Poor comms, poor delivery, poor experience.
I placed a £3,500 order with Chimes Home and Garden by phone on 1 April. I was told most items would be dispatched within 7 days, with the remainder due at the end of April. I agreed in writing to a part shipment, however after weeks of chasing I was incorrectly told the order was on hold waiting for all stock.
The first part was finally dispatched after 16 days, but the courier then took another 7 days to deliver. Despite me calling in advance to correct the address, the courier paperwork still had the wrong house number and postcode and they attempted delivery to the wrong address.
Delivery communication was chaotic. Multiple changing ETAs, excuses, then no updates at all. I had to spend around 20 minutes on the phone and walking the streets to physically locate the delivery van. The drivers were rude, demanded we move our car off our driveway for them to park on it, and then expected help unloading heavy items despite this being part of the delivery service.
A promotional item was missing from the delivery and I was initially blamed for not adding it online, even though the order was placed by phone and the promotion was confirmed at the time. This was eventually resolved, but only after further chasing.
On 17 May the final part of my order was delivered, which was due at the end of April. I had had no proactive communication and have had to repeatedly chase for updates. One person told me it was in the warehouse, another told me it hadn’t arrived which was the cause of the delay. Yet again the delivery team lived up to their exceptionally high standards and delivered my order *to the wrong house* dumping the order on the drive of a neighbour 30 houses down the road. I eventually got them on the phone to come back and deliver to the correct house.
I asked several times during this process for a complaint to be raised, Chimes advised me that it had been done and I would receive Feedback regarding this. I’ve chased several times and had no response to my complaint.
Poor communication, unacceptable delivery handling, and far too much chasing required. I would not recommend Chimes Home and Garden based on this experience.

Having reviewed your order, I can see from our records that the items you purchased were special order products supplied directly by Nova Outdoor Living, rather than items held in our own warehouse. As a result, we were reliant on the supplier's stock availability and delivery schedule. I can also see that you were initially advised that the screen was not due to arrive until the end of April, and unfortunately we were unable to dispatch this item before it was received from the supplier.
As you are located some distance from our warehouse, we had to arrange delivery via an external courier. While this is standard for deliveries to your area, we sincerely apologise for the issues you experienced with the courier, including the incorrect address details, delivery communication and the level of service you received. This is certainly not the standard we expect, and we appreciate how frustrating this must have been.
We're pleased that the promotional item was ultimately resolved, but we regret that this, along with the delays and the lack of consistent communication, detracted from your overall experience.
We value all customer feedback and will be using your comments to review both our internal communication processes and the service provided by the courier company. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Laughable response to my review.
Chimes thinks a glass table top on a 14 month old garden furniture purchase isn't covered, just like a car windscreen isn't covered.
Well I didn't drive my table top at 60mph down the road, or for that matter eat my food off my windscreen. I can't see the link.
Ita a bit like saying the feet on the chairs aren't covered because they are like car tyres.
And then they immediately jump on the no abuse to the staff diatribe. At what point was my review abusive?
A bit sad.
They are not interested in aftersales. Just have their money and that's that.
I'll reinforce my last review.
If you but from Chimes and have an issue, you have wasted your money.
Just like we have. They do not care.
Over a grands worth of furniture spoilt by second rate components, covered by a guarantee not worth the paper it's written on.
If you are thinking of using Chimes. Think again.

We are sorry that you remain dissatisfied with our response. However, we do feel it is important to clarify a few points for the benefit of anyone reading these reviews.
Your garden furniture set was purchased over 15 months ago. As previously explained, the manufacturer's warranty does not cover glass components, which is standard across many industries. The comparison with a car windscreen was intended simply to illustrate that glass is often treated as a separate component under warranty terms, not to suggest the two products are directly comparable.
In our previous response, our comments regarding abusive language were not directed at the content of your review. They referred to the email correspondence we received from you, during which a member of our team was told to "f*ck off". We do not believe it is acceptable for our staff to be spoken to in that manner and will always support our team in maintaining respectful communication.
We have not dismissed your concerns. We investigated your enquiry, checked the warranty position, and confirmed that replacement glass tops are unfortunately not available from the manufacturer. While we appreciate this is not the outcome you wanted, we cannot offer a remedy that falls outside the manufacturer's warranty or supply products that are unavailable.
We genuinely strive to provide excellent customer service before, during and after every purchase, and we're sorry that in this instance we were unable to meet your expectations.

cantilever Parasol stone filled base
I ordered the cantilever Parasol stone filled Base in grey. It was at a great price and is doing an excellent job in holding up a large cantilever parasol. I was surprised that it took 6 x 20kg bags of large stones and I will probably add another 2 at a later date. Service and delivery were excellent.

Awful return rules
Awful return rules. I have ordered pergola blinds and it didn't fit. I then returned the product in original package,unused and asked for refund. After several emails back and forward,I have been told to pay the collection and delivery which is almost the half of the blind cost. First was told it will be £50 and then additional charges were applied. Awful experience ,so disappointing.
The comment from the store about legs to be adjusted is false and made up.
I have still not received any refund yet and different refund value is being confirmed to me.

We would like to clarify that the additional charge was a restocking fee. The pull-down screen was a special-order item from the supplier that was ordered in specifically for you, as it is not a product we keep in stock. This is outlined within our returns policy for special-order items.
We also understand that the blind itself was the correct size for your pergola. Unfortunately, your fitter advised that it could not be installed, this is because the pergola legs were slightly out of position. The legs would have needed to be adjusted slightly for the blind to fit correctly, rather than there being an issue with the blind itself.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry that we couldn't achieve the outcome you were hoping for.
* In response to your comments about the pergola legs, we asked if you could provide a photo/video of the screen being fitted to your pergola so that we could assess the issue and offer advice. In our experience, fitting issues can sometimes occur when screens are installed after the pergola has already been assembled, as the legs may need slight adjustment to ensure everything aligns correctly.
Unfortunately, as we didn't receive a photo, we were unable to investigate the issue further or provide more specific guidance. However, once the screen was returned to us, our warehouse team inspected it thoroughly and confirmed that it is not faulty.

Highly recommend Chimes
I found the perfect garden furniture on the Chimes website but having had a very bad experience with another company, I was nervous about making another large purchase online. I emailed to confirm whether the furniture I wanted was in stock and when it could be delivered. I received a response within 24 hours, confirming that it was and delivery would be within 7 to 10 days. I purchased the furniture a couple of days later and received a call the same day to thank me and to discuss delivery. As I had been told in the email, the furniture was to be dispatched the following day. Within a week, beautiful garden furniture was delivered, all the way into the back garden. I cannot recommend Chimes enough. My faith restored and the garden summer ready again. The whole experience was a dream. Thank you so much

Best delivery I’ve ever had
A courier service delivered our garden sofa and I’ve never known delivery men go more above and beyond than them! The sofa would not fit through my corridor to access the garden. So they got permission to have me open the box. It then still didn’t fit and was blocking access to the building. They were amazing at manoeuvring the furniture and finally getting it through the door- in 30 degree heat! Just so grateful to them!
