Steele Family Carpet (aka Carpet Master) pulled a bait and switch with the services I requested. They sent a completely different “company” called Lian Services, which does not exist according to any records I could find online.
They told me it would be $79 and no extra charges for bringing the equipment up the stairs. When the tech finished “Cleaning” my carpet, he informed me they were charging me $165 ($30 for bringing the equipment upstairs, and $135 for the service that was quoted at $79)
When I asked to speak to a manager, I have been hung up on multiple times and nobody calls me back. I asked about Lian Services and Steele Family Carpet said “we don’t know who that is”.
It has been over 2 days with no call back, and the company refuses to do anything to help. DO NOT use this company unless you want to get scammed and have their employees THREATEN you in your home by telling you “I’m going to dump all this dirty water on your carpet unless you pay me the $165”
I never received a quote or an actual invoice because this company is fraudulent and does not adhere to normal business practices. They use intimidation and threats to get extra money from people, and they do not honor their word.
These people are the most dishonest, rude, and downright disrespectful people I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with.
I will be filing a chargeback with my bank and I hope that anyone reading this stays away, as all of these other reviews are not at all what you will experience.
To makes things even worse, the tech “Dan” that they sent over didn’t spend more than 3 minutes on each room and left the carpets sticky with soap residue and still having dirty spots all over the place.
STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
This is the shoddy work I received for $165 (more than double what was quoted).
As you can see, the tech didn’t even bother to get the last 2 inches of carpet in the living room and there are several dirt spots that are a direct result of the tech not removing the rest of the soap / water. He refused to spend more time than the 3 minutes he spent, and then continued threatening me and strong armed me into paying the inflated price.
This is a classic bait and switch and fraud
**UPDATE: After driving to the colony to speak to someone directly, the address that is listed on google is not real. There is no Suite 457 at 6700 Main Street in The Colony. When I called again, I was told “we left that location three months ago and are now a mobile only company”
When I confronted the agent about the address not existing, they hung up on me again. Luckily I got the call on recording (thank you texas for being a one party consent state). I will be forwarding this to the fraud department at my credit card company, sharing this review any where else that Steele Family Carpet is listed, and having my friend who is an attorney file a small claims case for me if necessary.
I can’t believe any legitimate business would treat their customers this way.
Also, the contractor from “Lian Services” who claimed to be dispatched by “Steele Family Carpet / Carpet Master” blocked me after trying to contact them for a resolution.
This place should be called “Steal Family Carpet” because they are nothing but thieves and liars.
