Do NOT use CheckFreePay at Walmart at 7200 Arroyo Crossing in Las Vegas. The connection between Walmart and CheckFreePay is horrible. I paid my Nevada Energy bill on 9/12/26 and the Walmart associate told me it would post the next day — completely false. My payment didn’t show up, my lights were disconnected, and I had to make extra payments just to keep my service on.
If you look at my receipt, it clearly says “payment to be delivered no later than the 15th.” But when I called CheckFreePay, the representative told me it might not post until 11:59 PM — or maybe the next day. That means nothing is guaranteed, and anyone who pays utility bills knows the light company does NOT wait until midnight. They shut you off the moment your balance hits zero.
Because of their delay, Nevada Energy actually disconnected my power. I had to call them, explain everything, and they reconnected me as a courtesy because CheckFreePay never posted the payment. The disconnect and reconnect alerts I’m posting show exactly what they put me through.
After this happened, I went online and read the BBB reviews. If I had known how bad they were, I would have NEVER used this service. Walmart gives false reassurance, and CheckFreePay does not guarantee your payment. They left me stressed, upset, and dealing with a disconnection that was NOT my fault.
If you need to pay a bill, go somewhere else — even a grocery store is better. In my opinion, Walmart and CheckFreePay are making money off customers while providing unreliable service. This company needs to be exposed, and if this happens to you, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because something needs to be done.
