been there, but that this was certainly not my intent, and would they please give me back the money as that was part of my mortgage payment.

I followed up by actually going to the App, or site and could see (and grabbed screenshots of) that I had never connected my X account.

Later that evening, (Nov. 30th) and all the next day *crickets*. Two days later I see that there had been another charge for approx. half the amount originally discovered! So at that point, they’ve got well over $500 of mine.

I filed with my bank of course, and was reimbursed the smaller of the two charges, but I’ve yet to hear from Circleboom. I still have not connected my X account.

Disappointed so far

I subscribed to your service to mainly see who has followed & more importantly who has unfollowed me. Before I actually subscribed, there was a notice at the top that 20(I think was about the number) had unfollowed. Now, it shows no new/unfollowed for the last month, which I’m positive is incorrect. Soooo…so far, I’m very underwhelmed.

Features and data are incorrect.
"Bots" are people I personally know
"Don't Follow back" Followers do actually follow
Charged a $15.00 Cancellation fee because they deceptively showed a discount for bundling a service I never intended to use. Not very honest or professional

I purchased the following: Circleboom Publish - X Publish

Review update:

I received a reply to my email, prompted by my review here. Circleboom explained that they didnt get my original email as it hit their spam folder. To be honest, I believe them. Because this has been happening to me also. Google in particular have spam filters set quite high now after recent updates.

The other reason is because they resolved my issue. I now have access to the full product i paid for. They did error by moving the product in such a way that for the user, it looks like i mentioned below. Their explanation is honest in that while they were making the product easier to access, they understand the confusion it caused.

I will say this in fairness. Functionally, the product is excellent. I does what is says on the tin..

I purchased the following:

Circleboom Publish - X Publish Mar 8, 2025 – Mar 8, 2026 1 $95.88
Circleboom Twitter Tool - Pro Mar 8, 2025 – Mar 8, 2026 1 $203.88
Subtotal $299.76 Bundle - Publish X Annual Fxd 60 24Q3 ($35.88 off) -$35.88 Total $263.88 Amount due $263.88 USD

My access to Circleboom Publish - X Publish has disappeared. The product listed in my account as my being subscribed to now (Circleboom X Post Planner) does not appear to be anything like that which I paid for. It at least appears that the goal posts changed after I purchased.

My official receipt, which I can provide, says one thing, whereas my account now says another, and my access is gone.

I wrote to them in May this year, almost 6 months ago, and they have ignored me.

My second 1-star review...

Whilst the platform has reasonable capabilities, it doesn't justify the costs of the product - there are better options out there (I would rate them 3/5).

However commercially, they are only interested in extracting as much money as possible from their customers. I signed a one-year subscription, as they offered a great discount. I stopped using the product - but of course, forgot to cancel the description. When I saw the charge on my credit card, I immediately contacted them and requested a refund. There was no advance notification of the renewal - and their response (only after being chased multiple times) was that their Ts&Cs were clear - and they were unable to offer a refund. It was clear that I hadn't been using the service or using the console. They didn't even send an email at the point of renewal - so there was a 10-day delay between renewal and me contacting them.

Even more concerning - when they renewed (at $384), they increased the price by 39% !! (list price to list price - even greater percentage if you compare with the original promo rate).

When I finally got tired of their boilerplate / AI generated email responses, I cancelled my subscription - and was offered a 50% discount to stay !!

My recommendation, sign up for whatever period you want - and then immediately cancel the subscription so that you can get the better price.

In their response, they said no subscription provider provides a refund, which is a lie - as I have had one give me a partial refund with a similar situation. I'm also in the lead up to my 365 renewal - and there's a slight increase in costs - I've had no less than 4 emails from Msft in the past 4 weeks talking through the increases, allowing me to cancel before renewal. It is the same for all "proper" subscriptions I am on.

Their practices are financially predatory - proceed with caution. As with the other 1 star reviews that have been posted, "management" will express their apologies - and will likely express how their hands are tied. There are enough one star reviews that it should be apparent where the truth lies.
