Constant network issues
Constant network issues , unable to receive calls.Called the “so called L2 support team”which never calls me back . I called multiple times over 8 days to get this resolved only to keep having the same people apologising and escalating (to whom , I don’t know) and no L2 technical team has even bothered to call. I have had a gut full and switched telco. They are not that cheap , and they are supposed to have support from Telstra .They don’t!
Just another small budget team trying to rip off the consumer.
It was supposed to be easy to buy and…
It was supposed to be easy to buy and setup. We have now talked to them tre times. First time we got send to a Telstra store to get my id verified. After that we called them again. They could not help us. We had to wait 24 hours maybe, but then they would activate it for us through email. Now we got an email saying we need to go to a Telstra store( who cannot help) or call them. We called them and they said we cannot activate it through email and the id is not verified from their side. They can’t do anymore.
They should not be allowed to sell simcardts id they can’t help their customers activate it because now they are just talking people’s money without giving you the product you pay for!!
What a Nightmare!!!
I recently had to purchase a temporary prepaid phone through Boost Mobile because my phone broke and I was waiting for a new one to be released. I used Boost back in 2018 and back then they were great and understanding. Unfortunately, this recent experience was completely different.
I went to Walmart and bought the cheapest Boost phone available (which was over $60) along with a $25 prepaid card. I had to take a taxi to and from the store, which cost me over $20. After spending all that money just to have a working phone, I got home and tried to activate it — and that’s when the nightmare started.
I was told I couldn’t activate the phone unless I paid an additional $0.60 in taxes. Nowhere on the phone box or the prepaid card did it mention that I would owe extra money at activation. I had already spent everything I had because my phone broke unexpectedly. I literally did not have $0.60 left. I had to borrow someone else’s phone just to call customer service.
They then offered me a “deal” of $10 a month for three months and then $25 after that — but only if I signed up for auto-pay. I don’t like leaving my card information on file, so I declined and asked to just use the $25 plan I had already purchased. I was then told I couldn’t use the $25 plan unless I agreed to auto-pay and would instead have to pay for a $45 plan. That makes absolutely no sense when you can walk into a store and buy a $25 Boost card.
I’m a personal caregiver and I need a phone at all times. Because of this situation, I went without service for five days until I got paid and could fix the issue. I was extremely upset and even crying on the phone because I don’t even have a debit card and had to wait until I could load my paycheck onto a Walmart card just to activate service.
In the end, I went back to my original carrier. I had my daughter pick out the phone she wanted, and I’m using that one temporarily until the phone I want is released. I had planned to give her the Boost phone, but after this experience, that wasn’t happening.
Boost used to allow incoming calls and texts for a period of time even if your bill was late. That flexibility and understanding seems to be gone. Over $0.60, Boost lost a longtime customer and a potential new one.
Was it really worth it?
Do better, Boost.
Boost is fine. There are much worse options.
Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. My prepaid service works fine where I live and work the price isn't great but you get more data than the Telstra deals and it's mostly the same coverage. 8 I have been with both) according to my research the only real benefit of Telstra vs boost is priority during congestion and peak hours. Barely drops out on the train occasionally but what service doesn't? Works well in a spot where Optus has weak signal, occasionally my phone says it's on 5g+ mode. Cool? Honestly it's a better experience than being on tangerine
I just left them to go back to boost
I'm sorry I left boost!. At least I get the new customer bonus data on the first 3 recharges.
Less than one star
Less than one star. The customer care line is terrible. You call to get help, instead you get someone who barely speaks English. You keep asking them to repeat what they just said. Then they get annoyed with you and hang up. All that time wasted because the tight %$## at Boost want to cut costs...
Impossible to activate
Impossible to activate, we wasted 80 dollars for nothing
Terrible service
I keep getting a “something went wrong” error message after trying at least five times, with no explanation at all. I tried on my mobile, tablet, and laptop, and the same error appears at the final step every time, even though everything goes smoothly beforehand with no issues on my end. I’m unable to complete the process or use the SIM card properly. I paid $300 for this service, and this level of quality and reliability is completely unacceptable. This is a filthy and deeply disappointing service, and it feels like a complete waste of money.
I've been on Boost Mobile on and off…
I've been on Boost Mobile on and off here is my take:
+ the best network coverage in Australia
+ cheaper than Telstra
+ frequent promo for new customers
+ simple plans
- terrible customer service. I mean you'd have to spend a lot of time trying to compaing or explain an issue, and you would only get: we're sorry, and we're appologise... not the actual resolution.
