I received an email claiming to represent Cheap Surf Gear, demanding a backlink for an alleged copyright issue. It appears to be a scam or misuse of their name. Real companies don’t request backlinks as “legal action.” Be cautious.
Looks like scam. A lawyer asked us to link a picture to their watches site. I think it's fraud.
"The credit must appear under the image or the footer of the page and
be clickable to ...cheapsurfgear.com /blogs/surf-news/do-divers-use-dive-watches
within 5 working days. We await your response to confirm this has been
completed, removing the image does not resolve the case."
I ordered a pair of Clark’s sandals and received a fake men’s wedding band that did not even fit in the velvet packaging it came with. I contacted the website for information on returning it and getting a refund. I have had MANY email correspondences with someone, only to tell me that “they have no many in account to give me.” All emails were in broken English quite obviously written by someone from another country. Here we are almost four months later and I still don’t have a refund. They are scammers and are running some sort of illegal business. They are taking your money, sending you crap, and then refusing to refund your money.
Illegal scam. You will never receive any product. They are pretending to be something they are not and posing as a fake law firm attacking other businesses. I have reported them to the police and the Better Business Bureau. Their days are numbered.
This store is fraudulently using a fake law firm to make false copyright infringement claims in order to extort businesses into adding website links to cheapsurfgear.com. After notifying them that we filed a police report and contacted the Texas Attorney General the fake law firm "Arthur Davidson" was taken down. In addition to reporting the actions to the legal authorities we have contacted Shopify to report "Malicious And Deceptive Practices".
Last reviewer is spot on. Scammers posing as a fictitious law firm to generate backlinks to what is probably a scam Shopify surfing site.
This company is a complete scam that uses malicious, predatory tactics to gain links to their site from unsuspecting websites. They pose as a FAKE law firm named "Arthur Davidson Legal," sending out phony copyright infringement notices for surfing images other website's have posted via free-use image websites such as Unsplash and Pixabay. I have found a number of their victims in my research. They will email the unsuspecting website owner on behalf of a fake client saying they own the image and demanding the image credit be linked to their website in hopes of generating sales. They have even stolen a cleaning business's phone number on their pretend legal website — the poor owner is being harassed with calls looking for them. The address listed on their "legal" site is a co-working space — not a law office. Truly the most bizarre and convoluted scam I have seen online that must have minimal return. I have to suspect every positive review written here is fake as well. Do not give these people your money or information.
I was nervous about using this site because I wasn’t sure about the quality of the surf gear. But I took a risk buying some cool gear. I’m glad that I did because it’s high quality gear and it was fast shipping as well. Highly recommended.
