Bodyfurnitures is contemporary art jewelry by Italian artist Gian Luca Bartellone, made by hand in Bolzano, South Tyrol, in the north of Italy. Each piece begins as an idea, is refined in a detailed drawing, and only then becomes an object. This is art jewelry rather than conventional fine jewelry. The pieces are made of papier-mâché, shaped entirely by hand through modelling, sanding, painting and lacquering, and combined with structures in silver, copper and gold set with precious stones. Paper is what makes the scale possible: it is light and surprisingly resilient, so a piece can be generous in volume and still weigh almost nothing. Sculptural to look at, barely felt to wear. Gian Luca describes the work as formal research, goldsmith tradition and innovative craftsmanship. There are two lines. Author Jewelry are one-of-a-kind works: each piece exists once, carries its own name, and is never repeated. The Collections - Iride, Vespera, Histos, Hypno, Nidor and Aidia - are limited editions made in small series. Gian Luca's work is held in the collection of the Grassi Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig and has received the Grassipreis (2012) and the Alatyr Innovation Award (2015). It was selected editorially for The Jewellery Trendbook 2028+ by TRENDVISION Jewellery + Forecasting. This is a small independent name, not a chain.