- if you want to buy a SIM card from their website - good luck, because it doesn't work!!! You will spend multiple attempts to get that online deal, but nothing will work... different browser, different email, different ID, different card, incognito mode... you'll try their online support and all they can do is say sorry, go to Telstra shop... so no online deals that they advertise
141gb data left…unable to connect to the internet
141gb data left and yesterday during the power outage, till today. I cannot connect using the internet with my phone. My phone became a brick. Could not connect to WhatsApp, internet browser.. nothing.
I reset network settings twice. Nothing.
I will NEVER join Telstra or its subsidies ever again. What a joke! Luckily, I have another prepaid with amaysim (Optus) which is helping me now to connect to the internet. Check power outage issue, communicate with neighbours about the outage.
Telstra.. you’re absolutely useless
Boost has the worst reception and Customer Service of almost any company
This has to be the worst customer service company in the world.
They sold me an iPhone 15 Pro Max
,,two years ago in January an iPhone 15 never work,
touchscreen problems, reception problems. They would not honor any kind of insurance and they never offered me any insurance.
I had to go out and buy a new phone after APPLE sent me two different refurbished phones that were as equally as bad.
Went on trip to the Caribbean. Boost could not get themselves together. I spent so much my vacation trying to make phone calls.
Corporate will not back customer
Corporate boost mobile offer a 30 days exchange or return policy on a new line. It is in writing on corporate website stating online or store. We purchased the phone in store The store will not honor the 30 day. The store says call corporate and corporate says call store. We are stuck in the middle. We are brand new customers to boost. I would not recommend them at all. They are not willing to help when one of their franchises refuses service
I used to love boost but recently over…
I used to love boost but recently over the past 6 months I have no coverage in most places, my 12 month credit ran out today so will be switching.
Changes data rollover policy without notifying customers in advance
I could have easily been a long-term customer with Boost mobile, yet they screw me over with the data rollover for the year-long plan. I had 155 GBs worth of data from my previous plan that was left-over, and wanted to roll over to my newly refreshed 1 year plan.
There was no issue with getting this done the previous time I refreshed my plan with Boost mobile. Yet, now, when I have so much data left over, I renew the plan, and they're saying it's not part of their policy anymore???? So Boost is just going to ignore the fact that
1. They never told me about this change
2. They're not going to give me anything to make up for the 155GBs of data I've lost.
I've asked the customer service representative to find ways around this to at least partially cover what was lost, e.g. manually add the data, or manually upgrade my plan to something with more data. All excuses, and no action that amounts to anything meaningful at all to my plan's profile.
The first time Boost screwed around with me, making me wait about a full week to get my number ported over to their service, I was able accept against my better judgement. Now, they're screwing me over a second time majorly, I cannot tolerate this any longer. I might just stick it out for one more year as I've already paid. But, I will be porting my number to a different provider once this plan is up. Absolutely do not want to be clowned around by boost, randomly changing policies to screw over customers and saying "there's nothing I can do about it".

Don’t trust what they offer in regards network coverage,
Have bought after confirming, will work in kangaroo island, however lost connection after my ponga 50km prior to cape jarvis
I never write reviews
I never write reviews, but I am extremely dissatisfied. Long story short, haven`t had a sim card in a month now. Customer support is horrible..
I had a very negative experience with Boost. Choose another carrier
I had a very negative experience with Boost Mobile. I would not recommend. They have very poor coverage, cellular data was slow, and they have deplorable customer service. I moved to Thailand and no longer needed my number. However, I was not able to cancel my account using the mobile app, and when my next month's charge went through on my credit card, Boost Mobile refused to reverse the charge. You will be better served getting another carrier and avoid Boost. They Boost their pockets at your expense.
A horrendous experience
I signed up with this provider at the start of the year and immediately ran into issues. I could only make calls to certain numbers — not all. After waiting a full week, they claimed the issue was resolved, but I still couldn’t call some numbers. I ended up just dealing with it because I needed a working phone.
Now in June, I’ve been waiting over 1.5 weeks for a SIM replacement. When it finally arrived, I tried to activate it and was told I’d receive a confirmation email within 15 minutes. Over an hour later — still nothing. I reached out via online chat, waited 20 minutes, and was then told activation could take up to 24 hours. Seriously?
This whole experience has been a nightmare. Every issue takes hours to troubleshoot, support is slow and unclear, and getting straight answers feels impossible. There’s no sense of urgency or accountability from this company.
Absolutely would not recommend. If you value your time, your sanity, or reliable service — look elsewhere.
UPDATE 26 June 2025
I received a message from Boost saying that they believed I had incorrectly reviewed the wrong company and that my feedback was for another business. I can confirm this is NOT the case, and this review is definitely based on my experience with Boost Mobile.
I should also note that I STILL have not received an "activation email"
