Damaged Product, No Accountability, BBB Complaint Ignored
My experience with CenCal Motorsport was extremely disappointing and unprofessional from start to finish.
I purchased a high-cost automotive part that arrived damaged due to inadequate packaging prior to shipment. The item was barely protected and clearly not packaged appropriately for a large, fragile component. This was not carrier mishandling — the damage occurred before the package ever shipped.
UPS confirmed they are not responsible for the damage because the packaging was insufficient. At that point, responsibility should have been clear.
Rather than addressing the packaging failure, CenCal Motorsport relied on their “Checkout+ Package Protection” language, implying that customers who decline optional coverage should accept damaged products. Optional shipping protection does not replace a seller’s basic obligation to package items properly. That position is unreasonable.
Their proposed resolution was a 50% discount on a replacement, which would still require me to pay again for a product that arrived damaged due to how it was packaged. That shifts the cost of the problem entirely onto the customer and does not resolve the issue.
I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (Complaint ID #24420529). The BBB reached out to CenCal Motorsport, and the company did not respond. The complaint was officially closed as unanswered.
The issue remains unresolved. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with CenCal Motorsport. When problems arise, accountability and communication appear to be absent.
